Adonis 2F contains Imidacloprid, the same active ingredient used in Premise and Merit.
Adonis 2 F is a new product containing Imidacloprid, the first non-repellent and most proven termiticide/insecticide on the market as well as foliar and insect systemic applications. Adonis 2F provides reliable structural protection from subterranean termites on residential and commercial structures. In addition to providing subterranean termite treatment and protection, it also provides superior exterior ant control. Since Adonis 2F is a non-repellent, social insects like ants and termites spread the product around their colonies which eliminates the entire colony, including the queens. Adonis 2 F is also labeled for termite pre-treatments. Adonis 2F is effective, easy to use, and economical.

Adonis 2F (Flowable) is a non-repellent liquid concentrate containing the active ingredient Imidacloprid. Imidacloprid is in the class of insecticides known as neonicotinoids, neuro-active insecticides that are modeled after nicotine. Imidacloprid works by disrupting inhibiting stimuli transmission within an insect’s nervous system. More specifically, imidacloprid blocks a certain type of neuronal pathways which are much more prevalent in insects than mammals.
When used as directed, ants and termites cannot detect Adonis 2F, allowing them to contact the active ingredient and spread it throughout the colony through regular activities, primarily food sharing. Imidacloprid works slowly enough for the entire colony to be compromised quickly and efficiently.
Adonis 2F also works as a foliar spray to kill ornamental pests on contact, or as a systemic insecticide, translocating from the root structure throughout a plant to kill insect pests feeding on treated plants.
Subterranean termites, drywood termites, ants; ornamental pests such as white flies, adelgids, mealybugs, scale; turf pests such as weevils, Japanese beetles, chinch bugs, mole crickets, and white grubs

Adonis 2F Insecticide / Termiticide is an excellent liquid termite treatment for subterranean termites and active drywood or dampwood termite infestations. Adonis 2F offers a low-cost alternative to Premise 2 Insecticide without sacrificing efficacy. Indoor applications of Adonis 2F are limited to spot treatments of active termite infestations.
Adonis 2F is also an excellent exterior perimeter treatment for a variety of ants, including carpenter ants (do not spray indoors for ant control). Adonis 2F is an effective turfgrass treatment for many soil inhabiting pests such as chafers, Japanese beetles, billbugs, and mole crickets. You can also use Adonis 2F as a foliar spray for a variety of ornamental pests, or as a soil drench around trees and shrubs for pests such as whiteflies, scales, and mealybugs. Finally, Adonis 2F is labeled for use around many residential fruit trees, as well as pecans and grapes. (See product label for complete application instructions.)
The purpose of chemical soil treatment for termite control is to establish a continuous chemical treated zone (horizontal and/or vertical) between the wood and other cellulose material in the structure and the termite colonies in the soil. Use a 0.05% to 0.1% dilution based on current recommendations. For a typical control situation, use a 0.05% dilution. Use a 0.1% dilution when a severe or persistent infestation exists. Structures that contain wells or cisterns within the foundation of the structure can only be treated using the treated back?ll method described in the treatment around wells and cisterns section of the product label.
For most post-construction termite treatments, use 4 gallons of 0.1% finished solution per 10 lineal feet in a trench 6 inches wide by 6 inches deep to create a continuous barrier around the perimeter of the treated structure. In areas of concrete slab, the same volume should be applied by drilling holes 10” – 12” apart with a hammer drill and ½” x 18” drill bit. See our article How to Do a Termite Treatment for further details of trenching treatment. For soil treatments to be covered by concrete slab such as under carports, porches, or basement floors, apply at a rate of 1 gallon or sufficient volume of solution to accurately and uniformly cover 10 square feet.
In situations where necessary, conventional application methods can be supplemented through use of foam generating equipment, or similar devices, to provide a continuous treated zone. Make foam application alone or in combination with conventional application methods, provided that the labeled amount of active ingredient per unit area is used. See “Mixing Table – Foam” on product label.
For turfgrass applications, make applications preceding or during the egg laying period of the target pest. The active ingredient in this product has enough residual activity so that applications can be made preceding the egg laying activity. Application timing can be based on historical monitoring of the site, previous records or experiences, current season adult trapping or other methods. Most favorable control will be achieved when applications are made prior to egg hatch of the target pests, followed by suf?cient irrigation or rainfall to move the active ingredient through the thatch.
Each 27.5 ounce bottle yields approximately 45 gallons of finished solution for termite or perimeter ant treatments and treats approximately 1-2 acres of turfgrass, ornamentals, or groundcovers.
* 0.3 fl. oz. (9 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.05% - some termite treatments, spot treatments of termite nests and other wood-infesting pests
* 0.6 fl. oz. (18 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.1% - most termite treatments
* 27.5 fl. oz. / 100 gal. of water – 0.05% - high volume termite applications
* 0.46 to 0.6 fl. oz. (14 to 17 mL)/ 1,000 sq. ft. – apply in sufficient water for uniform coverage – turfgrass applications, ornamental foliage applications
* 1.5 fl. oz. (45 mL) / 100 gal. of water – high volume foliar applications to ornamentals, residential fruit and nut trees
* 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (2 to 6 mL) per inch of trunk diameter or shrub height – root drench for trees and shrubs
Pre- and post-construction termite treatments around residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; turfgrass, landscape ornamentals, residential fruit and nut trees and interior plantscapes; turfgrass in residential lawns, business and office complexes, shopping complexes, multi-family residential complexes, golf courses, airports, cemeteries, parks, playgrounds, athletic fields; commercial and residential landscapes and interior plantscapes; residential area pome fruits and nuts: apple, crabapple, loquat, mayhaw, pear, oriental pear, quince, pecan, grapes
Indoors
Adonis 2F Termiticide/Insecticide is not labeled for indoor use except for spot treatment of active termite infestations in voids.
Outdoors
See above for termite treatments.
For control of ants in houses and other structures: Apply a 0.05 to 0.1% solution as a general surface, spot, crack and crevice or wall void application. Apply to surfaces on buildings, porches, patios and other structures, around doors and windows, eaves and attic vents, utility entry points, sof?t areas and other exterior openings (including foundation cracks or drilled holes) where the pests enter the structure or where they crawl or hide. Spray into cracks and crevices. Spray, mist or foam into voids where these ants or their nests are present. Apply the volume of spray mist or foam suf?cient to cover the area, but do not allow excessive dripping or run-off to occur from vertical or overhead surfaces.
Turfgrass applications: Apply in sufficient water to provide adequate distribution in the treated area. Do not apply through any irrigation system. Apply 0.46 to 0.6 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (1.25 to 1.6 pt/A) using equipment which will produce a uniform, coarse droplet spray, using a low pressure setting to eliminate off target drift. Use higher application for faster knockdown and longer residual.
Applications to ornamentals: Application can be made by foliar application or soil applications; including soil injection, drenches, and broadcast sprays. Foliar applications offer locally systemic activity against insect pests. When making foliar applications on hard to wet foliage such as holly, pine, or ivy, add a spreader/sticker, if needed. Apply 1.5 fl. oz. per 100 gal. of water and apply before the onset of high pest populations. Reapply as needed.
Soil injection and drench: Apply 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. per inch of trunk diameter for trees or per foot of shrub height for shrubs. Apply uniformly as a drench around the base of the plant in not less than 10 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Direct application to the root area. Remove plastic or any other barrier that will stop solution from reaching the root zone. Keep soil moist for 7-10 days after application to encourage uptake.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT
By Ken on 04/24/2012
I purchased this product to use as a systemic insecticide for several large hibiscus plants here in Orlando. I was tired of weekly spraying for aphids and other assorted pests. This product worked as advertised. I followed the label directions and applied to each shrub as a soil drench and no more pests. I'm also able to enjoy the flowers longer now that I am not spraying them directly with an insecticide. Another great product at a great price from a great company. Thanks DMOPC!!!

How much Adonis 2F to use in a gallon sprayer?
By Anonymous on 08/17/2013
In reading the booklet that came along with the quart of product I purchased did not indicate how much Adonis I should use if I am only filling a gallon sprayer. So I called Adonis and spoke to a gentleman who advised me to use 1 tablespoon pere gallon. It worked they are all DEAD. And now my morning glories can smile at me each morning. Thank you to Adonis 2F

What setting do I use on a hose-end sprayer to apply this as a ground soak to an 8ft tall ficus hedge? How much do I need to treat approximately 150 feet of hedges?
We would not advise of using a hose end sprayer to apply Adonis 2F as a soil drench.

Yes, Adonis 2F is a great systemic product for treating trees with aphids. Please refer to the product label for mixing and application instructions. It can also be applied once every 6 months up against the structure (1 ft up and 1 ft out) for an insect barrier for crawling insects including ants.
Our (knockout) rose beds are difficult to access after spring greenup. It is much easier to apply soil treatments after the late winter pruning, and prior to adding mulch cover. Will a soil treament applied in late March still provide systemic protection from adult Japanese Beetles in mid-June and July once the beetles emerge?
Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide can take up to 8 weeks to be translocated throughout the plant and is best applied when roses are actively growing (but before pests are present) to be able to absorb the product. You will need to water in daily for 7-10 days after application to get it to the roots effectively. Applying closer to the time the beetles become active would be best.
I treated our knockout rose beds with Merit 0.5 G in mid-April, but the mid-June Japanese Beetle hatch in our area this year has been excessive and the beetles are doing quite a bit of damage to the rose plants (especially the blooms). Can Adonis 2F be foliar applied to treat the existing beetle infestation, or should a product with an active ingredient other than Imidacloprid be used since Merit has already been applied as a systemic treatment earlier in the season?
If beetles are an issue now it would be recommended to treat the foliage directly with something like Talstar P, taking care to avoid spraying the blooms. While Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide could be applied to the foliage, Talstar will have a faster kill as it does not have to be absorbed by the roses. Insects just have to contact a treated area long enough to receive a lethal dose.
What better product do you recommend?
While Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide will kill Termites that contact the treated areas. There are better options.
For drywood termites in general and in furniture, our suggestion would be to treat all new wood and untreated wood with Boracare. Boracare will absorb into the wood and kill any infestation already there plus protect your new wood. However, it can only be used on untreated and raw wood.
For any wood that is treated or can not be removed, we would suggest drilling little holes and injecting a product into the galleries such as Alpine Ant and Termite Foam which will foam through. It has a transfer effect so the termites will transfer it to other termites in inaccessible areas.
You should perform a liquid termite treatment in the ground to get the termites where they are entering your house or for preventative treatments. To perform a treatment just as a professional company would do, please read our How To Do A Termite Treatment Article which explains exactly how you should treat your home properly. Doing a treatment like what is described in the article will not only take care of existing termites that you have, but it will also protect and prevent future termites from entering for about 7 years.

We had our yard landscaped 3 years ago...ever since we have a terrible problem with white flies. Everything is dying. Indian hawthorne, hibiscus. We had yellow lantana but i recently pulled that out. There are just swarms when you walk through the grass. I have tried everything that home depot has to planting marigolds to soap and garlic.
I have aphid infestations on crape myrtles. I also need to treat mites on blue point junipers, Arizona cypress, Leyland cypress, and Italian cypress. I also have a serious problem with fleas in the yard where the dog pen is. For the two tree issues, I am looking for the proper systemic solution and spray option for while the systemic has a chance to work. For the flea infestation, I am looking for the products to put on the dogs and for the dog pen and to handle flea eggs - future generations. I have read that Imidacloprid is the best for the aphids. You suggest on this site to go with Adonis 2F but the percentage of the active ingredient is around a third that of the Bayer products (75%). Please advise... Thanks in advance.
Adonis 2F is not labeled to treat mites or fleas. It is labeled for treatment of aphids systemically. If you soil drench around the base of the tree for aphid control, you will need to get the measurements of your trees to determine how much product will be needed for treatment. Please refer to the product label for mixing and application instructions.
I would recommend applying the products from our Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit to the interior and exterior of the home when the pets are not in the area. Please click on the link for more information on mixing and applying the products for flea control.
