Paula from Myrtle Beach, Sc writes

Can Barricade kill spurge once it's gone to seed on grass that is not yet fully established?

My young centipede grass is about 4 inches high, but spurge is taking over and killing the grass. I live in Coastal SC. If this product will not be effective for my situation, what can you recommend?

Answer:

Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine)  is only a pre-emergent, used to prevent weeds from emerging. It will not kill anything that is actively growing. You will wait until the new lawn is established (mowed at least twice) before you apply Prodiamine. Blindside Herbicide WDG is a post-emergent that is safe to apply to established centipede grass to get rid of spurge.
