Demon WP Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Demon WP Insecticide is not labeled nor would it be recommended to treat a pantry for moths. The best way to eliminate pantry moths is to find the infested food items and dispose of them immediately, then thoroughly clean the infested cabinet. The moth larvae (immature moths) can usually be found in grain products such as pasta, rice, flour, or spices. The adult moths and wandering larvae can be killed with D-Force Insecticide. The active male moths can be lured and trapped with the ProPest Pheronet Pantry Pest Traps. We have put together a Pantry Pest Kit that contains everything you need to get rid of the pantry moths.

Demon WP Insecticide can safely be used on shrubs.

Demon WP is not really selective, so unfortunately it is possible that butterflies or bees could be harmed if they were to come into contact with a treated area.  To minimize this risk, it is recommended to apply in the early morning or in the evening when these insects are least likely to be foraging, and not to apply to any flowering vegetation.  

While Demon WP Insecticide will kill carpenter ants, it will not allow you to kill the colony, which is necessary to eradicate a carpenter ant infestation.  Our Indoor Ant Kit contains the necessary products to eradicate an entire colony of carpenter ants indoors.  Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Carpenter Ants Guide for great information on getting rid of carpenter ants.  

You would want to make sure the area you are treating with Demon WP Insecticide is clean and completely dry before applying the product.

You should not apply Demon WP when you are experiencing any freezing temperatures per the product label.

Demon WP is safe to use around children and pets when mixed and used correctly. Keep children and pets out of the area until the application has had enough time to completly dry, once dry it is safe to resume normal activity. With most professional products such as Demon WP, once you mix it with water it is only strong enough to kill small insects.  

Moping the floors should be done prior to applying Demon WP Insecticide and you should avoid cleaning up the residual left behind on sprayed areas.  When applied as directed onthe label you are only spraying along baseboards and in cracks and crevices inside not the entire floor.  You should avoid mopping these edges as this will remove the residual product.

Cypermethrin is the active ingredient in several products that we carry. Demon WP, is usually the product that is chosen for german roach control. We have also put together the Roach Control Kit # 2 that contains everything you need to control roaches effectively, including Demon WP.

The best product we have for the larger cockroaches, or American cockroaches, is a product called Demon WP.  Demon WP is a wettable powder that you mix with water in a one gallon sprayer.  Wettable powders are easier for the roaches to pick up on their bodies, and they pack more of a punch which is what you need when treating for larger roaches. Since the larger roaches come from the outside, you want to concentrate your spray on the outside of the building.  Spray 2 to 3 feet up onto the building and 2 to 3 feet out onto the ground.  You can also treat inside the rooms where you have issues.  Demon WP is not only labeled to treat roaches, but almost any other insects you may have a problem with including spiders, ants, silverfish, etc.  You should apply once a month for best results.

Demon WP will control just about any spider that comes into contact with the treated areas. Demon WP works very well for even the hardiest insects including spiders, scorpions and roaches.

We can not give advice on sprays that would work for sensitive individuals or in schools. Each state and county have their own regulations that govern what they can and cannot use in schools. You can check with your local school board for their list of pesticides that can be used indoors. Your baby only needs to be out of the area when you are treating and until the area is dry (which can take up to 1 hour).

Demon WP is labeled for use outdoors in areas where fleas develop. Demon WP should not be sprayed on any area where a horse may graze.

Yes, you can plug the hole without treatment if the hole is not big enough for the bee to enter. You should note that the bee may return and start to drill a new hole unless you apply an insecticide such as Demon WP. Some bees will actually bore through paint and varnish so using an insecticide is the only surefire way to get rid of them.

Typically it will not drive them inside because Demon is not necessarily a repellent, meaning the roaches try to avoid the area.  Roaches will walk over where you spray and get the product on their bodies.  Although they can make it inside before dying because Demon WP will take a little bit of time to kill the roach, they should be dead by the time they make it inside.  It definitely would not hurt to spray the attic space for good measure.

You should spray Demon WP around your door frames, window frames, vents, eaves, around the bottom of your foundation, and any other crack or crevice where an insect could gain entry once a month August-November to stop lady bugs from entering your home.

Outdoor applications of Demon WP made once a month October - November can help you get control of the boxelder bugs, though you must understand that it will not drive them off of your property, it will only stop most of them from gaining entry into your home. You should also take the time to inspect the outside of your home and seal up any cracks, crevices or gaps you find so that you are limiting places where the insects can enter your home. Demon WP will also help eliminate roaches from your home but you will need to use it in conjunction with a high quality roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator as roaches like to hide and may not readily come into contact with treated surfaces. You can find both a roach bait gel and an IGR sold together in our Roach Control Kits. When the actual application of the Demon WP is being made all pets and children should be out of the house, and they can return as soon as the treated areas are dry. The roach bait gel should be placed directly into cracks and crevices around counters, sinks, drawers and cabinets. This will make the gel available to the roaches and inaccessible to your pets and children. The Gentrol Point Source do not actually contain any insecticides, just an insect juvenile growth hormone mimic. These discs can also be placed out of reach of children and animals and are readily used in sensitive locations such as hospitals and day cares everyday. Severe infestations may take several months to eliminate no matter what products you use. Sanitation will be a key factor in eliminating the roaches.
