    Q
How much Bifen I/T do i put in a gallon of water for outside fire ants?
last year we had a bad heat wave here in texas in which we we're limit to water restrictions here...so killing my grass bringing nickle size ant mounds all over my front yard (only)
    A
According to the Bifen IT product label: Fire Ant control is optimized by combining broadcast applications that will control foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens with mound drenches that will control existing colonies. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application or use a high volume of water for the application. Apply broadcast treatments at 0.5 to 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet. You can dilute the recommended amount of Bifen IT in 1-5 gallons of water. Use enough water to penetrate thatch or sod. Treat mounds by applying 1 oz Bifen IT Professional per mound in 1 to 2 gallons water by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat 3 feet out around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12”. It is recommended that you use a broom handle to poke down through the center of the mound to allow the solution to penetrate. For best results, apply in cool weather (65 - 80˚F) or in early morning or late evening hours

    A
According to the product label, you should use Bifen IT with a surfactant such as DyneAmic to control mites in the lawn. The product label also recommends irrigating the lawn with .25 inch of water after the application for lawn infesting insects.

    Q
Why is Bifen IT so much cheaper than Cy-kick CS? Aren't they both the same thing?
Which one is best for outdoors?
    A
No, they are not the same. Bifen It is a generic form of Talstar P and contains the active ingredient bifenthrin. Bifen IT is great for indoor/outdoor general pest control and is very safe to use around pets and people, non irritating to the skin, will not stain, is odorless, and stands up well to rainfall. Talstar P is the product of choice for mosquito control too.  Cy-Kick CS is a micro encapsulated product that contains Cyfluthrin. Cy Kick-CS is known to be super effective for those hard to kill insects such as spiders and scorpions and it will last a bit longer outdoors.

    Q
What is the best way to dispose of Bifen IT safely?
    A
According to the Bifen IT product MSDS, the concentrated product disposal methods will vary from one region to another. The Bifen IT manufacturer recommends that you contact your local authorities to inquire about proper disposal methods in your community. Once the Bifen IT is diluted and you find you have too much extra diluted solution, you can simply pour out the extra solution right up against the foundation of your home.

    Q
Does Bifen XTS last longer than Bifen IT
Does XTS hold up better to the elements outside than IT?
    A
Typically oil based products such as Bifen XTS will not be able to sustain a longer residual than a water based version such as Bifen I/T, as the UV rays from the sun tend to break down those oils a little faster. In most instances Bifen I/T would be the more appropriate and easier to mix product of the two, and the most versatile with where it can be applied.

    Q
Can Bifen IT and permethrin be mixed together?
    A

We do not recommend mixing together two pyrethroids such as Bifen IT and a permethrin product. These products are too similar, and you could create a repellency issue rather than allowing insects to actually contact the treated areas. If you want to add something to Bifen IT for faster intiial knockdown, then we suggest a pyrethrin and/or PBO product such as ExciteR Insecticide.

    Q
Should I use an IGR with Bifen IT to control roaches?
Should I add an insect growth regulator(IGR) to Bifen IT to keep roaches and other pests out of my home?
    A
We always recommend using an IGR such as Nyguard or Gentrol to help break the roach infestation cycle. We also recommend using a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that harbor in areas where you cannot spray (cabinets, drawers, counters, around sinks).

    Q
How much Bifenthrin 7.9 ( how many ounces/gal) should I use to spray spotted lanternflies in a hose end sprayer and also in a one gallon sprayer?
    A

Spotted Lantern Fly is an invasive pest mostly found in certain areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York right now. Penn State Extension has set up an entire website to help track and control this pest. Please visit this site for information on how to report this pest and non-chemical steps recommended:
    https://www.agriculture.pa.gov/Plants_Land_Water/PlantIndustry/Entomology/spotted_lanternfly/Pages/default.aspx
Here is a guide regarding management of SLF for homeowners:https://extension.psu.edu/spotted-lanternfly-management-for-residents

Some folks are treating trees with dinotefuran, although since these products are not yet labeled for this pest, we cannot be certain as to the efficacy.

    Talstar P

can be used as trunk and foliar spray where you have found activity, and the manufacturer has a Supplemental Label you can review on how to use it for that pest. You would use 0.25-0.5 oz per 1000 sq/ft per gallon.
