We had large black carpenter ants in the house on my balcony porch 30 ft high I used to bait as instructed with Max Force jell bait. Within days they were just an ant here and there in a month to 6 weeks not an ant anywhere. Now 6 months later not a sign of an ant anywhere in the house on the porch or in the hummingbird feeders. Using the two baits it was definitely a one-two punch one bait for sweet and one bait for protein it works.
So far, seems to be effective.

I'm in northern Michigan, in an area with little carpenter ant activity ( my yard is mostly wet/cool, very little sand), but with the Canada wild fires, I believe the carpenter ants are fleeing their normal areas and actively seeking new territory. My house is even Aluminum clad siding! Yes I know there is wood framing, so that's likely it. Even worse, I am putting my house on the market in 7 days and do NOT want a new buyer to be seeing these ants. Luckily I just noticed them while cleaning the garage last sunday. I immediately began seeking out literature - I'm in the real estate business so I know how important it is to get this remedied ASAP. Especially if anyone is going to do an inspection. I purchases the gel and bait and containers, they came today, I applied granular immediately and the gel afterwards both crevices and bait stations. I saw these carpenter ants come out within minutes, just 1-5 within 2 minutes, and they started grabbing the granules. I have not seen them go to the gel yet, but we'll see. I will report soon.

bought this product once before and was really happy with the results. I did have to use it a couple times but they did all go away. I have 5 acres and they pop up at random spots so I keep an eye out for them and with in a few days they are gone. Thank you for being there for me...
Advance Carpenter Ant Bait works!

Carpenter Ants were crunching away in my walls so loudly that I could hear them from the next room. It sounded like they were eating up the entire wall. I confirmed what they were (Google and my pest control guy). After researching, I found Advance Carpenter Ant Bait. The granules were easy to apply along the edge of my deck and around the deck where I saw the most ants. They readily picked up the bait and apparently carried it back into the walls where they had been chomping away for a couple of weeks. Overnight....seriously overnight.....the chomping stopped. They continued to come up onto the deck so I spent time (IMPORTANT: spend the time to watch them travel and you'll find their outdoor nest) following them and found a nest next to a small stump. I sprinkled the granules on top of some leaves over the nest and they immediately came BOILING out of the ground. The next day they were nowhere to be found and I haven't seen any since. I found a second nest over 30 feet from the first one by watching them go up a tree trunk over 20 ft high until I lost sight of them. There was a medium-sized dead limb that I assume they were nesting in---I didn't have a ladder. This colony wasn't as interested in the granules, so I purchased Maxforce FC Magnum gel (yes, it's advertised as a roach bait, not carpenter ant bait) but I purchased it because it contains way more Fipronil (plus what appears to be a couple of other chemicals---it gives the formulas----total 0.05%) than Maxforce Fleet (0.001% of just Fipronil). I'm not a chemist so don't hold me to the chemical makeup. I used this gel around the base of the tree plus small blobs (no bigger than a pencil eraser) along their path. They were gone in about 2 days. They looked like they were avoiding the gel and granules but apparently got enough of it on them or consumed enough to take care of the nest. I realize the Maxforce FC works in 2 ways---both by contact and ingestion---and I was afraid it might kill them before they made it back to the nest, but it worked! I also lightly sprinkled the Advance granules around the tree and deck, so the combination of the granules and gel is probably what did it. And you can buy just one tube of the FC vs several tubes of the Fleet. My pest control guy (they have a clause in their contract that states they don't cover termites or carpenter ants) said they either pay over $60 for an 8oz bottle of Advance, or they charge the customer $60 for every bottle they use. Bottom line: I paid $103 for two bottles of Advance granules (I have 1/2 of a bottle left over) and one tube of Maxforce FC (I have at least 3/4 of the tube left over. I don't see ANY ants after the final treatment approximately two weeks ago.
