    Q
Is Alpine WSG safe to apply to herbaceous plants?
I'd like to try Alpine WSG to eliminate a scale infestation on my orchids, is this safe for the plants?
    A

Alpine WSG is not labeled for ornamental pests such as scale. We suggest Safari 20SG which has many applications for ornamental plants. Since orchids can be very sensitive, we always recommend testing a small area first for tolerance or consulting with a local or national orchid care group for their advice as well.

    Q
What is the Group Classification of Alpine WSG? Rotation group classification
I am not able to locate this information on the SDS Sheet or Product Label however I can find where Demand Duo is Group 4a/3a.
    A

Alpine WSG uses soley the active ingredient Dinotefuran which is a Class 4A Neonicotinoid.

Demand Duo using Thiamethoxam (4A) and Lambda-cyhalothrin (3A) is referred to a “dual mode of action” insecticide meaning it contains 2 different class active ingredients which help prevent resistance or aversion that can develop with using the same class insecticide over a period of time.

    Q
How far from bodies of water should Alpine WSG applications be applied?
    A

Alpine is highly toxic to all aquatic life and should not be used near any bodies of water including rivers, ponds or lakes. Applications should be avoided in areas where any runoff or drainage could occur from irrigation or heavy rainfall.

EcoVia EC or Essentria IC3 are both options for treating insects around bodies of water without harming aquatic life. Please reivew the product labels for application rates and more information.

    Q
Alpine WSG has Groundwater Advisory mentioned on the product label, how can we be sure this wont leak into groundwater and contaminate?
    A

Alpine WSG *Dinotefuran) has strong potential to leach to the subsurface under certain conditions as a result of label use therefore we would recommend contacting your County Extension Office or State Regulatory Office for their regulations on the approved distance around wells when applying insecticides.

Per the Alpine WSG product label, using this product where soil is permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in groundwater contamination.

    Q
Can you mix Alpine WSG with Permacap CS, or Cyzmic CS?
    A

While there is a not a specific indication on the Alpine WSG label that you cannot mix it with other insecticides, we do not recommend mixing Alpine WSG with another residual insecticide such as Permacap CS or Cyzmic CS. This is because the Alpine WSG is a non-repellent insecticide, so mixing it with another residual insecticide would negate those non-repellent/transfer effects for social insects such as ants. Depending on the target pets(s), using these products in rotation would be more practical.

    Q
How long after applying Alpine WSG does it take to see results if spraying outdoors over sugar ant trail?
Hours after spraying sugar ant trails they are still active. How long for knockdown to be noticeable. Sprayed outdoors.
    A

Alpine WSG is a non repellent insecticide therefore will not provide an immediate or quick knockdown of insects. Non repellents are slower acting which is best for social insects such as ants, roaches, etc as it allows the ants to transfer the active ingredient throughout the colony.

This product leaves a 30 to 60 day residual outdoors. Applications should be made to any trails, inside or outside, around doors and windows and other places where ants may enter premises.

For indoor applications, using  Alpine WSG along with both an ant bait gel (sweet) and granule bait (protein) in bait plate stations is a very effective treatment.

    Q
Can Alpine WSG be mixed with ExciteR for roaches?
    A

Alpine WSG can be mixed with a synergist such as ExciteR Insecticide but it is not generally recommended. ExciteR kills on contact while Alpine WSG leaves a non repellent residual that they take back with them. If you kill them too soon they will not have a chance to take it back with them

    Q
Can I mop with Alpine WSG and use it as a broadcast application?
Can I use this with a spray mop? I have fleas and need to do a broadcast application on the floor with an even layer. I have one of those spray mops that has a built in bottle that hold at least half a gallon of water.
    A
Alpine WSG should not be used as a mop solution.  It is mixed with water and applied with a pump sprayer as directed on the product label.  For fleas the product label states: Apply to infested areas or potentiallly infested areas, such as rugs, floors, carpets, upholstered furniture, pet beds and pet resting areas.  When applying to upholstered furniture, treat under cushions and areas where flea development can occur.

    Q
    Can Alpine WSG kill no-see-ums?
I've been having a problem with no CMS for 8 months and can't find anything to kill them
    A
Alpine WSG is not labeled for noseeums/gnats.  We would recommend using Talstar P. It is a very good general insecticide that is labeled for noseeums. This can be broadcast across your lawn, sprayed on bushes, trees, flowers, etc. It should not be sprayed on water or any type of edible. You can use Talstar P as a broadcast spray over your lawn, sprayed on bushes, trees, flowers, etc. It should not be sprayed on water or any type of edible. You want to concentrate on areas where see a lot of activity. Talstar P will not keep new gnats away, but it should eliminate the gnats that land of the treated surface.
