I need to kill a type of grass/weed in my lawn.

The weed looks like tall stalks about 4-6" high, green with 4-5 star like tops. there are small green leaves on each stalk about half way. I thought maybe Sedge or Nut grass? Not sure. I need to ID this pest/weed and kill it.
