    Q
How should Advion Ant Bait Gel be applied in a bathroom in areas where there is daily use?
    A

When using Advion Ant bait for indoor applications can include cracks and crevices; along walls or floors, in and around furniture and cabinetry, behind or under appliances, around sinks, within or near garbage collection areas. Inspect applications periodically for consumption/activity and apply additional bait as needed. You don't have to avoid your bathroom for days because you only want to apply Advion approximately 1/4" in. diameter spots (about the size of a pea).   See our Ant Pest Guide for more information about treating ants in and around your home.

  • Asked by James from Merritt Island Fl

    Q
Do I need to mix the Advion Ant Bait Gel with brown sugar?
I have crazy ants that like the brown sugar I use for water kefir. I put the Advion Ant Bait Gel on the tray with the kefir jars but they do not seem interested. Do I need to mix with brown sugar to get them to eat the bait?
    A

No, Advion Ant Bait Gel needs to be applied on its own. If you have the brown sugar near the bait, they may prefer the sugar to the bait so just remove the sugar.

  • Asked by Brandon from Lagrange, Ga

    Q
I got the Advion Ant Bait Gel and its a dark brown color. I got the exact identical tube and its a clear color.
Why is the exact same product diffrent colors I even put both Syringes beside each other and everything reads identical between the 2.
    A

According to the manufacturer, the Advion Ant Bait Gel is an off-white, opaque gel.  The manufacturers do source some of the raw ingredients from different places and this can make the product color vary. This does not impact the efficacy of the product.

  • Asked by Larry from Litchfield Park
    01/27/2020
    Q
If there is no ant activity, can you still use Advion Ant Bait Gel?
    A

If you do not have any ant activity, then you should not be placing the Advion Ant Bait out. The bait will be most attractive for about 2 weeks and up to a month. As the bait gets old and dry the food ingredients will get stale and be less attractive. You can use a residual spray for ant prevention such as Temprid FX. We have more tips in our Ant Prevention Guide.

  • Asked by Ed from St. Louis
    12/17/2019
    Q
Does Advion Ant Bait Gel work on flying ants?
    A

Advion Ant Bait Gel is labeled to target all major species of ants including Argentine, Big Headed, Carpenter, Cornfield, Crazy, Field, Ghost, Harvester, Honey, Little Black, Odorous House, Pavement, Pharaoh, Pyramid, Red Imported Fire Ant, Rover, Thief and White Footed.  Flying ants are just regular ants that are leaving to start a new colony. Indoors these ants will not be able to complete their mission to start a new colony and will soon die on their own. If they are a nuisance to you, you can use a pyrethrin aerosol such as Microcare to knock them down. If indeed you do have flying ants indoors this could also mean that you have an ant colony in a wall void or in some other inaccessible area indoors. You could try to put a little peanut butter and a little honey on a piece of foil near where you are seeing ant activity to see if they will start trailing. If they do form a trail this could point to where they are nesting. You will also be able to switch out the peanut butter (protein based) and honey (sugar based) for ant bait which in turn will eliminate the nesting ants. Please review our Ant Treatment Guide for more information.

    Q
Is the Advion Ant Bait Gel tip reusable? If so how do I clean?
    A

Yes, the tip that comes with the Advion Ant Bait Gel is universal and can be reused.  When you are not applying the gel, remove the tip and replace the cap on the tube, then wash the tip under warm water to clear it.

  • Asked by Scarlet from Georgia
    05/01/2019
    Q
How do you read the lot number or manufacturer date on Advion?
    A

Syngenta, the manufacturer of Advion, moved away from having a REL(release) date on their baits and they now come with a Lot # that corresponds to the production of that product. The first 3 letters will usually be "ABW" which can be ignored as this corresponds to the facility the batch was produced in. The next number is for the last digit of the year it was produced. For 2018 this would be ABW8 for example. To indicate the month it was produced, the letter after the year in the code would be in alphabetical order if January = A, February = B. So a Lot of ABW8B would be produced in February of 2018.

  • Asked by Judi from Portland, Or
    11/05/2018
    Q
What would cause Advion Ant Bait Gel to turn hard and white in a day?
It goes on soft but dries up and turns hard and white in a day. Then the ants don't seem very interested in it. Is it no longer working? I have them in the kitchen.
    A

Advion Ant Bait Gel will dry up quickly if used on porous surfaces such as paper, concrete, or cardboard. Use a less porous surface such as bait plate stations, if needed.  Avoid bait placements in areas exposed to air currents, such as in front of vents, as this will cause the bait to dry out more quickly. It is always recommended to use a protein bait, such as Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, in conjunction with a sweet bait such as Advion Ant Bait Gel.

  • Asked by Marjorie from St. Petersburg, Fl
    10/22/2018
    Q
Ants have been coming and going to and from the Advion Ant Bait Gel bait site for 30-40 days. When can I see an end to this process?
    A

How long it takes for Advion Ant Bait Gel to completely kill the ant colony depends on the size of the colony and how many colonies you are actually dealing with.  You should continue to bait as long as there is activity.  It can also depend on the type of ants you are dealing with.

  • Asked by Will from Texas

    Q
I have a line of ants on patio. Can I put the Advion Ant Bait Gel next to the line of ants on the patio?
    A

Advion Ant Bait Gel can be used outside, but will not stand up very well to outdoor elements. You may want to consider applying Termidor SC around the outside of the foundation for ant control. See our Ant Pest Guide for more information about treating ants in and around your home.
