    Q
Why isn't Bora-Care available in smaller quantities?
I only need to treat one small piece of antique wood.
    A

We apologize Bora-Care is not sold in smaller sizes. If you are looking for something smaller, we would suggest looking into Jecta. It is typically used to reach places where Bora-Care cannot be applied effectively and may be a better fit.

    Q
How much BoraCare is needed for stilt home under new construction with 1st level blow out walls measuring 50 x 50, 2 x 4. Nothing on outside yet.
    A

Each one gallon of Bora-Care will treat 800 square feet of a 2 x 4 stud wall therefore to treat 2500 sq ft (50 ft x 50 ft) you would need a little over 3 gallons of BoraCare.

I was told locally that Bora-Care is for moisture control, is this correct?
I can't find any postings saying it was use to remedy excess moisture when coupled with vapor barrier. I don't have termites.

    Q
How long do I wait to paint a covered RV parking area?
I treated an outdoor RV parking area with a 1-1 mix of Bora-Care for beetles on 9/30/2022. Does it require paining after treatment? I read it needs 3 days to paint over. Running out of good weather. It is a dry area, and never gets wet just air moisture. Can I wait till next year? Like June 2023? 9 months?
    A

If the covered parking area is constructed of wood, it needs to be painted or sealed within 6 weeks after a treatment of Bora-Care. Per the product label, it is important to allow the treated wood to completely dry at least 48 hours before applying any protective topcoat.

    Q
My oak tree was hit by lightning spring 2022 and has boring insects. Can Bora-Care be used to on the oak tree to treat for boring insects?
    A

Bora-Care is not applied to live trees. You may want to check with your local extension office. Once a tree is already infested, the goal turns to protecting the surrounding trees for most borers.

    Q
Can Bora-Care be used on an untreated beam where we are seeing several small holes before we stain and seal the beam? We will be using this for a fireplace mantel.
    A

Bora-Care can be used on untreated beams prior to staining, sealing or painting for both active and preventative treatments for wood destroying insects. For curative treatments, apply at a 1:1 ratio, for preventative treatments apply at a 5:1 ratio. Wait for the application to completely dry before painting, staining or sealing which is usually 48 hours.

When painting Boracare on subfloor, how long should I wait before relaying laminate overtop. Is 72 hours long enough?
    A

The Bora-Care application needs to be completely dry before relaying the laminate. This does usually take about 48-72 hours, however, you do want to check to be sure that the product is completely dry.

    Q
Does Bora-Care kill adult powder post beetles? Is it safe to use in a house with pets?
We have powder post beetles in our basement, infesting the support beams. If I spray them, will it kill all the powderpost beetles and kill the hatching larvae in the future? We also have pets and want to know if we need to have them out of the house while we spray.
    A

Bora-Care will kill any & all powder post beetles that feed on the wood. It will not kill the larvae right when they hatch, but once they start feeding on the wood it will kill them as well. The product is safe for pets as long as used as directed. Just them keep them out of the area (not the whole house) while applying & they may return once it has dried, typically a few hours.

    Q
Can BoraCare be used to treat foundation holes and pouring the mixed solution into the holes around the foundation?
I have a termite problem with a dead tree close to my house, started see termites in walls.
    A

Bora-Care can only be used on raw, untreated, unpainted wood for curative and preventative treatments against termites and other wood destroying insects. It has no efficacy or ability to treat termites in the soil.

If termite activity has been seen in the home, you will want to treat by doing Termite Trench Treatment directly against the foundation of the home using Taurus SC. Taurus SC can eradicate an exisiting termite colony within 90 days and provide a 10 year barrier protection against future termites when done correctly.

Please view our How to Treat for Termite Guide for more information.
