    Q
Do Bifen Granules or another product have a higher percentage of Bifenthrin, like maybe 50%?
    A

The only product that we carry that has more of the active ingredient bifenthrin in it is Bifen XTS. It is an oil based insecticide that should be used outdoors only for general pest control. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Do the Bifen Granules work on springtails hiding in small red rocks I have next to my home?
Does this work on top of red rocks I have next to my home? I spread 2 bags of this over a week ago all over small red rocks around my home and grass and absolutely no results on springtails they continue to appear later on in the day everywhere in crazy numbers.
    A

Bifen Granules recently had a product label change and the new label no longer lists springtails as a target pest. We recommend Demand G Granules to control springtails and they can be used as a perimeter application or over your entire lawn. Children can safely return to the treated area after it is completely dry.

    Q
What are the precautions for using Bifen Granules when you have a well?
I don't see this information on the label.
    A

The product label for Bifen Granules does not list any precautions for use on property with a well, but we would suggest not applying within 20 feet of the well just to be safe.  Also, if your land slopes towards the well you should not apply granules on the slope in case a hard rain causes the granules to move with the runoff towards the well.

    Q
Will Bifen Granules control and kill flying beetles?
    A

Bifen Granules are not used for flying insects including flying beetles. Most flying insects may not touch areas treated. We would recommend the liquid, Bifen IT. It is mixed at 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions. This will offer some control if applied to the trees, bushes and grass.

    Q
When would one use Bifen Granules?
We live on a feedlot and have a dairy across the road.
    A

Bifen Granules are applied for listed pests on the product label once every 2-4 months. You will broadcast and then water in the granules. They are pet safe when dry but they are not for grazing pastures/around grazing animals.  Please let us know more about your treatment areas and targeted pests for additional/alternate recommendations.

  • Asked by Donnie
    03/14/2019
    Q
What does it mean by residential lawn use on the Bifen L/P Granules?
I want to apply the max of 0.4 lbs AI/A to my residential lawn. However, I read that for residential lawn applications, use a maximum of 0.2 lbs of active ingredient per acre per application. Does this mean I am limited to 2.3 lbs per 1,000 feet or can I apply the maximum or 4.6 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft.?
    A

Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules can be applied up to 0.4lbs AI/A in commercial areas, but only 0.2lbs AI/A in residential areas.  You would need to use the rate of 2.3lbs per 1000 sq ft for your residential lawn.

    Q
I use Bifen IT granules & also spray CyKick CS to control springtails.
To treat springtails, before rainfall I use Bifen IT granules and during non rain I spray CyKick CS. Will this combination of chemicals counteract each other? Or will they both work well together to keep killing springtails?
    A
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules and Cy-Kick CS can both be used for springtail control. It is recommended to use the granule product as a broadcast application in your lawn and the liquid insecticide under cabinets, inside crawl spaces and wall voids. Please also take a look at our Springtail Treatment Guide for more helpful information on how to treat for the pests.

    Q
I have a half acre how many bags will I need
    A
    Good Morning,

One 25lb bag of Bifen LP Granules will cover 5,000 - 10,000 sq. ft.  So at the lowest rate you would use 3 bags and at the highest rate you will use 5 bags, it really depends on what you are treating for.

  • Asked by Greg

    Q
    I need cutter ant control
    A

Leaf Cutter ants are one of the hardest ant species to control. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites, Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times.  DeltaGard granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.

    Q
Will Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules help to prevent cicadas from emerging out of the ground?
    A

Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules is not specifically labeled to target cicadas before they emerge, but may help to reduce the population if applied before they burrow. Keep in mind that cicadas really are beneficial insects and only emerge during a short period of the summer. Most broods do not emerge every year.

  • Asked by Adam from Panama City, Florida
    04/26/2021
    Q
What is the recommended spreader setting for Earthway 65lb broadcast spreader with Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules?
I'm looking for recommendation for spreader setting to control ants for an earth way 65lb broadcast spreader.
    A

Due to how many thousands of different spreader types and granulated products there are on the market, there are no master lists that allow us to know the spreader settings for each individual spreader and product used. The best thing to do to make sure you get the results you need from the product is to place the amount for 1000 sq/ft into your spreader and choose a setting somewhere in the middle or a notch or two below that. Walk a 1000 sq/ft area and note how much is being dispersed as you go. If you find the product is being put out too quickly and you feel you will run out before you cover the whole area, you can move the setting to a smaller option. If the opposite is happening and you find you have lots of product still in your spreader after you've covered 1000 sq/ft, you can move the setting up to release more product at a time. We also have a handy video showing how to calibrate your spreader for the product you use that you can see here.

    Q
Is Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules labeled for roaches and stink bugs?
    A

Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are not labeled for control of roaches or stink bugs. Roaches are difficult to kill with lawn granules because they are larger insects and often travel on the top of treated areas where they would not contact a product that has been watered into the ground. For stink bugs, we recommend using a residual insecticide spray such as Bifen IT applied to the structure in late summer and fall to prevent this overwintering pest from entering your home.

We have detailed Treatment and Prevention Guides for both of these insects:
    Roach Prevention Guide
    Stink Bug Prevention Guide
