4-Speed XT is mixed at 1.1 - 1.5 oz. per 0.1 - 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. You would need 4.4 fl oz to 6 fl oz of 4-Speed XT in 4 gallons of water to treat 4,000 sq ft. depending on what you are treating. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.

You can apply a post-emergent herbicide such as 4-Speed XT in the morning or afternoon in mild weather. Be sure you do not apply in the hottest part of the day if temperatures are over about 85 degrees since that may cause injury to desirable grass in the area. If you need to apply 4-Speed when the afternoon temperaturs will be hotter, then it would be best to apply the herbicide in the morning when desirable plants are less susceptible to damage. Be sure to read and follow the complete product label.
When using herbicides such as 4 Speed XT, the amount of water is dependent on the how much water it takes to cover a 1,000 sq ft area. The best way to gauge this is by marking off a 10ft by 100ft area. Fill your pump sprayer and "mock" spray the area thoroughly. This will tell you how much water to mix the 4 Speed XTwith.
