Can I use Merit Granules for existing grubs that made it through the winter?

I had grub infestation that came in late in the year and I didn't get to it in time to really do much with it last year. I plan to use Merit this year, and possibly annually from here on, but should I start with something else this year, to take care of the more mature grubs that made through the winter?

Answer:

Since Merit Insecticide Granules is a systemic insecticide, you want to apply it several weeks before egg hatch of the target pest. Usually this application needs to be made in late Spring, usually sometime between May and late June. We recommend contacting your local Cooperative Extension for the best recommendation on application timing for your target pest in your area.  Under normal circumstances, Merit will provide residual white grub control for four months or longer in turf.
