Advion Roach Bait Gel is a slow kill so that it has time to be taken back to the colony and spread. Roaches can start dying within a few hours to longer. How long it takes to eliminate a roach infestation depends on how large the infestation is, how consistent and thorough you are being with treatments and what products you are using. There is not a set time; it can take but it can take weeks or months even to get complete control. Advion Roach Bait gel is typically not used alone but in combination with other products. Yes, roaches can become resistant to Advion Roach Bait Gel (or any other roach bait gel) over time if the same active ingredient is continuously used. We do recommend switching up roach bait gels periodically so that this does not happen. Please take a look at our selection of roach bait gels for some other options. Roaches are a persistent pest and require multiple treatments using a combination of products in order to be completely eradicated. No, Advion Cockroach Gel Bait does not release chemicals into the air.
The manufacturer of Advion Cockroach Gel Bait has recently changed how they mark the product with the release date. Per the manufacturer it does have a 5 year shelf life from this date.
Per the manufacturer, the shelf life of Advion Cockroach Gel Bait is up to 5 years as long as it’s stored in a temperature controlled environment and out of direct sunlight. Our product comes directly from the manufacturer.
The only real con to leaving old Advion Cockroach Gel Bait in place is that it can become very hard to remove from the surface it was applied to.
There is no valid reason to mix bait gels. It will not increase effectivess. You can certainly alternate between Advion Cockroach Gel Bait and Maxforce Impact Roach Gel Bait. The active ingedient in Advion Cockroach Gel Bait is a non repellent that is slow acting. This allows roaches to feed on the bait, take bait back to the colony and transfer to other roaches. We would recommend not killing or disturbing roaches and allow them to continue their normal activity to ensure the bait is taken bait to colony and transfered. Any dead roaches can be removed.
The time it takes Advion Cockroach Gel Bait to work depends on the level of infestation so results will vary. It is recommended to replace bait placements after 14 days if roach activity is still present and continue to retreat every 14 days until roach activity has ceased. The IGR is an important part of a successful roach treatment plan to help stop the reproduction cycle and prevent juvenile stages from maturing to adults but does not have any killing properties to it.
If you are not currently using a residual insecticide like Advion WDG or Temprid FX to treat along baseboards, behind appliances, under and behind cabinets & sinks, around windows, doors and in corners, this is an effective way to eliminate roaches through contact as they cross treated areas. Residual insecticides are also the best way to prevent roaches, ants and other insects in the home.
** Do not spray on top of bait placements or place bait placements on top of where an insecticide is applied.

Per the label: Advion Cockroach Gel Bait may also be applied as a spot or thin bead to pest entry sites such as along windows, doors, between construction elements, sewer areas, adjacent trees which harbor cockroaches, along walls, garbage holding areas, or suitable placement site acting as a cockroach harborage. Place baits in such a way as to reduce the potential of subsequent human contact. Inspect Advion Cockroach Gel Bait placements periodically and apply fresh bait as needed. A thorough inspection around a structure may reveal areas where cockroaches are gaining access. Attempts should be made to remove the access.
Advion Roach Bait Gel will not kill crickets as it is only labeled for roaches. The most effective means of controlling crickets is by applying baits such as InTice or Niban. Advion Roach bait will not kill Carpenter ants. Phantom would be a great product to use. Pests can't even detect Phantom, so they walk right over it and then spread it to other insects hidden behind walls or in their home colony, killing every other pest they come in contact with. If you know where the ant nest is, then you can spray it directly. Be sure to keep the spray away from your bait. Spray low bait high.
