I live in drought stricken Northern California and have already lost one large oak and I worry about the others that I have on my property.
Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide is not labeled to control bark beetles, instead you can use Permethrin SFR 36.8% as a foliar spray to help prevent the infestation of trees and woody ornamentals. Infested trees would need to be pruned and dispose of bark beetle-infested limbs. If the main trunk is extensively attacked by bark beetles, the entire tree or shrub should be removed. Please review the following article by the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources for more information.
