    Q
Can I use Bifen Granules if I have a dug well?
My drinking water comes from a dug well and I would like to know if it is safe to use the Bifen Granules
    A
The product label for Bifen Granules does not say anything about use near a well, but we would suggest not applying granules within 20 feet of the well just to be safe.  Also, if your land slopes towards the well you should not apply granules on the slope in case a hard rain causes the granules to move with the water towards the well.

    Q
Will Bifen Granules get rid of millipedes?
    A
Yes, Bifen Granules are labeled for millipedes as well as many other insects that are in your yard.  For millipedes you can spread 2.3 - 4.6 lbs per 1000 square feet.  For full instructions and a list of all the insects that the granules treat, you can read the product label.

    Q
Can Bifen L/P granules be used to control mosquitoes and mosquito larvae?
    A

No, Bifen LP would not be effective for mosquito control. The adult mosquitoes actually hang out in trees and bushes and the larva develop in standing water. Bifen LP granules can only be used to treat lawns and soil for insect infestation. You can use Bifen IT which is the liquid formulation of Bifen to treat for adult mosquitoes. Mosquito larva can be eliminated with BTI Mosquito Dunks which can be placed directly into water sources such as ponds, unused pools and other areas of standing water.

    Q
Can I put Bifen Granules down with a fertilizer?
If not, how long before or after a fertilizer application can I apply?
    A

Yes, Bifen Granules can be applied at the same time as fertilizers. You want to be sure the spreader settings for the fertilizer and the Bifen Granules are the same to ensure proper application.

    Q
Can I use Bifen Granules and Bifen IT together?
I just bought the Bifen Granules and the Bifen IT spray. Can I apply these at the same time? I want to use the spray on the house siding and the foundation and use the granules in the lawn. Thank you.
    A
The Bifen IT and the Bifen Granules can absolutely be used at the same time as they are generally not applied in the same area.  You can spray around the foundation of the home, 2-3 feet up and out and then apply the granules further out than that and across the yard.

    Q
Are Bifen granules harmful to free range chickens or their meat, eggs they lay?
    A

Bifen Granules are not labeled for use in poultry areas, so we would not suggest it for this use. Regarding other animals, you would need to keep animals out of the treatment area until the granules have been watered in and the application is dry. You could, however, use Bifen IT liquid inseticide, which is labeled for use in poultry houses. You should keep any animals out of the treatment area until the application is dry.

    Q
What to do if I put down too much Bifen Granules? Are the granules safe for my kids and pets?
I accidentally put down about double the maximum recommended amount of Bifen Granules- 14 pounds for 2000 sqft.
    A

Bifen granules will not kill your lawn, however, we do not recommend applying more than the product label states. This can be hazardous to your health, and could potentially adversely effect the eradication of the targeted insect. Bifen Granules are safe for use on yards where children and pets will walk as long as you follow the product label. Be sure that both children and pets are out of the area during the application and until the treated area is dry. When applied as directed, there is only enough active ingredient to harm small insects. We would ecommend that you contact Control Solutions, the manufacturer, at 281-892-2500 and your veterinarian for further assistance.

    Q
Will DeltaGard G Granules kill Harvest Mite Larvae (chiggers) in my yard?
What is the appropriate schedule to apply the treatment to kill chiggers? Also I have a raised ornamental fish pond which is on a patio about 6 feet away from the lawn. Would Bifen Granules be safe for my fish if the granules do not come in contact with the water?
    A
Bifen granules are not labeled to treat chiggers. The only granule we carry that has chiggers on the label is DeltaGard G Granules.  DeltaGard G Granules come in a 20 lb bag and treatment for chiggers requires 2-3lbs per 1000 square feet.  However, any type of insecticide, liquid or granule, is very toxic to fish.  We would not recommend applying any type of product near a fish pond.  Even run off from the surface where you apply a product can be extremely deadly to fish.

    Q
Hi! Will the Bifen granules affect Monarch or Swallowtail caterpillars or butterflies?
I grow milkweed for Monarchs and have parsley for the Swallowtails.
    A
Bifen Granules should not affect the butterflies as long as they do not land on the soil/areas treated with it.  Though it is a non-selective insecticide which means that any insect that is contacted with the insecticide will be killed. You can help limit this effect by only applying the product when bees and butterflies are not currently visiting the area that needs to be treated.

    Q
Can I broadcast Bifen Granules in a garden to control fire ants without affecting the produce?
Fire ants destroyed our potato crop last year, and I'm looking for products to keep ants out of the garden.
    A
You cannot use Bifen granules in a vegetable garden. You can place Bifen granules around the outside of the garden to ward off crawling insects. You can also use Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait around the outside of the vegetable garden to help control the fire ants.

    Q
After watering in Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules on turf, how long should I wait before resuming normal watering?
For how long after the initial application will normal watering, or a rain storm, reduce the effectiveness of the Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules in my lawn?
    A

Once you have watered in the Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules and the treated areas have had to time to dry completely, rainfall and regular watering should not reduce the effectiveness of the product.  In situations with frequent rainfall or frequent watering, you can reapply the product after 2 months.

    Q
Will Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules kill springtails?
    A

Bifen Granules recently had a product label change and the new label no longer lists springtails as a target pest. We recommend Demand G Granules to control springtails and they can be used as a perimeter application or over your entire lawn. Children can safely return to the treated area after it is completely dry.  Please refer to our How To Get Rid Of Springtails article to see proper treatment methods for the pest and where to look for sources of the nesting site.

    Q
Would Bifen Granules treat ground pearls?
i have a house on the carolina coast and have pearl grubs in my lawn. any treatment for that?
    A

Yes, Bifen Granules will treat ground pearls. You would use at a rate of 2 lbs for every 1000 sq/ft, and retreat once a month for 3 months. Before you treat, please be aware that it is important to know that one of the more common traits with ground pearls is they seem to like soil with low PH levels. We would recommend that you have your soil tested to see what the PH levels are, and get that corrected first and then treat with the Bifen Granules

    Q
What setting should I use for the Earthway 2750 hand spreader to apply Bifen Granules?
    A

We don't have the exact spreader setting to apply Bifen Granules with your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for your needs is outlined below:

Ex: If you need to use 3 lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high

    Q
Is granular Bifen safe to use around Pecan Trees?
I have two Pecan trees in my back yard. I would like to use the granular Bifen to take care of some insects. I do plan on eating the pecans in the fall. Will the tree uptake enough Bifen to be harmful and if so what would be your recommendation.
    A

Bifen Granules is not a systemic so will not be absorbed but is also not labeled to be used around edibles. Applications should be kept outside the dripline of the Pecan trees.

    Q
Can I use Bifen L/P Granules on the the perimeter gravel around my house?
I'm an overkill kind of guy. I use Cy-kick as a perimeter defense, but was wondering if I can use this in the rest of my gravel yard (2 inch depth of gravel on top of Arizona dirt) to further discourage crawling things? If so, do I just leave it on or water it in? Knowing what I want to accomplish, is there a better solution?
    A

Yes, you can absolutely use the Bifen LP Granules on your rock landscaping for further control. Water it in with roughly 1/2 rainfall equivalent and it will slowly break down over about 2 months or so to give continuous insect control. Many customers do the same thing you are with spraying around the foundation as it gives you the ability to get vertical surface treatment and any bushes that may be around as well as long term protection further out with the granules.
