    Q
Can I apply DEMAND CS via a Blag FLag Propane Fogger instead of using a hudson sprayer?
    A
We do not carry Black Flag Foggers and so we cannot make an accurate recommendation. We can say that in the foggers we do carry, the Demand CS particles are too large and have the potential to clog the fogger.

    Q
Is Demand CS the best bug spray and safe for dogs?
I was told by a friend to use Demand CS because he loves it. But with so many options on your sight I am wondering is this the best one for me. I am trying to do all around pest control but what i see the most is black widows, June bugs, pincher bugs and daddy long legs as well as ants. I would like to know what you recommend for strength and longevity.
    A

Demand CS is a great general pest control and works well for spiders, earwigs, ants, mosquitoes and many others. It should be applied monthly outside and inside quarterly. It would be safe if to apply when the dogs are not present until the surfaces are completely dry.

    Q
When using Demand, can you spray this near bushes and shrubs and on grass?
Also, using this product in the home, where should you spray? Can you get some spray on the carpeting? I love this product and have had a professional use it twice a year and now I would like to save some money and try it myself. Can you provide some helpful hints in HOW to spray around the inside and outside of the house! Thanks in advance for your help!
    A
Yes, you can apply Demand CS on and around bushes and shrubs and on grass. In fact you want to spray around the outside perimeter 2-3 feet up and out. Indoors you want to spray cracks, crevices, baseboards. It will not stain should a small amount land on carpeting.

Per the manufacturer it is recommended to use anywhere from 0.2 to 0.8 oz/6 to 24 ml per gallon of water.  If you need to make 50 gallons of mixed solution you would use 10-40 ounces of Demand CS for 50 gallons.  Always follow the product label provided by the manufactuer.

    Q
Does it hurt Demand CS if it freezes?
    A
Insecticides should not be exposed to extreme temperatures such as freezing or over heating or left for prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight. In the case of Demand CS, as long it was only frozen for a very short period of time and after it was thawed out it went back into a solution (the way it usually looks) it should be fine to use. If however it appears that there are particles floating at the top, the product now appears discolored, or the product will not go back into a solution, the product should be discarded and replaced.

    Q
How quickly does Demand CS kill roaches and bed bugs?
    A

Demand CS is a residual insecticide that will continue to kill the labeled insects for an extented period of time.  However it is not a contact kill product.  It can sometimes take a few days before you start to see dead insects after making an application of the product.

  • Asked by Sally from Arbovale, West Virginia
    04/13/2014
    Q
We have Asian beetles that are taking over our cabin. There are hundreds of them inside and out. Help!
    A

Demand CS is labeled for a variety of insects, including Asian Beetles. The key is to treat early enough (early fall) and to apply the product in the right places. Asian beetles enter the structure through cracks and crevices, especially around windows and doors. Be sure to treat these areas thoroughly once a month through November.   You should spray Demand CS outdoors around your door frames, window frames, vents, eaves, around the bottom of your foundation, and any other crack or crevice where an insect could gain entry.

Unfortunately, if you are dealing with them in your house right now you will only see limited results. These move into structures to overwinter. They usually squeeze into wall voids, false ceilings, attics and other areas that are inaccessible to people and insecticides. As the heat kicks on in the house, the bugs warm up and start becoming active and emerge from hiding, driving homeowners nuts. Because most folks usually have no idea where the bugs are harboring you can only treat around baseboards, door frames and window frames and hope the insects will emerge where you have sprayed. After they contact the treated areas, it can take several hours for them to die. It is still worth spraying now to get rid of some of the bugs, but you will keep seeing them until spring when they will emerge en masse and leave your home.

  • Asked by Laurie from Port Saint Lucie, Fl
    09/06/2011
    Q
What is the best treatment for the lawn and outside of house for ticks?
We have used Talstar outside of our house and windows to keep ticks out. We are having our yard sprayed and they are using Talstar and a mix of products but I still have ticks. My dog is covered in them and I have him on preventative also we have dipped him in Happy jack II. I have put the Preventix collar on him and have picked off ticks, washed and dipped every ten days. I need a product to knock them down and kill them. I have also used diatomaceous earth. But they keep coming back. The only relief we had was when winter came and they all went away. I wonder if I need to remove my dog for a while until this problem is resolved. I wish there was a product that just worked on contact and that they didn't come back.
    A
Talstar (and we hope they are adding an insect growth regulator such as Archer IGR to the product mix you mentioned) should do a great job for you. If you wanted to use something with a little more strength you could try Demand CS or its generic Equil Lambda CS. These products contain lambda-cyhalothrin and they are micro-encapsulated which makes them last a little longer on outdoor surfaces. You should remember that ticks may be hidden in tall or dense brush so higher treatment volumes may be needed to treat the entire plant, not just the top side of the plant where it is easiest to spray. You should try to get the application on the underside of leaves and all the way to the bottom of the plant. When you are dealing with an area that has a high tick population you may be required to treat once a month from spring through to the first frost, no matter what product you use. The problem on your property may be that ticks are being reintroduced into the area on a consistent basis by wildlife such as deer, raccoons or birds. You will be required to use non-chemical means to reduce the tick population in addition to insecticides. As with most pests you can modify the environment on your property to make it less favorable to ticks. Keeping grass and weeds cut short in tick infested areas increases tick death during hot weather, discourages wildlife and will reduce the amount of vegetation which may need a pesticide application to kill ticks. Clear away yard debris such as old firewood or leaf piles. Remove old or abandoned bird nests and rodent nests. Patch fences where wildlife may be gaining access to your property. It may also be helpful to have the ticks identified. By identifying the type of ticks you can better understand what type of animals may be bringing them to your property and you can modify the environment to make it less favorable for that host animal. You can contact your local cooperative extension office to request an insect identification.

    Q
Demand CS and Chapin Hose-End Sprayer... what ratio?
I would like to use the Demand CS for Mosquito Control with the hose-end sprayer but am not sure of the ratio?.. How to set the dial?
    A

First, you need to determine how many gallons of water you will be using. To find out how many gallons of water you need to use you will calculate the square footage of the area to be treated(Dmeand CS recommend 1 gallon of mixed solution 1,000 sq feet). For instance, if you have a 6,000 square foot yard that you plan on treating then you would need to multiply 6 x 0.8 which equals 4.8 – You would then add 4.8 oz of Demand CS to the reservoir. Once you add the desired amount of Demand CS to the reservoir, then you would add water to the line selected (6 gallon line mark on the reservoir). You would then set the dial on the top of the Chapin Hose End Sprayer to 6 gallons. Do not turn water on when adjusting the spray nozzle. Next, select the desired spray pattern and then spray until the reservoir is empty.

    Q
What is best to use for black widow spiders?
    A
Demand CS will treat black widows and do a great job for other insects as well. The mixing ratio would be 24mL per gallon of water. After spraying, Demand CS leaves thousands of micro particles that bind to the surface offering long-term protection and fast insect knock-down.

Does Demand CS kill squash bugs?

  • Asked by Charlotte from Lehi
    05/01/2018
    Q
Can I spray my back patio off 24 hours after Demand CS was applied, or will it wash off the product?
Also does mopping wash it off?
    A

If you plan to clean an area where you are going to spray a residual insecticide such as Demand CS, then it would be best to do your cleaning first and then apply the insecticide. This will not only ensure that you are spraying on the actual suface (rather than on top of dust/debris), but it will also prevent unecessary removal of your insecticide. Mopping or other abrasive cleaning will remove most if not all of your residual, so do these treatments before spraying for best results.

Keep in mind that Demand CS and other pyrethroids should not be sprayed over the entire surface of a deck or other hard surface. Keep to perimeter treatments and spot treatments where target insects are found.

    Q
Does Demand CS kill dust mites?
Will it kill dust mites or control them?
    A

Demand CS is not labled to control dust mites in the home. We would suggest using a product like Bedlam Insecticide in labeled areas for residual control, and a product like Sterifab in areas where you want a contact kill on any surface and in areas you can't spray Bedlam.

    Q
Does Demand CS work on ground nesting yellow jackets?
    A

Demand CS can be applied to the lawn. Dusting is the most effective way to treat yellow jackets and ground nests, using Tempo 1% Dust or Delta Dust and applying directly to the holes with a bellow hand duster.  You will want to treat in the evening time when they are least active. Please review our DIY Treatment Guide for Wasps, Yellow Jackets and Hornets for more information.
