How close to my weeping cedar can I use Casoron?
    A

Casoron 4G Herbicide should not be applied near trees that are less than 6 months and it should not be applied where granules can stick to foliage or accumulate at the soil line around the base of the tree per the product label

    Q
Is Casoron 4G Herbicide safe for a dog to immediately walk in the area after application? Is it allowed to be used river front?
    A

We would advise waiting till Casoron 4G Herbicide has completely dried before letting pets back in the area typically after 4-6 hours. The product is also not labeled to be used around lake, ponds, or rivers. We would recommend staying 25 ft away from any bodies of water and do not water in to the point of runoff.

    Q
Reno Nv temps ranging 55 day 30 nigth, no rain forecast. Is it ok to apply Casoron 4G Herbicide? Concerned will be of no effect if too late
Used Casoron successfully past 5 years but don't want to waste if too early without rain; or be too late
    A

We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region.  Typically pre-emergents such as Casoron 4G Herbicide need to be down before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees

  • Asked by J. from Portland, Oregon

    Q
What are the application rates for Casoron in a hand held spreader (Scotts)?
    A

The rate at which you apply Casoron 4G will be dependent on the weeds you are targeting and in what type of areas and around what type of plants you will be treating. You will need to look over the Casoron Product Label to find the rates specific to your needs which can range between 100-200 lbs of Casoron per acre.

  • Asked by Janie from Port Ludlow, Wa
    09/26/2014
    Q
We have a large yard. Is there a weed control product (Caseron) that lasts a year?
If so, which month is best to apply? The Caseron does not last an entire year. I know you need to put it down before the weeds begin to grow again, but I'm hoping we don't have to apply it twice a year. It sure helps prevent weeds growing; which saves on Roundup usage. Thank you for answering the question and any advice you might have.
    A
Unfortunately there is not a weed control like Casoron that will provide you year long prevention from weeds growing, the only products that provide year long control are bareground herbicides such as Pramitol. Casoron is labeled to give season long control, but you will need to reapply because it does not have and post emergent qualities. Dimension 2EW gives pre and post emergent control for labeled weeds.

    Q
What number to I use on my Scotts Pro 3000 drop spreader to spread the Casoron over a gravel driveway?
    A

We apologize but are not familiar with that spreader as we do not carry it so do not know the settings to use.  The rate at which you apply Casoron 4G will be dependent on the weeds you are targeting. You will need to look over the Casoron Product Label to find the rates specific to your needs which can range between 100-250 lbs of Casoron per acre.

  • Asked by Crystal from Longview,wa

    Q
Would Casoron be good to use under raised flower beds?
Can I apply Casoron on the ground underneath all the dirt and soil when making my raised beds? My thought was to eliminate weeds from coming up through. Also does it work on morning glory and blackberry bushes?
    A

We would not recommend Casoron 4G for raised beds or flower/ornamental areas as many species have not been tested over and it could cause damage to the plants. A better option would be Snapshot for a granule to put down in beds as long as they are not vegetables. Snapshot TG is ideal for ornamental and flower bed areas to prevent a wide range of grassy and broadleaf weeds from emerging. Normally you will want an application of this to the top of the soil though  as if you only treat deep in the ground you will not have a barrier on the surface where your first weeds would start to grow and appear. Since a pre emergent is designed to create a wall like barrier in the soil, it needs to be applied after all soil and plants have been put into place as disturbing the soil after application will remove the barrier.

  • Asked by Keith from Redmond, Oregon
    10/24/2017
    Q
Is Casoron 4G Herbicide appropriate for early winter application in areas planted with bulbs?
    A

Casoron 4G Herbicide is not labeled to be used around bulb plantings, so we would not recommend this application. Gallery 75 DF can be used around ornamental bulb plantings 2-4 weeks after planting but prior to emergence of annual weeds. Per the product label: Gallery also may be applied following bulb emergence but prior to flowering and after flowering. For fall planted bulbs, apply Gallery 75 DF in late winter or early spring to weed-free soil surfaces. For bulbs, make a single applcation wtithin 30 days following planting and prior to bulb emergence.
