Yes, we do have products that are comparable to Diazinon since it has been outlawed due to safety regulations. We would recommend Bifen IT. It is great for indoor and outdoor use. Indoors, you will spray along the baseboards and cracks and crevices. It lasts for 90 days. Outdoors, you can broadcast across your lawn, spray along the perimeter of your home, on flowers and also ornamentals. This lasts for 30 days outside. This product is not labeled to be sprayed on edibles. It is labeled for ticks, mosquitoes and various other pests as well.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
No, if applied as a crack and crevice application along baseboards, around window and door frames, in corners, under cabinets & sinks, etc as instructed per the product label, the areas where Bifen IT has been applied do not need to be cleaned after application.
Bifen IT is not designed to be used along the perimeter of lakes since it is harmful to aquatic life. We recommend keeping Bifen IT treatments at least 25 feet from bodies of water to avoid runoff into the lake. You could use EcoVia instead which many folks use to treat their docks for mosquitoes and other insects.
For Armyworm control, Bifen IT is applied at 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft with repeat applications done every 30 days.
Please view our Armyworm Treatment Guide for more information.
Bifen IT is a great product for all the insects you have mentioned, but another good product to be used outdoors is Cyzmic CS. That is because Cyzmic CS has a CapVantage Micro Encapsulation which means that each droplet of insecticide is encased in a protective microscopic capsule, providing a long residual, even in direct sunlight or other harsh weather conditions. The only insect Cyzmic CS is not labeled for that you mentioned is crane flies. Most products are still only going to provide a 30 day residual outdoors in the summer. Be sure to check out our Pest Guides for more details about the most common structural pests.
When using Bifen IT for armyworms irrigation is not necessary. You actually need to try to have no irrigation or rainfall for at least 24 hours after the application. Under chinch bug treatment it does advice that in order to optimize the penetration of the insecticide you can water the area prior to the treatment. If grass is being kept at a long mowing height or if the thatch layer is excessive, use higher volume treatments. It may be necessary to use higher application rates (up to 1 fluid oz. per 1000 square feet) to control populations made up of both adults and nymphs in mid-summer. Complete instructions are on the product label for each pest as well.
Bifen IT should be applied every 30 days. It can take a few days to start seeing results, especially if you are dealing with a heavy infestation.
