    Q
Is Bifen IT safe to use by a lake without harming fish?
    A
Bifen IT is not designed to be used along the perimeter of lakes. It is harmful to aquatic life. You could use EcoVia, which many folks use to treat their docks for spiders and other insects.

    Q
I purchased Bifen & Nyguard for tick control. Can this be applied with a hose end sprayer?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT can be used in a hose end sprayer. You will use 1 fl. oz. of solution and 5.5 ml of Nyguard IGR per gallon of water. You will put the concentrate directly into the cannister, and the tube will automatically use how much you have on the dial. It will disperse with each gallon that comes through the hose. You will need to be as accurate as possible when using this method. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
What is the best pesticide to use for indoors and outdoors?
My pest control person I had used to spray some pesticide that would kill almost everything. I liked it because it would kill roaches from neighbors trying to come over and would find them all around my fence after spraying the perimeter and ants/spiders and you could spray it on plants, shrubs, trees, and around the lawn.
    A
We would recommend using Bifen IT. It is a general insecticide that can be sprayed around the perimeter of your home outdoors, on flowers, trees, shrubs, etc. It is not labeled to be sprayed on any type of edibles. Bifen IT can also be sprayed indoors around the cracks and crevices and baseboards. It lasts for up to 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors.

    Q
How do you kill outdoor ants, common ants and fire ants using Bifen IT?
    A

Bifen IT is an excellent insecticide and is labeled for ants, including fire ants.

The best control will be achieved by using broadcast treatments in combination with mound drenches. This will control present colonies along with foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens. It is critical either to use high volume treatments or to irrigate prior to application if the soil is dry. Apply 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet when using broadcast treatments. For mound drenches, dilute 1 teaspoon of Bifen I/T per gallon
of water and use 1 to 2 gallons of finished dilution using sufficient force to penetrate the top and allow dilution to flood ant channels. Treat a four-foot diameter around each ant mound. Application should be made in late evening or early morning when it is cooler (65-80° when insects are most active. NOTE: A spray rig calibrated to apply 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet of Bifen I/T in 5 gallons per 1,000 square feet contains the equivalent
dilution (1 teaspoon per gallon) required for fire ant mound drenches in the spray tank.
For other ants, we would recommend a perimeter treatment around your home. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Which product recommended to kill mosquito?
I own a still backpack fogger. Right now I'm using vector ban plus to kill the mosquitos at home. It works but it seems like I need to spray every night. We get afternoon showers every day at this time of the year in the south which brings out more mosquitos. I was thinking of ordering Bifen and Demon Max and spraying them in rotation. Any advice on any of these 3 products are another recommendation would help. I want a quick kill and I also would like a residual
    A

Vector Ban Plus does not leave any kind of residual so will only kill the mosquitoes that are out in the open at the time you are applying to product.

You are on the right track with using a residual product like Bifen IT or Demon Max, it is actually our most popular product for mosquitoes.  The key is to apply it to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes as that is where the adults lay during the day. Bifen would be the more recommended as it known to be super gentle on plants but you can rotate them as well.

    Q
    Bifen Application For Termite Control
I recently purchased a couple of gallons of generic Bifen from your company to apply for termite control. My question relates to whether I need to apply the product around the perimeter of my entire house. The house is typical "brick and stick construction" built entirely on a concrete slab. The front of the house has 2 raised porches which are on the same concrete slab as the rest of the house. In the area of the porches, the walls are approximately 6' from the outer edge of the slab. Do I need to apply the Bifen on the perimeter of the slab in the area of the porches It's difficult to describe the situation, but maybe I can send a couple of pictures to help illustrate the question. Thanks - Mike
    A

When doing a soil barrier treatment for termites, it is important to treat directly against the structure on all sides of the house as close as possible. Against the foundation of the home,  dig a 6 x 6 trench around the entire perimeter. Where carports and concrete patios are existing, you will drill 18-24 inch holes 2-3 inches off the foundation wall 10-12 inches apart. This will ensure the soil under that concrete slab is protecting the actual house foundation. Please read our on How To Perform A Termite Treatment Article for more detailed instructions and recommendations.

While Bifen IT is labeled for termites and will last up to 5 years in the soil, we would recommend using Termidor SC or Dominion 2L for termite soil barrier treatments. Termidor SC bonds to the soil after 24 hours and will last 10 years and Dominion 2L will last for 7 years.

Is this formula safe to indoor as well?
    A
Bifen IT needs to be reapplied once every 30 days. It can be applied indoors to cracks and crevices.

    Bifen IT for Springtails
I purchased this product from you at the end of last summer. I own a split level home and I have springtails crawling around on my basement floor and on the wood above the sil plate. Anyway I mixed 2 oz of bifen it to a bit less than 2 gal of water and sprayed. In less than 2 hours I have springtails crawling directly over the area that I sprayed with no ill effects. So? This is actually the 2nd time that I've sprayed. The first time the same thing occured.
    A
Bifen IT is labeled for springtails. Depending on how healthy the springtail is and how long it spends on a surface treated by the Bifen IT, will depend on how long it actually takes for each individual one to die. It could be hours or even a day. Also, if you are not treating the main nest, and only the satellite colony, you are only be temporarily fixing your problem. More will appear as they continue to migrate and you will need to fix the moisture issue in your home that is attracting the springtails as well. Until the moisture is gone or the main nest is found and eliminated, you will have an ongoing battle with the pest.

    Q
Is Bifen IT safe around lake house perimeter?
    A
Bifen IT would be safe depending on how close the house is to the actual lake as it is toxic to aquatic invertabretes so you would not want to happy where drift or runoff could go into the lake. If you are closer to the lake and runoff could be an issue, Essentria IC3 would be a better product. Essentria is safe to use around aquatic life and it will work great for mosquitoes and many other insects.

    Q
In a 15 gal sprayer can I mix Bifen IT with a weed and feed and spray just once to save time and water?
    A
Yes you can mix Talstar with most weed and feeds successfully for the most part. Most weed and feeds will have a small section on doing a test "tank mix" so you can test to make sure the products will blend together without issue. We do recommend doing a test tank mix to be sure the products will mix together without separating.

    Q
Will the Bifen IT kill the redworms in my yard or make the worms poisonous to my birds if the eat the worms?
    A

We are not sure what type of worm would be considered a "red worm" as you have described.  If you are referring to earthworms, Bifen IT is not labeled for earthworms, because they are a beneficial but it may cause harm to them if they contact a treated area.  Though they are pretty protected by the mucus on their bodies. This small amount of product needed to kill tiny insects would not be enough to harm a bird if they were to ingest a worm that would have contacted the product.

    Q
How often do I need to treat my yard with Bifen IT?
If I have an acre of land how much do I need?
    A
Unfortunately you did not mention what pest you are trying to treat in your yard so we can not be very specific. The Bifen IT label does say that you can repeat applications as often as every 7 days outdoors but most customers do not repeat applications more than once a month for most pests. Again the usage rate of Bifen IT will vary greatly depending on what type of pest your are trying to control. The Bifen IT product label recommends 0.25-1.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft for most pests outdoors. You can find the usage rate tables starting on page 12 of the product label.

    Q
Is Bifen IT recommended for springtails? If not, which product is best for this pest?
Spring tails mostly appear around baseboards. Home is on a slab. Would Delta dust be more effective?
    A
Spring tails can be tough to eliminate because they reproduce very quickly. In almost every case where people have spring tails they also have a moisture problem such as a leaking or sweating pipe, poor ventilation in their crawl space, lots of wet mulch right up next to their house, etc. You must locate and correct the moisture problem to get rid of the spring tails, insecticides alone will not do the job. We do carry Bifen L/P granules and Bifen IT liquid, both of which can help you to reduce the numbers of springtails.
