Bifen IT can be toxic to aquatic life, so it should not be used indoors in or near aquariums or reptile habitats. Bifen IT is safe to use outdoors as directed on the product label and indoors as a crack and crevice treatment. For other pets such as dogs and cats, it is safe if animals are kept out of the treatment area until the application is dry. If you are using Bifen IT to treat an active flea infestation, you will need to re-treat 14 days after your initial application. It is strongly recommended to also use an insect growth regulator (IGR) such as Archer IGR in addition to the Bifen IT in order to stop the fleas from reproducing. Unfortunately the state of Connecticut has limited most of the products out there on the market these days that can be shipped into the state without having a license to purchase them. Pest Xpert Home Barrier? would be one option of a comparable insecticide spray to Bifen IT that could be used in CT. An all natural option that works similarly is Essentria IC3 and can cover a wide range of pests and usage areas like the Bifen IT as well.

Bifen IT is not designed to be used along the perimeter of lakes since it is harmful to aquatic life. We recommend keeping Bifen IT treatments at least 25 feet from bodies of water to avoid runoff into the lake. You could use EcoVia instead which many folks use to treat their docks for mosquitoes and other insects.
Typically mosquitoes are not going to harbor in the lawn where the Bayer granules were placed. They are usually found in bushes and dense foliage areas. You can safely spray all bushes/hedges/ground covers and any areas you feel mosquitoes may be present on a monthly basis with Bifen I/T.
