Details

AmTide MSM 60 DF Herbicide controls weeds by post-emergence activity. For best results, apply AmTide MSM 60 DF Herbicide to young, actively growing weeds. The use rates depend upon the weed spectrum and size of weeds at application. The degree and duration of control may depend on the following factors:

  • Weed spectrum and infestation intensity
  • Weed size at application
  • Environmental condition at and following treatment

Warning: MSM herbicides are not recommended for cool season grasses. Examples of cool season grasses are Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, and fine fescue. MSM may burn or otherwise damage these grass types. MSM is recommended for use on warm season grasses, preferably South of Virginia and below.

    100% bahia free now

    By David on 08/09/2014

    Verified Purchase

Bought this after a little resesrch on bahia removal and it worked great. Sprayed in May before seed heads came and 2 weeks later the bahia was completely dead. The yard looked terrible because of the high percentage of bahia but after heavy fertilizer and water I now have a thick bermuda lawn that is filling in nicely. This stuff is strong. Do your research before use because it is known to kill oaks.

Q
Can I inject AmTide MSM 60 DF Herbicide into the thick vines of English Ivy that are growing on my trees to kill the plant?

I need a solution to my problem because the trees are falling down from the English Ivy infestation. The problem is on at least ten trees.

A

AmTide MSM 60 DF Herbicide is not labeled for English Ivy. Using a product such as Fertilome Brush Killer and Stump Killer would be a better option for a broad range of target weeds, vines, and woody brush.

For best results when treating vines such as poison oak, poison ivy, etc. that grow on or around desirable plants, cut the vine first and treat by applying undiluted product directly to the stems of the vine using paint brush to get full coverage.

As a foliar treatment, mix 8-16 tablespoons per gallon of water for every 500 sq.

Q
Will AmTide MSM 60DF kill catchweed bedstraw?

I have 5 acres of a hay field that is heavy with bedstraw this year. There is no mention of bedstraw in the Amtide pamphlet. How much per acre is needed?

A

No, Amtide MSM 60 DF Herbicide is not labeled for catchweed bedstraw. We would recommend using a pre-emergent product to control this weed, such as OH2 Ornamental Herbicide. This can be applied in early spring or early fall.

Q
Can I use AmTide MSM 60 DF on Floratam and St. Augustine for Dollarweed?

I'm in Central Florida and have broadleaf and Dollarweed issues and have a couple of questions: -Can it be mixed with Quicksilver if needed? -What is the approximate time before new grass or shrubs can be planted after treatment?

A

Amtide MSM 60 DF can be used on St Augustine grass to control dollarweed. Please note as per the Amtide product label that a second application will be needed to control this weed. You should be able to mix Amtide with Quicksilver but you should be sure to test the products together for compatibility as per the product label instructions.  Do not plant ornamentals such as shrubs, and trees in treated areas for at least 1 year after the last application, or bedding plants for at least 2 years.

Q
Will AmTide MSM 60 DF Herbicide kill Chameleon plants?
A

AmTide MSM 60 DF Herbicide is not labeled for chameleon plants.  There is nothing labeled for this invasive ground cover and even non-selective herbicides do not seem to be very effective in getting rid of this pesky invader. You could try a combination of soil sterilants and a non-selective herbicide in that area to try to control the plant but we cannot guarantee it will work. It is important to note that nothing will be able to grow in this area for at least a year after an application of a soil sterilant and that if you are treating on an incline the soil sterilant could travel through the soil and kill desirable nearby plants.

Q
I have a 25 gal sprayer. I am Killing kudzu and weeds in a pine tree plantation. How many oz. to 25 gal?

How many oz. to 5 gal. For normal weeds in St. Augustine grass in my yard?

A
According to the product label: Use on St. Augustinegrass, Bermudagrass and Zoysiagrass (Meyers and Emerald)
Apply 0.25 to 1.0 oz. AmTide MSM 60 DF HERBICIDE per acre for weed control. Some chlorosis or stunting of the turfgrass may occur following application.
RELEASE—HARDWOOD CONTROL AND SUPPRESSION
AmTide MSM 60 DF HERBICIDE is recommended for application over the top of established slash and loblolly pine to control the species listed in “Weeds Controlled” and “Brush Species Controlled” section of this label. Apply 1 to 4 ounces per acre to control the species indicated, including kudzu.
Keep in mind when dealing with herbicides, the amount of water is not the key in application. As long as you are following the label and dispersing the correct amount of product over the correct amount of area, the amount of water you use doesn't matter. On average you want to use at least 1-2 gallons of water per 1000 sq/ft you are treating. If it takes you 25 gallons of water to cover an acre, then you would mix up to 1 ounce of Amtide to the 25 gallons. If it takes you 50 gallons to cover an acre, you would split what you plan to use in half and treat half an acre at a time. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
