    Q
Is there another product with longer residual other than Bifen IT in the Texas heat?
I've been using Bifen IT here in the Dallas summer heat and it's been doing ok. I spray on concrete, around our house and all of our flower / garden areas. We live next to a pond/lake and trying to control mostly spiders, mites, mosquitoes, silverfish, fire ants, crane fly.
    A

Bifen IT is a great product for all the insects you have mentioned, but another good product to be used outdoors is Cyzmic CS. That is because Cyzmic CS has a CapVantage Micro Encapsulation which means that each droplet of insecticide is encased in a protective microscopic capsule, providing a long residual, even in direct sunlight or other harsh weather conditions. The only insect Cyzmic CS is not labeled for that you mentioned is crane flies. Most products are still only going to provide a 30 day residual outdoors in the summer. Be sure to check out our Pest Guides for more details about the most common structural pests.

    Q
How long will Bifen IT store after mixed ?
    A
Bifen IT should be used up within 24 hours of diluting it with water. The longer an insecticide stands in a diluted state the less effective it becomes.  You should never store product in your sprayer as it will weaken the gaskets and other pieces within the sprayer shortening the life of the sprayer.

    Q
Which product recommended to kill mosquito?
I own a still backpack fogger. Right now I'm using vector ban plus to kill the mosquitos at home. It works but it seems like I need to spray every night. We get afternoon showers every day at this time of the year in the south which brings out more mosquitos. I was thinking of ordering Bifen and Demon Max and spraying them in rotation. Any advice on any of these 3 products are another recommendation would help. I want a quick kill and I also would like a residual
    A

Vector Ban Plus does not leave any kind of residual so will only kill the mosquitoes that are out in the open at the time you are applying to product.

You are on the right track with using a residual product like Bifen IT or Demon Max, it is actually our most popular product for mosquitoes.  The key is to apply it to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes as that is where the adults lay during the day. Bifen would be the more recommended as it known to be super gentle on plants but you can rotate them as well.

    Q
Have been using Bifen IT with good results for pests, but could you recommend something with a quick knockdown?
    A
The ExciteR Insecticide is specifically designed to be added to any insecticide you are already using to provide you with a much stronger and faster initial knock down, while the Bifen continues to give you the longer lasting residual. However, we may be able to give you a more accurate product recommendation if we know what pest in particular you are treating for and wanting a quicker knock down with. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Which is better for mosquitoes, Bifen IT or Bifen XTS?
I see that the XTS has a higher amount of 25.1% bifenthrin. I was just wondering if the XTS would be better for the mosquito control. Also I have about a 1 1/2 acre pond is there something better to handle bigger areas of water than those dunk tablets?
    A

Bifen I/T is one of our most popular products for mosquito control.  Bifen XTS is basically the same product, just in a higher concentration, and oil-based instead of water-based. Either sprayer or mister application would be effective with either product as long as the application is thorough.  Oil-based products such as Bifen XTS can stain some surfaces.  This is not usually a concern in most areas outside, but you should use caution when treating around the siding of a home.  Most oil-based products such as Bifen XTS do have a "chemical" odor but it is not especially strong.

Do not spray any bifenthrin product in a way that would contact the pond with direct spray, drift, or runoff.

Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so if there are any areas of standing water where you are treating, those should be treated as well with Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvicide if you prefer not to use BTI Mosquito Dunks.

    Q
Is it ok to Mix Bifenthrin and permethrin together also with a IGR (NyGuard) for a lawn application. To have
the permethrin for the fast knockdown and the bifenthrin for longer residual and the IGR to break the flea and other life cycles. Or should I only use the bifenthrin. I dont want the two chemicals to work against each other and have negative results. Thanks
    A

We would not recommend mixing Bifenthrin and Permethrin together. The Bifenthrin mixed with an IGR is effective as well as mixing Permethrin with an IGR, such as NyGuard. Nyguard does have a residual for 4-5 months. With fleas, keep in mind that multiple applications are needed for them to be eradicated. After the first application, a follow up treatment should be done every 14 days until the fleas are gone.

    Q
    Can I recharge Bifen IT?
Instead of dumping the surplus mixed Bifen IT somewhere, with whatever toxicicity concerns that entails, can I just keep the mix in the jug and re-dose the old mix a month or two later with a new shot of Bifen?
    A

No, once Bifen IT has been mixed with water it either needs to be used or discarded within 24 hours of mixing with water. Do not let Bifen IT sit in the sprayer for longer than 24 hours as the dilution starts to separate and will clog the lines of your sprayer.

    Q
What type of weather should I put the Bifen IT out in? Rainy, cold, hot?
    A
All of our liquid insecticides including Bifen IT should be applied in dry weather, not rainy weather.  All of the liquid insecticides are made to bond to dry surfaces and will last longer when applied when it is dry and not going to rain for at least 24 hours.  The temperature does not matter as much.  It can be applied in hot or cold weather, but it must be dry and not wet to work at its highest potential.

    Q
Why is Bifen IT so much cheaper than Cy-kick CS? Aren't they both the same thing?
Which one is best for outdoors?
    A
No, they are not the same. Bifen It is a generic form of Talstar P and contains the active ingredient bifenthrin. Bifen IT is great for indoor/outdoor general pest control and is very safe to use around pets and people, non irritating to the skin, will not stain, is odorless, and stands up well to rainfall. Talstar P is the product of choice for mosquito control too.  Cy-Kick CS is a micro encapsulated product that contains Cyfluthrin. Cy Kick-CS is known to be super effective for those hard to kill insects such as spiders and scorpions and it will last a bit longer outdoors.

    Q
Bifen application when it's always raining
I know it's always best to have 24 hours between application and the first rain, but in my area at this time of year it rains every single day. I'm sure that "more is better" is another safe generalization, but is there any more concrete guideline that you can offer? Would it be a waste to spray if it's going to rain in 2 hours? What about 4, 6, etc? Thanks again, love your service and products!
    A

Bifen IT typically only take 1 hour to completely dry on a surface and will hold up very well in the rain, but the longer time you can have between application and a rain event the better.  However, if a few hours is the best scenario then that is fine.  Hopefully, you are in a situation where at least up against the house you may have a slight overhang from the roof or gutters so the application on and directly next to the house will be somewhat protected.  Thank you for your kind comments about our products.  We appreciate your business!
