    Q
Can Cutrine Plus be used in 500 gal ponds without harm to fish and plants? If so how much to use.
Water is clear but algae grows on bottom gravel and rock. Green water tint about every 3 days so I'm doing about a 50% water change weekly. Fish and plants are present. Water fall and 4 aquascape aerators in pond. 500 + gallon pond. Can Cutrine Plus be used in my pond?
    A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide can be used in ponds and lakes to help control different types of algae, except if you have trout, koi fish and hybrid goldfish, Cutrine Plus Algaecide is toxic to these types of fish. We recommend to treat 1/2 of your pond first and wait 14 days to treat the other 1/2 of the pond to avoid fish suffocation caused by oxygen depletion from decaying algae.

  • Asked by Terry from Ventura, California

    Q
Is Cutrine Plus Algaecide the right product for a small concrete fountain?
I have a concrete fountain approximately 15 - 20 gal. It gets mid-day sun only. no fish, and very hard water. good aeration from water falling and algae grows VERY fast. I have ferns around the fountain.
    A

Cutrine Plus is intended for large bodies of water and cannot be used in fountains.  At this moment we don't carry anything labeled to treat algae in a small fountain. You may need to check your local stores to see what they have that may help.

We were able to find a couple articles that may be offer other tips to care for your fountain:

  • Asked by Adam from Columbus Ohio

    Q
Can Cutrine Plus Algaecide be used in a stainless steel pool/water feature?
I have stainless steel little above ground pool water feature. It's got a little pump and filter and is freshwater. Does this work with issues against the stainless steel?
    A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide is designed for use in large bodies of water such as ponds, lakes, and reservoirs and not in small containerized water.

GreenClean Pro Algaecide would be a better option as this is labeled for ponds, lake areas, garden fountains, ornamental waterfalls, ground surface water, etc.

Please view the full product label for more information.

  • Asked by Bob

    Q
How much Cutrine Plus Algaecide is needed for 8000 gallon pond?
    A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide is intended for larger bodies of water and applied at a rate of 0.6 - 1.2 gallons per acre foot of water treated. SeClear Algaecide would be an option for smaller residential or backyard ponds.

The exact number of gallons of product you use will depend on how large of a surface area you're treating.  To calculate the size of a pond based on gallons, you need to know the length, width, and depth, then use a volume calculation (length x width x depth).

Please refer Cutrine Plus Algaecide product label and SeClear Algaecide product label to determine which product would better suit your needs.

    Q
Are follow up treatments needed with Cutrine Plus Algaecide when treating blue green algae?
Treated the blue Green algae last week which the Cutrine Plus Algaecide killed however it's growing back?
    A

Yes, repeat applications at 14 day intervals may be required Cutrine Plus Algaecide.

The product label states, “Re-treat areas if re-growth or new growth begins to appear and seasonal control is desired. Identify new growth to re-check required copper concentration that may be needed for control. Apply treatment along the shore and proceed outwards in bands to allow fish to move into untreated areas.”

View the Other Treatment Factors and Considerations on pages 6-7 for more information.
