    Do I need to mix the Advion Ant Bait Gel with brown sugar?
    I have crazy ants that like the brown sugar I use for water kefir. I put the Advion Ant Bait Gel on the tray with the kefir jars but they do not seem interested. Do I need to mix with brown sugar to get them to eat the bait?

    No, Advion Ant Bait Gel needs to be applied on its own. If you have the brown sugar near the bait, they may prefer the sugar to the bait so just remove the sugar.

    Where should I apply Advion Ant Bait Gel?
    A

    Advion Ant Bait Gel may be applied to pest entry sites such as along windows, doors, between construction elements, sewer areas, adjacent trees which ants are using as a nesting site, along walls, garbage holding areas, or other places acting as an ant nesting site. Inspect applications periodically for consumption/activity and apply additional bait as needed.

    Can I use Advion Ant Bait Gel in my strawberry garden?
    I have a container strawberry garden. It's infested with ants. I squirted about an inch of gel on the dirt. Will the ants traveling with the gel contaminate my garden and render the strawberries toxic?
    A

    We do not recommend treating edible vegetation outdoors with Advion Ant Gel. We would suggest discarding any fruit that was in contact with the product to be safe. It is recommended to treat with ant control products outside the drip line or 10-15 ft away from the strawberries. You could use ant baits in or around a garden in bait stations such as the Ant Cafe.

    What if the Advion ant gel has expired beyond a year? Is it still effective?

    The Advion Ant Gel has a shelf life of one year after the date of purchase.  Once it is applied, it will typically remain effective for about 3 months. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    We found 1 roach in our kitchen under the garbage can. A month ago, we also found one in the kitchen near the back door. Should we use Advion?

    Yes, we would recommend using Advion Gel Bait in areas where roaches tend to congregate or hide. Advion should be applied to areas frequented by cockroaches, such as around doors and windows, behind and under appliances, cabinets, drawers, sinks and openings where the plumbing pipes are.   For best results, Advion should be used in conjunction with Insect Growth Regulators, such as Gentrol Point Source Stations, for even more complete control of all life stages of cockroaches. For light to moderate infestations of cockroaches, apply 1-3 spots of Advion cockroach gel bait per 10 linear feet. Each spot of Advion gel bait should equal about 0.5 grams (approx. 1/4” diameter).

    Why isn’t Advion Ant Bait Gel killing the queen?
    Used Advion for 4 1/2 months. Think the ants are gone then a week or two later a few (between 3-30 or so) show up. This has happened over and over. All I can guess is it isn’t killing the queen. In past years it has worked beautifully but not this year. Help!

    It is recommended to not use an ant bait such as Advion Ant Bait Gel as a stand alone product for complete eradication. Also, it is a good idea to switch up the ant bait you are using once in a while to prevent any possible resistance issues and to keep the bait as attractive as possible.     How should Advion Ant Bait Gel be applied in a bathroom in areas where there is daily use?
    A

    When using Advion Ant bait for indoor applications can include cracks and crevices; along walls or floors, in and around furniture and cabinetry, behind or under appliances, around sinks, within or near garbage collection areas. Inspect applications periodically for consumption/activity and apply additional bait as needed. You don't have to avoid your bathroom for days because you only want to apply Advion approximately 1/4" in. diameter spots (about the size of a pea).   See our Ant Pest Guide for more information about treating ants in and around your home.

    I got the Advion Ant Bait Gel and its a dark brown color. I got the exact identical tube and its a clear color.
    Why is the exact same product diffrent colors I even put both Syringes beside each other and everything reads identical between the 2.

    According to the manufacturer, the Advion Ant Bait Gel is an off-white, opaque gel.  The manufacturers do source some of the raw ingredients from different places and this can make the product color vary. This does not impact the efficacy of the product.

    If there is no ant activity, can you still use Advion Ant Bait Gel?
    A

    If you do not have any ant activity, then you should not be placing the Advion Ant Bait out. The bait will be most attractive for about 2 weeks and up to a month. As the bait gets old and dry the food ingredients will get stale and be less attractive. You can use a residual spray for ant prevention such as Temprid FX.     I've put down the gel but the roaches don't even acknowledge it, what's wrong ?

    There are many factors that could decrease the effectiveness of Advion Ant Bait Gel.  Please see the Bait gel placement guide.   Be sure that there are no other competing food sources such as pet food, grease, crumbs. Also be sure you are only using small dabs where you are treating.

    Will Advion Ant Bait Gel work at all for cockroaches?
    I accidentally bought Advion Ant Gel instead of the cockroach gel.

    Although the active ingredients of the Advion Roach Bait Gel and the Advion Ant Bait Gel are the same, with a slight difference in percentage, the inert ingredients might be different to bait the pest in question specifically. If you haven't used it, you can return it and get the right product instead.

    What would cause Advion Ant Bait Gel to turn hard and white in a day?
    It goes on soft but dries up and turns hard and white in a day. Then the ants don't seem very interested in it. Is it no longer working? I have them in the kitchen.

    Advion Ant Bait Gel will dry up quickly if used on porous surfaces such as paper, concrete, or cardboard. Use a less porous surface such as bait plate stations, if needed.  Avoid bait placements in areas exposed to air currents, such as in front of vents, as this will cause the bait to dry out more quickly. It is always recommended to use a protein bait, such as Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, in conjunction with a sweet bait such as Advion Ant Bait Gel.

    I put Advion Ant Gel around the shower faucet. Will it remain effective if it gets wet?

    You do not want to put Advion Ant Bait Gel where it will come in contact with water directly because it could reduce the attractiveness and effectiveness of the product and could just be washed off.

    I have started Advion Ant gel and Advanced protein indoors
    I have started Advion Ant gel and protein indoors for a week. We saw an increase of carpenter ants eating the baits. When can I expect the numbers to die down a little? Also, noticing loner ants dying and mostly non responsive. Are we supposed to wait until they are fully dead before removing them to the trash?

    After using Advion Ant Bait Gel, it is typical to see more activity, which is a good thing as they are consuming the bait. It generally can take up to 30 days or before complete elimination depending the size of the colony and the number of colonies in the area.  You should continue to bait as long as you see activity

    Can advion be used under the house as well as inside?

    Yes, Advion Ant Bait Gel is labeled for places such as crawl spaces. We recommend using Bait Plate Stations if you plan on putting it out openly. Overall yes, baits would attract different species of ants, but as long as it is labeled for them they will take it back to their mound.

    How far will ants travel to the bait?
    Curious the distance that ants will travel for the advion ant bait gel? If I put it in one corner of the room...will they travel from another corner 10 feet away? Wondering the distance we need to cover for the best results. Especially if they are within the walls and we don't know where exactly.

    Advion Ant Bait Gel placements should be made where you have seen the ant activity, but they will travel several yards for a food source when they are actively foraging.  You can also refer to our Indoor & Outdoor Ant Treatment Guide for more recommendations, and you could consider treating the cracks and crevices indoors with a product like PT Phantom II for ant control.
