Ben from Portsmouth Virginia writes

Can I use Permethrin SFR 36.8% on collards to control imported cabbage loopers?

I plant collards first week of Sept. and never harvest the first batch until Nov. ( Thanksgiving ) but I have a steady run of imported cabbage looper butterflies from planting until the first week or so of November here in S.E. Virginia. I have been using Sevin and Bt. but their caterpillars still eat my collard plants up. I need help !

Answer:

No, Permethrin SFR 36.8% cannot be used on any type of edibles. You may try using a product such as Fertilome Triple Action instead. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions before use.
