    Q
We just cut down a very large tree. Want to make sure the roots die. What product should be used?
    A

The Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer will kill the stump and the roots. You want to cut any suckers sprouts off, and make hatchet marks deep enought to hit the cambium cell layer of the tree. This layer is the growing part of the tree, and it will absorb the chemical to kill down to the roots.

  • Asked by Meg from Olympia, Wa
    02/19/2022
    Q
Will Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer kill Crocosmia (Coppertips) without harming surrounding trees, rhododendron and lavender?
We have invasive Crocosmia (corm variety but don't know species). Been removing by hand, but keeps coming back. It tends to grow along tree roots, stealing their water, so not sure if applying this will further harm the trees or nearby lavender and rhodies.
    A

Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer would also kill the trees this invasive plant is affecting. Your best treatment method is going to be applying a Glyphosate (Roundup) directly to the fresh cut plant. You can use a small paint brush if needed to ensure you apply only to the plant without risking injury to nearby desirable trees, lavender and rhododendrons.

If my small stump is not treated for 12 months, will the treatment still work
    A
Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer is labeled for effective stump control by applying the undiluted solution to completely cover the freshly cut surface of the stump.  You would just need to cut the top surface of your 12 month old stump to create a new freshly cut surface, in order for the application to be effective at this point.

  • Asked by Chari from Fishers, In
    06/29/2022
    Q
I'm going to apply Stump Out to cattails. We have a well - will this be harmful to the water?
    A
If Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer is applied directly to the plant per the product label instructions, it should not contaminate your well water. It is absorbed and metabolized through the plant so unless its used off label to ground area near the well or was mistakenly poured in the well, it is not harmful.  Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer  is not labeled for cattails.  Diquat Water Weed and Landscape Herbicide would be a better option as it is an aquatic herbicide labeled for cattails.
