    Q
How long does Bifen I/T to kill a tick?
    A

When using Bifen IT for ticks, there can be several variables. How long it takes the ticks to die after they come into contact with a treated area will depend on a number of factors, such as the age of the tick as well as how long they stayed in contact with the treated area, how long it has been since the area was treated, and the concentration that was used to treat the area. Typically it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day or so for them to die. It can take several weeks for you to stop seeing ticks completely because ticks like to stay hidden, which also means they could be staying away from treated areas. We recommend doing follow up treatments every two weeks at the highest usage rate of 1 oz of product per gallon of water until you do not see any ticks.

    Q
Is Bifen IT safe for use around tree frogs and aquariums?
I see it is for other pets. Looking for a good product that is safe for all my pets. I have an issue with ants.
    A

Bifen IT can be toxic to aquatic life, so it should not be used indoors in or near aquariums or reptile habitats. Bifen IT is safe to use outdoors as directed on the product label and indoors as a crack and crevice treatment. For other pets such as dogs and cats, it is safe if animals are kept out of the treatment area until the application is dry. If you are having trouble with ants indoors, then our Indoor Ant Kit is a great choice. This kit contains two different baits which get carried throughout ant colonies, refillable bait stations, plus Temprid Ready Spray to be used along doorways, window frames, and other places where ants are likely to enter the structure. You should always cover aquariums before using insecticide sprays indoors. Our most popular choice for treating ants outdoors is Taurus SC used around the perimeter of the home. Please see our Ant Treatment Guide for more tips and product recommendations.

    Q
Does Bifen IT work on "blister bug"?
We had these in our garden last year and sprayed for them once, but didn't go back and do it again for the eggs.
    A
You didn't mention what type of garden you have. Is it a flower garden or a vegetable garden? If it is a flower garden Bifen IT should work very well to help eliminate the blister beetles. Bifen IT is not labeled for use on edible plants. If it is a vegetable garden you will need to use a product that is labeled for use on edible vegetation such as Sevin or Natural Guard Insecticidal Soap. Be sure you read the product label of the product you choose before purchasing to make sure the plants you need to treat are listed. Product labels are on individual product pages under the picture of the product. You should also note that we didn't find any products that were specifically labeled for blister beetles so we recommended products that eliminate general garden pests. When pests are not specifically listed on product labels it is usually because these pests do not damage enough crops as to be agriculturally significant.

    Q
Can Bifen IT be used to control/kill fleas in an empty house?
Just purchased a house and the previous owner had dogs which were not treated and the yard was not treated. we are working on the house and there is nothing inside and am just wondering if this can be used along the baseboards/windows/etc since the house is empty?
    A
You can use Bifen IT in all of the cracks and crevices along baseboards, door frames, window frames and places where cables pipes and wires enter through the walls and it will help control fleas in that area. Bifen IT cannot be used as a broadcast spray indoors over floors where fleas are known to develop and because of this is not usually chosen for flea control indoors. We recommend you use Ultracide for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. A critical part of the diet of the larva is dried blood, present there as fecal material from the fleas that are on the pets. Wherever the pets spend time, they will shed the fecal matter and the eggs, so it is extremely important that you focus on these potential hot spots where the pets sleep. A vacuum also will remove a small percentage of larvae, but the larva is pretty tenacious, and will wrap around the carpet fibers down there at the base of the pile, and hold on for dear life as the vacuum passes by. The pupa is even tougher to physically remove, for it uses fibers as part of its "cocoon". The vacuum will stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum. Even if they are not removed by the vacuum, at least they now are exposed and susceptible to your treatment.   After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Ultracide and continue with the vacuuming.

    Q
Will Bifen IT kill bed bugs?
Will Bifen IT kill and eliminate bed bugs and their eggs?
    A

Bifen I/T woud not be recommended for controlling bedbugs at all.

If bedbugs have been found in the home you will want to follow our detailed bedbug guide which will take you through each step necessary to completely eliminate the population. As you go through the guide linked below you will see the non chemical steps (such as washing and drying clothes and linens) as well as chemical steps including where and how to use each product. Our Bed Bug kits are the best route to make sure you are using the best products on the market and without breaking the bank. Each kit is designed to treat a different size home or number of rooms, so you can choose the one best suited to the areas you have effected by the pest problem. The kits come with all the products need to do a complete treatment in all the places bed bugs can hide and enough product to complete roughly 4 repeat applications. Since every home and infestation is different you will want to do diligent and meticulous treatments with the products every 7-14 days until you can go 30 days in a row with no signs of live bed bugs and no new bites on the occupants of the home. If you have any questions regarding info you see in our guide or the products within the kits please let us know and we would be more than happy to assist you.

    Q
Is Bifen IT good for crazy ants?
    A

Bifen IT is labeled for ants in general.

For crazy ants, we generally recommend our Raspberry/ Cariibean Crazy Ant Kit. It comes with everything you will need to do a complete treatment for crazy ants.

It is recommended the maximum use rate of InVict Blitz Ant Granules be applied on the initial application. InVict Blitz Ant Granules, a bait specifically designed to be palatable to Rasberry/Caribbean Crazy ants.  InVict Blitz will be identified as a food by worker ants and carried back to the colony to be fed to the larvae.  InVict Blitz contains imidacloprid and when fed to the ant colony will cause high mortality through ingestion and transfer to other ants.  It is important to bait early in the season (February - March) to reduce colony sizes.  InVict Blitz can be re-applied on a weekly basis. Apply a two foot band around the perimeter of a building which would equate to 4 oz of material / 200 linear feet. All turf and landscaping areas of the property can treated with 4-8 oz per 1000 sq ft., or 10-20 lbs. per acre. The high rate is recommended for the best results. Full applications of Invict Blitz can be reapplied in one week. Applications should also be made around exterior electrical boxes where these ants are known to invade.

It is important to incorporate an application of the liquid non-repellent insecticide Taurus SC. The treatment area is one foot up the structure and one foot away from the structure.

More than two applications of Taurus SC per calendar year can be made only if applied according to one of the following frequency and dilution rate application scenarios. DO NOT exceed the specified number of applications per calendar year.

The use directions include up to four (4) applications per year at the 0.03% dilution rate for outside surfaces and along the foundation perimeter of listed structures.

    0.03% 4 times/calendar year OR

    0.06% 2 times/calendar year OR

    0.03% 2 times/calendar year and 0.06% 1 time/calendar year

Treatments may be made as a low-pressure general surface spray (coarse flat fan), crack and crevice spray or wall void application, where ants enter the structure, trail around the structure, or where they crawl and hide. For exterior perimeter treatments, apply the rate that's listed above of Taurus SC finished dilution to surfaces up to, but not to exceed, 3 ft. up and 10 ft. of sod out from the foundation. Mounds or nests can be treated directly.

Treatments are to be made up to 10 feet around areas where ants are found associated with utility wires (electrical, telephone or cable). Foam treatments can be applied to structural voids where ants may enter, trail or nest.

Up to four treatments are permitted per year per structure, but the second application may be made within 60 days.

    Indoors:

Ants will go inside a structure looking for food, water and shelter. CimeXa Insecticide Dust is a desiccant, non-repellent, no odor insecticide dust that will remain active for 10 years, if it remains undisturbed. Apply CimeXa Insecticide dust at a rate of 2 oz per 1000 sq ft in areas where these ants are likely to be present such as behind baseboards, wall voids behind cabinets, sinks and tubs, cracks & crevices, crawl spaces, around electrical conduits and other areas. When the ant comes in contact with CimeXa they will die.
