Since Casoron 4G Herbicide is not labeled to be used around palms, we would not recommend this application. Please let us know what weeds you are targeting so that we can make an alternative product recommendation for you.
Casoron 4G Herbicide can be used for control of nutsedge in non-crop areas only. Per the label, apply recommended rates and incorporate immediately to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Please see the Label for complete application instructions.
Casoron 4G is not labeled for Mediterranean sage at all. We are not aware of any pre-emergents that are labeled for use on sage to prevent it from coming up or coming back. Most applications are done with a post-emergent herbicide that is used throughout the growing season to control it as it comes up. A product like Gordons Pasture Pro is labeled to control Mediterranean sage and can be used at up to 2 oz per gallon of water. Gly Pho-Sel Pro Dry 75 also lists sage in general on the label and can be used per the label at up to 7 oz per gallon. Gly Pho Sel is one of the highest percentage glyphosate (Roundup-type) products on the market but it is a non-selective herbicide so you will want to be careful with application if desirable vegetation is nearby.
Casoron 4G Herbicide should not be applied near trees that are less than 6 months and it should not be applied where granules can stick to foliage or accumulate at the soil line around the base of the tree per the product label.
We would advise waiting till Casoron 4G Herbicide has completely dried before letting pets back in the area typically after 4-6 hours. The product is also not labeled to be used around lake, ponds, or rivers. We would recommend staying 25 ft away from any bodies of water and do not water in to the point of runoff.
Casaron 4G Herbicide shouldn't kill established grass. However, we would recommend you using it in a small test area first just to be sure before using it as an entire broadcast over your enitire lawn. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region. Typically pre-emergents such as Casoron 4G Herbicide need to be down before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees
