There are no toxic products labeled for geckos, lizards or any reptiles or amphibians, and given the highly beneficial nature of these creatures there is not likely to be any products for them any time soon. The reason they are on your property are because they can find food and proper habitat. Take away their food and they will forage somewhere else. Take away the conditions they need for hiding and they will seek refuge someplace else.
You really have two options here:
1.Exclusion. Total exclusion can be hard to achieve particularly around the roof-line where there are going to be gaps that would be very hard to close off, but there also could be some obvious flaws such as broken vent screens, holes around cables, pipes or wires, or gaps under doors. All of these can easily be closed with brush strips, caulking, copper mesh (Stuf-Fit), or some other suitable material. Exclusion is the best choice, because it is permanent, and eliminates or reduces the problem in the future too.
2.Outdoor habitat modification. In short, get rid of the reasons geckos are there in the first place. They are there because they are finding the food they need to survive (insects) and a place to harbor. If you can eliminate either of these essentials, you can get rid of the geckos. Spray a good residual insecticide such as Cyper WP around the outside of your home to help cut down on the number of insects the geckos are eating. If geckos cannot find enough food they will either move on or starve. Eliminate as much clutter and debris around the outside of your home as possible to eliminate the places geckos like to hide. Rake back mulch or rocks at least 6 inches from the structure.
If you need to get rid of the geckos that are already indoors the only options are catching them by hand or using glue boards placed in areas where the geckos travel.
We recommend looking at one of our Carpenter Bee Kits for a complete treatment program for Carpenter Bees. Most insecticides used outdoors will only have around a 30 day residual. Please read the information below for guidelines on how to do treat thoroughly for this pest.
Carpenter bees nest in wood; they do not eat it like termites. Before treating, make sure you have located all entry points of the bees, which look like perfectly round ½ inch holes. We sell all the products mentioned below, and all are included in our carpenter bee kits.
Yes, Cyper WP is labeled to kill fleas and it's safe to use inside and outside. It can only be used on baseboards, cracks and crevices inside your home. The 1 lb jar has been discontinued though but we do have Cyper WSP or Demon WP available, these products are also safe on pets.
I would, however, recommend our Outdoor/Indoor Flea kit. You can use both, Onslaught insecticide and Martins IGR, in broadcast applications inside and out. Meaning you can use it on your carpet as well for a more thorough treatment. Both products are also safe for everyone as long as you follow the label instructions and let the area being treated completely dry before letting everyone come back into that area, including your pets.
Cyper WP should NOT be applied to any areas where animals will be grazing. You may want to contact your local cooperative extension for a recommendation that will be safe.
Cyper WP does come with a scooper and you do use one or two level scoops per gallon. Most of the common pests require 1 scoop per gallon of water. If you are treating carpenter ants, carpenter bees, cockroaches, fire ants, scorpions, spiders, ticks or wasps, then you need to use 2.
Cyper WP in the 1 lb jar has been discontinued by the manufacturer due to recent EPA regulations. It is available in an envelope that contains 4 wtaer soluble packets and called Cyper WSP. The packets are equal to the scoop in the 1 lb jar that was previously available. The product is labeled for flies. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions.
Cyper WP is not labeled for bedbugs. Please take a few moments to read over our article How to Get Rid of Bedbugs to learn how to implement a successful bedbug control program:
Cyper WP is rainproof after it has been allowed to dry for at least 24 hours. You can reapply Cyper WP after 1 month for best results.
We recommend to reapply Cyper WP indoors once a month.
Cyper WP is not labeled for use on cabbage or any edible vegetation. We do carry a full line of products that are labeled for use on edible plants: Edible Garden Products
1 scoop of Cyper WP = 0.33 oz. (9.5 gm.) which is equivalent to 2 level tablespoons. You will use 1-2 scoops per gallon of water. You can find the complete application instructions on the product label here.
Yes Cyper WP is labeled for roaches. We strongly recommend you use an IGR (insect growth regulator) such as Gentrol IGR, to stop the reproductive cyle of those roaches along with a roach bait such as Maxforce FC Magnum? for optimal roach elimination. Please read over our Roach Control Article for more helpful hints regarding roach control.
