    Q
What is the differance between Dismiss Turf Herbicide and Dismiss South Herbicide?
    A

The main difference between Dismiss and Dismiss South Herbicide is the Dismiss South works better and faster against purple nutsedge in warm-season grasses (Excluding St. Augustine) Dismiss South goes beyond just attacking the weed on the surface, by penetrating the soil and controlling the sedge tubers.

    Q
What time of the year near Houston, TX should I use Dismiss Turf Herbicide for nutsedge and broadleaf weed control in centipede?
I seeded last year towards end of summer and wanted to start knocking down these weeds before early spring if possible. I will also be overseeding a little bit more centipede.
    A

You should not use Dismiss Turf Herbicide in temperatures above 85 degrees or below freezing. Weeds must be actively growing for Dismiss to work properly. Be sure to read the Dismiss product label for complete usage instructions. Per the product label : Reseeding, overseeding or sprigging of treated areas within one (1) month after application of this product could inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrasses.

  • Asked by John from Vero Beach, Fl
    11/03/2020
    Q
How much Dismiss Turf should be used for 100 gallon tank mix?
    A

The application rate for Dismiss Turf Herbicide will depend on your grass type. The rate for cool seasons grasses is 0.092-0.18 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft or 4-8 oz per acre and 0.18-0.275 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft or 8-12 oz per acre for warm season grasses.

In order to determine the amount of water you will need to use in your 100 gal tank you will need to mark off a 1,000 sq ft area and go over that area with just water. You will then need to do the math to determine how much water will cover your entire area you are planning to treat and determine the amount of product used for your grass type. For example, if it takes 2 gallons of water to cover 1,000 sq ft and you have a cool season grass and you are planning to treat 5,000 sq ft you will need to use 0.46-0.9 fl oz in 10 gallons of water to cover the entire 5,000 sq ft.

    Q
What time of year can we apply Dismiss Turf Herbicide? Is it a pre emergent and a post emergent?
Can this be used as both pre emergent and post emergent product?
    A
Dismiss Turf Herbicide is a selective post only emergent product that is meant to be used on sedge and kyllinga weeds.  It is labeled for most warm and cool season turf grasses.  Since this is a post emergent product, you should apply it whenever you see signs of sedge or other weeds as permitted on the label.  You should always read the label first to make sure it is ok to use on your type of grass. Here is a link to the Dismiss Turf Herbicide product label.

  • Asked by Terry from Mt. Carmel, Illinois
    09/03/2015
    Q
If I read the bottle of Dismiss Turf Herbicide as 6.00 oz., then how many gallons of finished solution can I make using .025 ounce per gallon of water?
Strictly looking at the decimal points this looks like 6oz would mix 240 gallon. That's a little over 27 cents per gallon. Many items cost $15.00 per gallon (Prosedge?).
    A

Dismiss Turf Herbicide comes in a bottle that contains 6.0 ounces of concentrate, which will cover 0.5 to 1.25 acres, depending on the weeds you are treating and the turf. Many professional herbicides will come in a size that will cover an average of one Acre (43,560 sq ft). It is important to keep in mind that your water is just a carrier, and how much water is needed to get uniform coverage will vary with your equipment and the speed at which it is moving. Therefore, it is hard to estimate exactly how many gallons of water will be used when you are covering a large area. You can break down the rate of 4-12 ounces per Acre to 0.092 to 0.275 ounces per 1,000 square feet, using adequate water to get thorough coverage of the area using your equipment.

Dismiss Herbicide will control more weed species than the Prosedge, however it may be easier to use a product like Prosedge if you only have a small area to cover.
