I live in Southern Maine. Should I apply dimension now in September and again in the spring? Or should I just wait until the spring?

    Q
Would Dimension 2EW Herbicide work well on annual bluegrass (poa annua)?
I live in north NC, and I'm planning an application in fall for annual bluegrass.
    A

Dimension 2EW is labeled to control poa annua (annual bluegrass) before it emerges and should do a good job when applied at the right time. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.  If you are already dealing with Poa Annua, you will need to use a post-emergent, and we do carry several.  Which you choose depends on your grass type.  Certainty is a good choice, but please refer to the label to ensure it can be used on your lawn type.

  • Asked by David from Phoenix, Arizona
    02/12/2018
    Q
How much Dimension 2EW should I use in my 1-gallon container to cover a 220 square foot area?
To provide some background, I live in Phoenix, Arizona and have crushed granite gravel as a ground cover in both front and back yards. I have a 1-gallon battery operated sprayer. I performed a test with water to determine the area the 1-gallon sprayer will dispense. I was only able to cover a 10 x 22 area or 220 square feet before the water ran out. With that said, how much Dimension product should I use per 1-gallon? If my calculations are correct, I should be using .08 to .1 ounce of product. Also, what, if any, is the harm if I used more than the recommended amount?
    A

In Arizona, you would generally make two applications of Dimension 2EW Herbicide 5 to 10 weeks apart. We would recommend the Program 2 or 3 rates of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft and then 1.5 oz per 1,000 sq ft, or 2 applications of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft each, according to the product label. Be sure that you immediately water-in the application with a high volume of water any time there is a barrier like gravel over the ground. This will help get more of the active ingredient down to the soil so that it is not just absorbed into the rocks before it can reach the dirt. (Since this product is still intended to be used around turfgrass and ornamentals, you may not get the same results on a stone area.) At the 1 oz,1000 sq ft rate, you would use 0.22 oz of Dimension 2EW in 1 gallon in your sprayer to cover 220 sq ft.

    Q
I am going to plug my lawn with Zoysia grass. What do you recommend as a pre-emergent for grass and weeds?
I found products to spray on after plugging but I have to wait at least a month. Do you have anything to spray on before I plug?
    A
We checked with several industry experts and they all came back wiht the same answer "there is not anything labeled for residential use that can be used prior to plugging or sodding for pre-emergent control". We are sorry we could not be of more help!

  • Asked by Dave from Broken Arrow
    02/20/2016
    Q
Can Dimension 2EW be applied while raining?
Where I live in oklahoma, it is very difficult to get the timing correct between application and the necessary rain to soak in the herbicide. Often when rain is predicted, the wind is too strong for application. Would it be ok to apply dimension while it is raining. It wouldn't be much fun, but, I figured the rain would help carry it directly from spray tip to the soil without blowing away.
    A

We would not recommend applying herbicides such as Dimension 2EW Herbicide during active precipitation. Instead, you could use a higher volume of water, or you could irrigate the application yourself with at least 1/2 inch of water.

  • Asked by Ernie from Tempe, Az
    03/30/2017
    Q
Should I use dithiopyr or oryzalin? Which is a better pre-emergent?
    A

Whether oryzalin or dithiopyr is the best choice for you will depend on what weeds you are targeting, where you need to apply the product, and what price point you are wanting. Dithiopyr, which is the active ingredient in Dimension 2EW Herbicide, is the preferred pre-emergent for crabgrass and also covers a variety of other grassy and broadleaf weeds. Dimension also has the unique quality of offering early post-emergent control of crabgrass. Oryzalin (Surflan) is economical and can be used in some areas where Dimension may not be able to be used. Always be sure to check the product labels for whether the product you want to use is appropriate for your needs and safe to use around your target areas. Please let us know if we can further assist you.

  • Asked by Janie from Port Ludlow, Wa
    03/25/2016
    Q
How long does Dimension 2EW prevent weeds from reappearing?
We have a large yard and would like to find a product that we only have to apply once a year. Some areas 'permanent - rock parking/walkways; near building; and other in lawn borders and flower beds. What would you recommend? Thank you.
    A

The program that is chosen will depend on how long Dimension 2EW Herbcide lasts in the soil. For example, if Program 1 is done, it will provide 3-5 months of pre-emergent control. Most pre-emergent products will have to be applied at least twice a year to prevent Spring and Summer weeds.

  • Asked by Bill from Brooksville, Fl

    Q
I am looking for a pre emergent with a broad label for broad leaf and crabgrass weeds in St. Augustine grass.
I am in central Florida and will be applying before Feb. 15th. I have had a couple of bad years chasing broad leaf weeds with different post emergent products.
    A

Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass as well as many other broadleaf weeds, and it can safely be used on St. Augustine grass.  Please check the product label to ensure that it will control the other weeds that you are targeting.

    Q
What pre-emergent do you recommend to control crabgrass on St. Augustine?
Moved into a new house and the lawn has quite a bit of crabgrass.
    A

For long term control though, you should apply a pre-emergent in the late fall and early spring which will prevent new crabgrass from coming up next year.  If you apply pre-emergent every year, you should not have issues with crabgrass long term.  Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass.

  • Asked by Derek from Oklahoma
    03/17/2014
    Q
Can I mix Dimesion with another weed killer such as 2-4-D or RoundUp?
I have always used a pre-emergent on my Bermuda grass yard in the past years and it has worked on a lot of other weeds, but not slowed my crab grass down any. I want to try Dimension on my yard because I have read some really good reviews on it. In years past I have always used my pre-emergent and mixed it with RoundUp in the early spring to knock down the early weeds that have already sprouted. Can I do the same with Dimension?
    A
Yes, Dimension can be tank mixed with a variety of other herbicides and fertilizers. It is always recommended to do a test mix first to make sure whatever product you are wanting to use with the Dimension blends easily and does not cause clumping or any reaction that would cause your equipment to clog.

  • Asked by Chip from Bokchito, Ok
    05/13/2015
    Q
Would this be used as a fall pre-emergent?
Most of the information pertains to applying it at the correct time in the spring. Would this be an effective fall pre-emergent for southern Oklahoma pasture land or is the spring application all that is needed? Is there a better product for fall application?
    A
Dimension 2EW can be used as a pre-emergent treatment in early spring, summer, late summer and fall. When you do your applications will depend on what you are treating for. Please refer to the label for Dimenison 2EW to check the plans and rotation for specific weeds.
