    Q
Will Dismiss Turf Herbicide harm or be absorbed by an orange tree that is adjacent to the lawn I am treating? Is this safe to use with the orange tree that close the lawn area?
    A

The application of Dismiss Turf Herbicide will need to stay outside of the drip line of any fruit trees or any edibles to avoid uptake by the tree roots.

For weeds under the canopy or within the drip line of fruit trees, it s recommended to spot treat the weeds directly with Avenger Weed Killer Concentrate as this is a non selective herbicide.

    Q
Will Dismiss work on bittercress in my dormant northern Virginia fescue in winter temperatures of 30-40 degrees?
    A

Dismiss Turf Herbicide has no temperature restrictions unless it’s above 90 degrees.  But the weeds would need to be actively growing in order for the proudct to be effective, and that is usually when temperatures are above 55 degrees.  For control of bittercress in your fescue lawn at lower temperatures, you can use something with an Ester formula like SpeedZone.  Keep in mind that the weeds would still need to be growing for best results.

    Q
I have excessive henbit growth in my back yard. Would Dismiss Turf Herbicide kill it?
My yard is a mix of Fescue and Bermuda, which is spreading from my neighbors lawn. It's early February and the weeds are popping up everywhere. My back yard measures approx 1/3 acre. Would a selective herbicide be best or do you recommend a weed and feed?
    A

Dismiss Turf Herbicide is labeled to kill Henbit and labeled safe for fescue and Bermudagrass. It's a post-emergent and will kill the weeds that are already popping up. For better control of Henbit, you can make a pre-emergent application using Prodiamine 65 WDG in the summer, fall or winter before weed seeds germinate.

    Q
Have not mowed yet this spring. should I mow (high cut) before using Dismiss on Star of Bethlehem to help?
    A
    Hi Dan,

Yes, I would do at least one mowing before applying Dismiss.  Then wait about 3 days before spraying and allow at least 3 days after spraying before mowing again.  This will make sure the grass and weeds are actively growing for the most weed control absorption.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Q
What weed killer/preventer should I use with my new emerald Zoysia?
Weeds include goose grass, sedge, and most typical florida lawn weeds. Because Emerald grows so slow I feel the need to prevent and kill more weeds than I would with st Augustine or any other lawn. I've used sedge pro but it does not get a lot of the other weeds.
    A
Dismiss Turf would be a great product to treat your Empire Zoysia for weeds like segde, etc. Be sure that your new has been mowed at least 2 times prior to application. Please also, refer to the product label for application instructions.

    Q
Options to Dismiss for property adjacent to lake
I have a Bahia grass yard in Central Florida. Dismiss is the product I believe will kill my weeds including Nutsedge and broadleaf weeds. The problem is that it can not be used within 50' of water or where runoff may enter a body of water, and I live on a lake. Is there another product that kills Nutsedge and broadleaf weeds in Bahia turf grass?
    A

We recommend using a product that specifically states bahia grass will tolerate it. Please look in to Fertilome Weed Free Zone. This product will treat many different types of broadleaf weeds and bahia grass will tolerate it. We recommed that you treat with SedgeHammer for the treatment of nutsedge in your lawn. Please read the product labels for both products prior to application for more detailed information.

    Q
Can Dismiss Turf Herbicide be used with a pre-emergent?
it is coming into spring so i want to avoid new weeds but i have existing ones I need to kill too..
    A

You could potentially apply Dismiss Turf Herbicide with a pre-emergent herbicide as long as neither label prohibits such use and both can be used in the same areas. However, you want to be sure that you are applying your products at the optimal time for the weeds you are targeting. Pre-emergents must be applied before weeds germinate, which is usually when soil temperatures are between 50-55 degrees. Post-emergent herbicides will be most effective when target weeds are young and actively growing; for most herbicides this is in the range of 60-85 degrees. Be sure to calibrate products properly, and if you are mixing two products that have not previously been verified to work together, it is best to do a small jar test for compatability first.

    Q
After treating kyllinga with Dismiss are the seed heads no longer viable, or will they continue to propagate?
    A

Dismiss Turf Herbicide is only a post-emergent herbicide, so it will not affect any seed heads that possibly split and have not yet germinated at the time of application and before the target plants have died. You may want to take the label rates for Table 2 (sedges) and split your application for optimal control of weeds like nutsedge and kyllinga.

    Q
I am treating 3 acres of Centipede for cudweed, is Dismiss Turf Herbicide more effective for cudweed than Fertilome?
Used Dismiss Turf Herbicide last year and had great results on the cudweed. I like to spot treat some areas where still seeing cudweed but wondering if Dismiss or Fertilome would be better.
    A

Both Dismiss and Fertilome Weed Free Zone are excellent to treat cudweed and can be used on Centipedegrass. We do suggest alternating your active ingredients to avoid resistance buildup.
