Kristen from Keller, Tx writes

Can ProSedge Herbicide be applied when the lawn is dormant during the winter in Fort Worth, Texas? We are still having to mow the nutsedge in the lawn.

Answer:

The ProSedge product label does not advise on any freezing temperature restrictions, only heat. Nutsedge thrives during the hot humid months and will typically stop growing when the temperatures cool off. ProSedge is best applied to nutsedge after it has reached the 3 to 8 leaf stage of growth so the longer the weed, the better the ProSedge will be absorbed. We recommend contacting your county extension office for advise on if the soil temperatures, weather and ground conditions would be favorable for you to apply. You can find your county extension office here
