Demon WP Insecticide - Questions & Answers

You would not want to use granules under the crawl space of the house.  The reason being is granules require moisture, either from watering or rain, to release the insecticide that kills the insects.  You should always water in the granules after application especially if you are in an area with little rain and moisture.  This may be why you are not getting good results already in the yard.  Since rain will not make it in the crawl space, or at least it should not be, granules are not good for under the house.  In addition to applying granules in the yard and watering them in, you should apply a liquid insecticide, specifically a wettable powder around the perimeter of the house and underneath the house.  Wettable powders are easier for spiders and other insects to get on their bodies typically and are faster acting.  Our most popular wettable powder product is Demon WP and it can be applied using a hand pump sprayer.

The ground should be dry before you apply Demon WP. If you apply Demon WP to a wet surface it will not have the opprotunity to bond to the surface and could potentially wash away.

Using Diluted Demon Wp after it has been mixed 24 hours would not be advised. The reason being is that the active ingredient will start to break down and cause the solution to become less effective.

Yes, Demon WP can be used on house plants.

Demon will not stain any type of material.  However, since Demon is a powder, after you mix it with water and apply it, there may be a white residue that is left after it dries.  You typically will only see this if you have dark colored flooring and dark baseboards.  The residue can be wiped with a wet, white paper towel very easily.

Demon WP cannot be applied to carpet for flea control indoors. According to the Demon WP product label Demon WP can only be used outdoors for flea control. When using Demon WP outdoors for flea control it is important that you apply the product to places where the fleas develop such as pet resting areas and moist shady spots and not just on the exterior of the structure. We recommend using Ultracide for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. At the end of the 2 week treatment period you may be required to do a follow up treatment of Ultracide to get rid of any stragglers.

Demon WP is diluted with water and applied with a gallon pump sprayer. After it dries, Demon WP continues to work for up to 3 months. Demon WP is label for fleas, when using Demon WP for a flea treatment you would need to use 1 packet per gallon of water.

When treating for roaches, we recommend using a bait, a liquid insecticide and an insect growth regulator (IGR). You are able to treat with all 3 of these products at the same time, just not on top of each other. For instance, our Roach Control Kit # 2 has all 3.

The Demon WP is for crack and crevice treatment around baseboards. Dilute 1 packet per gallon of water in a pump sprayer and apply in cracks and crevices where pests are seen, may harbor, or may enter the structure (corners, baseboards, and under and behind appliances) Do not spray on top of baits where bait will be used.

Demon WP typically leaves a 30 day residual even if it rains. The places on your house where the product is protected from direct rain contact like against the house that may be somewhat sheltered by the roof line, will last longer than other places.

Per the product label under the First Aid table, follow the following procedures if Demon WP is inhaled or swallowed. 

If swallowed: 

• Call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice.
• Have person sip a glass of water if able to swallow.
• Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by the poison control center or doctor.
• Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If inhaled
• Move person to fresh air.
•  If person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably by mouth-to-mouth, if possible.
• Call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment advice.

The label states to apply Demon WP Insecticide in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area.

When applying Demon WP Insecticide indoors, it is labeled for indoor cracks and crevices including the baseboards, behind the refrigerator, etc. We do NOT recommend applying this product to the countertops or food prep surface areas. If during treatment you feel this product may have gotten on the countertop, you can use soap and water to remove the product. 

Yes, Demon WP can be used to control millipedes and dozens of other common crawling and flying pests. Be sure to check for ways to reduce moisture buildup in the environment to create an environment less favorable for these insects, such as pulling back groundcover and trimming plants near the foundation of structures.

Demon WP Insecticide will create a barrier of treatment around and inside your home to treat and prevent Palmetto Bugs. Be sure to spray eaves, soffits, window frames, door frames, areas where cables, pipes or wires enter into the structure and any other crack, crevice or gap where insects can harbor.

The date you see on the bottle will be the date it was manufacturered and packaged. If you store the item at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, the shelf will run between 3 and 5 years.

Demon WP and Suspend SC should NOT be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix Demon WP and Suspend SC together.  Suspend SC is a synthetic pyrethroid and Demon WP already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

You cannot use Demon WP in a hose end sprayer. This is a wettable powder that must be mixed and dissolved into water at the rate of 1-2 packets per gallon of water. There is no way to make a hose end sprayer suck up a powder to disperse in the water as these hose end applicators are only designed for liquids. You also cannot dilute it first and then pour it into the hose end bottle as you will not be accurately treating with the right dilution. You will need to use a hand pump sprayer similar to this Chapin Premier Sprayer to apply this type of product for spider control.

You should try not to mix more than you need of Demon WP Insecticide, but in the event that you do, you will pour any unused portion of solution right up against the foundation of the structure you are treating.
