    Q
I'm looking for the best spray to use indoors and outdoors.
I want the best all around product that will help me rid myself of all common bugs in and around my house without any residue left on the carpet. Currently, I'm on a quarterly program but just would like to be able to do it myself to my expectations without relying on someone else to do it when they schedule. This product needs to be pet safe also, could you advise me on which one to use? Thanks for your help
    A
We would recommend using Bifen IT. It is a wonderful general pesticide that can be used indoors and outdoors. It dries clear as well. Indoors, you will spray along the baseboards and cracks and crevices. Outdoors, Bifen IT can be broadcast across the lawn, sprayed on trees (non edibles), flowers, shrubs, etc. This product is not labeled to be used on any type of edibles. You will mix 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Bifen IT has a residual of up to 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
How do you kill outdoor ants, common ants and fire ants using Bifen IT?
    A

Bifen IT is an excellent insecticide and is labeled for ants, including fire ants.

The best control will be achieved by using broadcast treatments in combination with mound drenches. This will control present colonies along with foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens. It is critical either to use high volume treatments or to irrigate prior to application if the soil is dry. Apply 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet when using broadcast treatments. For mound drenches, dilute 1 teaspoon of Bifen I/T per gallon
of water and use 1 to 2 gallons of finished dilution using sufficient force to penetrate the top and allow dilution to flood ant channels. Treat a four-foot diameter around each ant mound. Application should be made in late evening or early morning when it is cooler (65-80° when insects are most active. NOTE: A spray rig calibrated to apply 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet of Bifen I/T in 5 gallons per 1,000 square feet contains the equivalent
dilution (1 teaspoon per gallon) required for fire ant mound drenches in the spray tank.
For other ants, we would recommend a perimeter treatment around your home. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Which product recommended to kill mosquito?
I own a still backpack fogger. Right now I'm using vector ban plus to kill the mosquitos at home. It works but it seems like I need to spray every night. We get afternoon showers every day at this time of the year in the south which brings out more mosquitos. I was thinking of ordering Bifen and Demon Max and spraying them in rotation. Any advice on any of these 3 products are another recommendation would help. I want a quick kill and I also would like a residual
    A

Vector Ban Plus does not leave any kind of residual so will only kill the mosquitoes that are out in the open at the time you are applying to product.

You are on the right track with using a residual product like Bifen IT or Demon Max, it is actually our most popular product for mosquitoes.  The key is to apply it to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes as that is where the adults lay during the day. Bifen would be the more recommended as it known to be super gentle on plants but you can rotate them as well.

    blue spruce caterpillars
Caterpillars have been dining on my blue spruce trees. They are now in cocoons. Is it too late to spray in September, or should I wait until next spring? Will Bifen do the trick?
    A
Bifen IT is labeled for caterpillars and can be sprayed on blue spruce trees. It is not too late to spray as Bifen IT can be used all year around in non-extreme temperatures. When you are spraying, make sure to spray the top and underside of the leaves. You will use .25 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
How many applications per year are you permitted at 1 ounce per 1000 sq ft on residential lawns?
    A
Bifen IT is labeled to be sprayed every 30 days outdoors. Spraying more than what is on the label could result in resistancy from the pests. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Q
    Indoor application recommended for Louisiana
I am looking to get rid of my bug man. Along with the added cost, it's really not effective. I have fleas occasionally inside. We do have a cat, but it is sufficiently treated. I always have spiders, alive and dead. All sorts of beetles and other random bugs make it through their "home barrier." Can you recommend an indoor pesticide for me to use or point me the right direction? Any info is greatly appreciated!
    A
Bifen IT is an excellent general insecticide. It is labeled for over 75 different pests, fleas, spiders and beetles included. You will spray this around the baseboards and cracks and crevices in your home. It can also be used outdoors. It can be broadcast across your lawn, on shrubs, trees, flowers, etc. It is not labeled to be used on any type of edibles. The residual is up to 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. We would recommend removing your cat when you are spraying. Once the product is dry, it is safe for children and pets to return to the room.

    Bifen IT stained my floors....
I sprayed Bifen It just under all my kitchen cabinets and now everywhere I sprayed my dark brown linoleum floor has a cloudy white stain. I've tried plain water, detergents, cleaners at diluted and full strength. Any idea how I can get this up? I did dilute the Bifen according to the instructions.
    A
Bifen IT is a non-staining product. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer and speaking to them about the stains on your linoleum. Their phone number is 281-892-2500. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
How can you prevent mosquitoes using Bifen IT
We are living closer to golf/lake areas. More and more mosquitoes have been found around the house and some some come inside the house. Any most effective treatment should be done and how? Does Bifen kill or prevent acorpion too?
    A

Bifen IT is a great product labeled for over 75 types of insects, including scorpions and  especially mosquitoes. Mix 1oz Bifen IT per 1 gallon of water and apply as a perimeter treatment or broadcast treatment over the entire property. When treating for mosquitoes, it is important to focus on the undersides of leaves, bushes, trees, shrubs, decking, eaves, etc as this is where mosquitoes will hide during the day. Pay attention to damp areas and possible consider using BTI Mosquito Dunks in areas where you have standing water.

Bifen IT used inside the home as a crack and crevice treatment will last 90 days and 30 days outside the home as a perimeter or broadcast treatment.

    Q
Will Bifen IT kill bed bugs?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT is labeled for bed bugs. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

We would also recommend using an IGR (insect growth regulator), such as Gentrol. You will use this every two weeks until you do not see any activity for 30 days. This will stop the bed bugs from reproducing. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

    Q
    Can I recharge Bifen IT?
Instead of dumping the surplus mixed Bifen IT somewhere, with whatever toxicicity concerns that entails, can I just keep the mix in the jug and re-dose the old mix a month or two later with a new shot of Bifen?
    A

No, once Bifen IT has been mixed with water it either needs to be used or discarded within 24 hours of mixing with water. Do not let Bifen IT sit in the sprayer for longer than 24 hours as the dilution starts to separate and will clog the lines of your sprayer.

  • Asked by Andrea from Atlanta, Georgia
    09/25/2014
    Q
What is the minimum time that should pass before re-spraying Bifen IT for mosquitoes?
We have sprayed 3 times this summer for mosquitoes and the Bifen IT has not gotten rid of them nearly as well as it did when we used it last summer. We just sprayed 6 days ago and still have quite a lot of mosquitoes. Can we re-spray yet? Also is it possible that the Bifen IT has lost it's potency in one year?
    A
Bifen IT is recommended to use once every 30 days outside for Mosquito control. Depending on the weather conditions(rainfall), this could affect your results. For best results, allow 24 hours after outdoor application before expected rainfall or watering. When applying, focus on the underside of leaves on bushes, shrubs and trees as this where mosquitos will hide during the day. For a quick knockdown mixing a Pyrethrin concentrate with the Bifen IT will give you immediate relief. Mix 1oz ExciteR and 1oz Bifen IT in 1 gallong of water. With this combination, you get the quick knockdown and the residual for 30 days. Mixing Bifen IT at the lower mixing rated of .33floz you can apply higher volumes to ensure application of the proper amount of product to a given area or you can mix Bifen IT at the higher rate of 1oz per gallon of water for a longer residual and a quicker knockdown. If there are areas where there is standing water, using the BTI Mosquito Dunks will help.

    Q
Can Bifen IT kills my pine trees? If I spray it directly on the tree?
I have pine beetles and I was told to spray Bifen IT on my dead tree that has the beetles and on the two surrounding the infected tree in order to make sure they didn't get the beetles as well.
    A
Bifen IT will not kill trees only listed insects. If you have any severely damaged or dead trees, they should be removed to help prevent the beetles from infesting healthy trees in the surrounding area.

    Q
What spray can I use to get rid of brown banded roaches?
We are living in Hawaii and it is now the rainy season. We had Ecolab come spray our home a little over 2 weeks ago, and now we have spotted a roach on our kitchen floor near the sink. I am pregnant and am worried about using pesticides, but I can have my husband do it and we can leave our home for the day. I don't want these things coming inside. We also have an ant problem here, but I am much more comfortable with ants than roaches.
    A
Bifen IT is a very good general insecticide that can be used indoors and outdoors for roach and ant control. You will mix 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. We would recommend spraying when it is not raining and will not be raining for at least 6 hours. We would also recommend using Gentrol IGR (insect growth regulator) to stop the roaches from reproducing. Once the product is dry, it is safe for you to return into the home/room where the products were sprayed. This could take 2-3 hours so you do not have to leave for the day.

    Q
What's the best pesticide for me?
My house is surrounded by woods and I live in a low lying area in sw Florida. I have spiders in and around my house, all sorts of different kinds, small, large, black, brown. Now that it is cooler we now have a very large quantity of ticks. I have a dog and I can't even take her out without 3-6 jumping on her just while she pees every single time. My only other problem is in the summer time it is very wet in my area and we get massive amounts of Mosquitoes. I would love to have a all in one pesticide but I'm willing to buy whatever I need to make my home livable again. I have a sprayer for my house and a large sprayer for my yard. Thank you for ur help
    A
Bifen is one of our number one products for spiders and mosquitoes. You can apply it indoors and out and after it has dried, rain will not wash it away. You want to re apply once every 30 days outdoors and every 2 months indoors.

Indoors, Bifen IT is only labeled to be used as a crack and crevice to baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas. • Asked by Mike from Denham Springs, La

    Q
    Bifen Application For Termite Control
I recently purchased a couple of gallons of generic Bifen from your company to apply for termite control. My question relates to whether I need to apply the product around the perimeter of my entire house. The house is typical "brick and stick construction" built entirely on a concrete slab. The front of the house has 2 raised porches which are on the same concrete slab as the rest of the house. In the area of the porches, the walls are approximately 6' from the outer edge of the slab. Do I need to apply the Bifen on the perimeter of the slab in the area of the porches It's difficult to describe the situation, but maybe I can send a couple of pictures to help illustrate the question. Thanks - Mike
    A

When doing a soil barrier treatment for termites, it is important to treat directly against the structure on all sides of the house as close as possible. Against the foundation of the home,  dig a 6 x 6 trench around the entire perimeter. Where carports and concrete patios are existing, you will drill 18-24 inch holes 2-3 inches off the foundation wall 10-12 inches apart. This will ensure the soil under that concrete slab is protecting the actual house foundation. Please read our on How To Perform A Termite Treatment Article for more detailed instructions and recommendations.

While Bifen IT is labeled for termites and will last up to 5 years in the soil, we would recommend using Termidor SC or Dominion 2L for termite soil barrier treatments. Termidor SC bonds to the soil after 24 hours and will last 10 years and Dominion 2L will last for 7 years.
