    Q
What happens after the Advion Roach Bait Gel dries?
    A

The gel will work even after it hardens though it does work best when it is soft. The gel will dry out quickly if you place it on a porous surface or if you place it in an area where it is exposed to air currents (heating or cooling vents). You can help avoid these situations by placing the Advion Roach Bait Gel in disposable bait plate stations.  Bait Plate Stations are low-profile, economic and easy-to-use plastic stations that hold gel, liquid and granular baits for ants, roaches and other crawling insects.

    Q
Is Advion Roach Bait Gel safe to use around reptiles?
    A

The Advion Roach Gel bait label states: "Do not treat areas that are easily accessible to children and pet." You will not want to place gel bait placements where reptiles would come into contact with the bait.

  • Asked by Jay from Slidell, La
    08/09/2016
    Q
If Advion Roach Bait Gel was gone within 24 hours should I reapply?
I have been seeing a few large cockroaches (German or American) here and there but recently a large influx of baby roaches (the size of a rice grain). On yesterday I completely cleaned out my food pantry and all cabinets where there was high activity of the babies and feces as suggested in your inspection page. I found the food source and removed it as well. After cleaning thoroughly I placed the gel bait as recommended. Today, all of the gel was gone to my surprise except in one spot (the only that was not a crack in the corner of the wall). I noticed the antennas of a large cockroach poking out of one of the holes. Should I just allow the bait to get spread throughout the light infestation or should I reapply where it once was. Also am I safe to use the Ortho Home Defense barrier spray outside my home as well as inside without disrupting the effectiveness of the gel bait?
    A

Most definitely you should re-apply the Advion Roach Bait Gel. This means that the roaches are eating the bait, and the more that eat the bait, the more of the population that will be eliminated. You should continue to put out the bait gel until the population is eradicated. You can use a residual spray outdoors around the home to help prevent future infestations.

  • Asked by Nermania from Dubai, Uae
    08/07/2016
    Q
How many Advion Roach Bait Gel tubes do I need for one application?
I have a small one bedroom apartment, with heavy infestation of German roaches.
    A

The amount of tubes needed to treat will vary. You will need to place new bait placements every couple of weeks in the kitchen, bathroom and other areas where you notice activity. A box of 4 tubes would be a great start. We also suggest using an insecticide spray such as Temprid SC and an insect growth regulator such as Gentrol Point Source Stations. Please take a few moments to read over our article How to Get Rid of Roaches to learn how to implement a successful roach control program.

    Q
Do you need to clean up old baits before putting down new bait?
What if you don't remember where you put it down before. Also, how often do you put down more bait?
    A

Yes, you should clean up the Advion Roach Bait Gel after a couple of weeks and make sure the surface is completely dry prior to reapplying. Bait should be applied every two weeks or as needed if they are consuming it quicker.

  • Asked by Rhonda from Covington, Ky

    Q
Would Advion be the right product to use for a heavy roach infestation in an apartment?
I just signed a one year lease for an apartment in a six unit building. I'm devastated because the roach infestation is like nothing I've ever seen before. I see upwards of 100 roaches a day throughout the five rooms. The landlord sprayed something that was utterly ineffective as are the variety of products I have bought myself. My sister used Advion in the past and highly recommends it for me. My concern is that without the other units using Advion, will my using it prevent the rest of the building's roaches from entering my treated unit?
    A

We would recommend that you dust the voids with Cimexa Dust using a dust applicator. Advion Roach bait is a great bait but with the amount of roaches that you currently are noticing, I would suggest using Maxforce FC Magnum (every couple of weeks-cleaning up previous bait placements) for a few months then switch to Advion after for another 3 months (replaceing every couple of weeks). I am not sure what and when the apartment was sprayed with so you may want to find out if you can if you plan to spray your apartment in the future. I can help you select a spray that will be effective for your needs and let you know when to treat based on the last application applied by the professional. Incorporating an insect growth regulator would be suggested also such as Gentrol Point Source Stations to impede their life cycle. You will want to keep the moisture sources down as much as possible inside of your unit and store food in airtight containers. You will want to clean out all large and small appliances also. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article/videos on How to Get Rid of Roaches for  inoformation on how to inplement a successful eradication program.

    Q
If the Advion Roach Bait becomes hard after application, is it still effective? For how long?
    A

Yes, Advion Roach Bait Gel will work even if it hardens, though it works best when it’s soft. We do recommend cleaning up and replacing any bait that has not been consumed every 2-3 weeks. You may want to take a look at our Roach Control Treatment Guide for further tips and information.

    Q
I have applied Advion Roach Bait Gel in my kitchen. Should I kill the roaches that have consumed the bait but are still alive?
    A

When using a bait like Advion Roach Bait Gel you want to avoid killing those roaches that you see as they need to stay alive to get the bait back to the colony and spread it to others.

  • Asked by Jeanette from San Diego, Ca

    Q
How soon after spraying Talstar P can I use Advion Roach Bait Gel?
I bought the Advion Roach Bait Gel and then sprayed Talstar P before I was told not to. We still see live roaches.
    A

When using Advion Roach Bait Gel it should be applied up high in areas that you do not spray, but they can be used around the same time.  We have a great video here that shows where to apply the bait.   Sprays such as Talstar P, would be applied down low, along base boards, behind the fridge/stove etc where you do not place the bait.  We have a great video here that shows where to spray for perimeter and interior spraying.

If you sprayed where you should be applying bait, you would want to thoroughly wash the area to remove any residual spray and then apply the bait as needed and directed on the label.

    Q
How long after applying a residual spray do I need to wait to use Advion Roach Bait Gel?
    A

You can use an insecticide spray and a bait like Advion Roach Bait Gel in the same room at the same time, just not on the same surfaces.  The rule of thumb is spray low (areas like baseboards, kick plates below cabinets, and under appliances) and bait high (in areas like inside cabinets and drawers and up higher near small appliances such as microwaves, toasters and coffee pots).  Please take a moment to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing a roach infestation.

  • Asked by Sheri from Portland, Or

    Q
What will happen if my cat licks the Advion Roach Bait Gel?
    A

The Advion Roach Bait Gel should be applied in very tiny dabs in places where the cat cannot access.  For the product to be harmful to your cat they would have ingest a large amount of the product.  If you do apply the gel correctly in tiny dabs, the cat should not even notice it.  Tiny dabs meaning less than half the size of a pencil eraser.  Places to put a tiny dab of roach gel are places where roaches can sometimes congregate. Common areas for roaches to hide are: hinges of door frames, around the door frame, along the side and underneath of any cabinets against the walls (tiny crack where they meet the wall), inside corners of cabinets and drawers, underneath the lip of the counter top every 8 to 10 inches, corners of window frames, behind and underneath any appliances like dorm fridges, microwaves, etc. According to the the Advion Roach Bait Gel MSDS:"Potential Health Effects-Based on animal testing, no biologically significant effects are expected from skin or eye contact or by ingestion." You should still read and follow the product label which recommends that you use the roach bait gel in places that will be inaccessible to your pet.

    Q
Did Advion Roach Bait Gel change the formula after buying rights from Dupont to Syngenta?
I've read that more recent reviews are saying that Advion changed the formula of the product and is no longer as effective as it is. Most reports from recent post late 2015 into 2016. Also, read the used by date is important, how do I know if the product I buy is as effective and and not old?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel contains the same active ingredient and formulation now as it was when it was manufactured by DuPont. Syngenta has only changed the packing to match the rest of their product line. It should be used within one year from the date of purchased (stored away from extreme temperatures). It should be reapplied once every two weeks (cleaning up previous bait placements). For more information, please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for a successful roach control program.

  • Asked by Adrienne from Hampton, Virginia
    12/12/2016
    Q
Is Advion Roach Bait Gel available in liquid form?
The german roaches in my apartment were all over this stuff when I first put it out but it dried up within a day and they wanted nothing to do with it. I saw that it was recommended that I use the bait plate stations so I did, but the bait still dried up after only a day. These roaches seem to really like the liquid bait (Hot Shot Ultra Liquid Roach Bait) that I used to put out but they have since become averse, causing me to look into other options. I'm sure a liquid version of this bait would be what I need to really knock them out, is this sort of thing available?
    A

Advion Roach Bait is only available in the gel and arenas (bait-filled stations). If you have been using the same bait for several weeks or months, then we would suggest switching to a different bait such as Maxforce Impact or Invict Gold. Baits will dry more quickly in dry areas, on porous surfaces such as concrete or wood, and in areas near vents or other air drafts. You may also need to inspect the area again for any possible competing moisture sources near sinks, drains, pet bowls, refrigerator drip pans, dishwashers, etc. Please let us know if we can further assist you.

  • Asked by Caroline from Eugene, Oregon
    01/18/2018
    Q
A pest control technician came in and laid the Advion Roach Bait Gel bait, but I am too afraid to turn the kitchen light off. Is it true that leaving the lights on will keep roaches out of the kitchen?
I am terrified of bugs, just the sight of a cockroach makes my heart beat out of my chest. Also, will leaving my apartment for a week or two make the roach problem worse?
    A

While roaches are typically nocturnal creatures and prefer darkness, leaving the light on would not completely keep them from coming out for Advion Roach Bait Gel. I would think the process may take a longer as they prefer darkness when scavenging for food and water. We cannot say whether leaving the apt would make it worse as we do not know the level of infestation you are having. When treating for roaches we recommend retreating every 10-14 days with a combination of products. That includes Gentrol Point Source Packs (insect growth regulator to stop reproduction) and spraying a residual insecticide along the baseboards, behind appliances, in corners, along underside of cabinets, etc and baiting. Old bait placements need to be removed and fresh bait should be reapplied every 10-14 days. The Gentrol Point Source packs last for 90 days so those do not need to be touched for 90 days. Please take a moment to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information and tips on treating this pest and preventing future infestations.
