Do you really need Bait Plate Stations?

For outdoor ants, do you really need a bait station? Why not just put the bait near the ant colony?

Answer:

You do not have to use Bait Plate Stations for ant bait. We do recommend using them if bait can be contaminated by cleaning products or other nearby debris. For ant bait gels, they are limited on outside applications to only crack and crevice areas protected from weather and sun, so the bait stations allow you to use in areas of activity other than those.
