The Steamax Bed Bug Steamer/steam vapor system uses electricity to heat the water in it's tank, creating steam under pressure.  When the pressure reaches approximately 65 psi, the temperature of the steam reaches about 290° F and the moisture content of the steam goes down to about 5%.  An electronically controlled solenoid valve releases pressure from the tank, and the pressure to the tip is regulated with a manual valve similar to a water faucet.  The steam travels from the tank to the nozzle through a pressure line inside an insulated hose.  At the tip, the variety of brushes or other accessories  allows the steam to reach the dirty surface while brushing action is applied, releasing and removing dirt and stain particles from the surface you are cleaning.

    Loved it, but short lived

    By Anonymous on 05/31/2013

    Verified Purchase

We run this thing 3-4 hrs per day 5 days a week for bed bug treatments. I love the dual speed and the always on triggers. The hoses are durable and have not failed. However, in under 12 months the inner workings of the body melted, cracked and burned the wires. Thank God no fires but I am shopping already and that does not make me happy.

    WONDERFUL Product!

    By Virginia on 09/29/2013

I've had my machine for many years & wouldn't know how to clean my house(2300 sq ft) without it. I have indoor dogs & always feel my house is clean with no chemicals. I just finished cleaning a Victorian house I inherited (over 100 years old & 4,000 sq. ft +). I have to say the AmeriVap made this job so much easier than using traditional methods of cleaning. It made cleaning all that molding, woodwork, windows, tile and old hard wood floors a piece of cake. It's a great product. I'd certainly buy another one for my home.

Q
Can you steam the mattress after you treat it with the Phantom spray for bed bugs?

I recently bought some phantom spray and also Amerivap steamax from your company to treat bedbugs. I wonder whether I can steam the mattress after treating it with phantom spray. If so, when can I do it after phantom spray? Should I do it immediately or wait for some time. IF so how long? Or should I just steam my mattress and then use the spray after?

A
You should steam the mattress and all other surfaces first before applying any insecticide.  This is because it is very difficult for any insecticide, cleaning product, or anything else really to withstand that type of steam and at that temperature.  Chances are the steam would instantly remove any traces of Phantom or any other product you have applied.  So for this reason, we always recommend steaming first and then applying the product.

Q
If I am not able to see any bedbugs, how will I know if I have gotten rid of all them?
A
The test to see if you still have bedbugs is actually if you, or the occupants of the infested room, do not receive a bite in a 30 day period. That is the "test" most professionals use. A lot of areas also offer bedbug sniffing dogs which may be more effective but also quite expensive.

Q
Does the steamer have to come in contact with the bedbugs? How does that work if they only come out at night?
A
Steam must come into direct contact with bedbugs to kill them. You need to steam the most likely hiding spots instead of waiting for them to come out. Steam all of the ticking, seams and folds of furniture. Steam all of the cracks and crevices on furniture. Steam any other place you suspect the bedbugs may be hiding.

Q
Is the AmeriVap Steamax a continuous water fill?

can you add water to the water reservoir while the machine is in use?

A

The Amerivap Steamax Steam Cleaning System is not a continuous fill. This is because the steamer pressurizes the tank to create the PSI and the proper temperature in the boiler, so opening it would release the pressure. When refilling with water it should only take 8-10min for the refill time to re-reach the max temp of 290 degrees, and if you are using it on the medium setting, you should get 1-1 ½ hours of continuous run time from one tank.

Q
Is it for shear drapes and black out drapes?
A
The AmeriVap Steamax Steam Cleaning System can be used in seams and folds of furniture,
all of the cracks and crevices on furniture, any other place you suspect the bedbugs may be hiding, any area that can withstand that type of steam and at that temperature. Most curtains and drapes can be laundered, dry cleaned or steam treated. Please refer to the label for instructions for the fabric.
