Can Florel be used to prevent fruiting of Ficus trees?

If so what rate should I use. I have a customer that has several ficus trees over a Koi pond. When the trees fruit, they drop into the pond and the fish eat tehm and several have died.

Answer:

Monterey Florel Growth Regulator could potentially be used on flowering ficus, however this product should not be applied in any way that would allow for overspray or runoff into a pond with aquatic life. When using Florel over grassy or other non-aquatic areas, you need to apply at bloom - before fruit set - wetting the blooms but not spraying to the point of runoff. You would use 3 oz per gallon of water. If the trees are a constant problem over the pond, then the long-term solution may be removing or transplanting the trees to a different location.
