As with any pre-emergent you do have to water in after application to get down into the soil to create the barrier. Per the product label: Weed control is most effective when Barricade 4FL is activated by at least 0.5 inch of rainfall or irrigation or shallow incorporation (1-2 inches) before weed seeds germinate and within 14 days following application.
