Liz from St Augustine, Florida writes

Blindside caused St Augustine die back?

I mixed at .32oz/gallon and it caused my st augustine grass severe damage. I used fan tip and made sure I did not apply > .32oz per 1000. I did use a sticker. To the point a lawncare company thought I had brown patch. Funny in a way. What could be the cause? I'm running another test patch which I mixed at .15oz/1.5 gallon

Answer:

Blindside Herbicide when used across St Augustine grass should be used between 0.15 and 0.23 oz per 1000 sq/ft. If you used it at 0.32 oz this would have been too high of a rate for that grass type to tolerate. What blend of St Augustine grass do you have in the lawn? Certain cultivars are more sensitive to herbicide applications such as Floratam and Bitterblue. The Blindside Product Label also states that if its used with a surfactant then discoloration should be expected as it increases the chances of damage to the lawn and is not really required with this product to work effectively.
