Advion Fire Ant Bait should not be used on an area of edible vegetation. We recommend that you treat outside the dripline of the garden only.
Advion Fire Ant Bait has a shelf life of 2 years unopened. Once opened, it should be used within 6 months.
We would recommend Advion Fire Ant Bait. It will control the entire fire ant colony in just 24 to 74 hours and can be used either for broadcast applications or for treating fire ant mounds directly. It is safe for both pets and children when used as directed. When you apply the product properly in a broadcast application you only have to keep the pets and children out of the area during the application. Once the product is broadcast, only a very minute amount will be available (and a child or dog would be very hard pressed to even find that amount in a broadcast application) which would not be enough to harm your dogs or child. The product SDS also says that the product is not likely to be hazardous if inhaled, swallowed or if it comes into contact with skin.
Advion Fire Ant Bait is not labeled to be used in pastures where horses and other companion animals graze as it not safe for them to consume.
You shouldn’t apply Advion Fire Ant Bait if the soil is wet with dew, irrigation, or rainfall. Do not apply this product if rain is expected within 3 hours of the application. Rainfall or irrigation within 2 to 3 hours after application may reduce effectiveness and a repeat application within 7 days may be necessary to achieve the desired level of control.
Advion Fire Ant Bait contains multiple food based ingredients that act as attractants in the bait, but that specific information is privy to the manufacturer.
Advion Fire Ant Bait should not be applied inside the dripline of fruit trees to prevent contamination as it is not labeled to be used around edibles.
Make an application with broadcast equipment capable of applying 1.5 pounds of Advion Fire Ant Bait per acre. Calibrate and adjust equipment prior to application to ensure that the proper rate of product will be applied. We recommend checking with the spreader manufacturer for settings. Retreat after 12-16 weeks if needed.
The Advion Fire Ant Bait product label does not mention any restrictions or precautions regarding using this product on properties where water is provided by a well.
You do not have to have a broadcast spreader to apply Advion Fire Ant Bait though it can make the application a bit easier for you. You can simply just sprinkle the bait around (not on) the mounds as directed on the product label. As long as the spreader you have can be calibrated to spread the small amount needed per acre you could use it. Please contact the manfacturer of the spreader for specific settings.
