Dominion 2L is an excellent termiticide and insecticide used for subterranean, drywood, dampwood termites and carpenter ants that contains the exact same active ingredient and percentage as Premise 2 and I Maxx Pro 2F. Dominion 2L can be sprayed directly on an active termite infestation or poured into the ground around a home or building to protect against subterranean termites. Dominion 2L is also non-repellent, meaning that termites will crawl over the product without detecting it, and spread it to each other by touch and food sharing, eventually eliminating the entire infestation. Yields 50 gallons of finished solution per bottle.

Dominion 2L Termiticide/Insecticide is a versatile non-repellent liquid concentrate with the active ingredient Imidacloprid. Imidacloprid is in the class of insecticides known as neonicotinoids, neuro-active insecticides that are modeled after nicotine. Imidacloprid works by disrupting inhibiting stimuli transmission within an insect’s nervous system. More specifically, imidacloprid blocks a certain type of neuronal pathways which are much more prevalent in insects than mammals.
Termites and ants do not detect Dominion 2L and pick up the active ingredient through contact and ingestion. Because the active ingredient works slowly, ants and termites continue their regular activity and pass the active ingredient throughout the colony through touching and food sharing, eventually eliminating the entire colony.
Dominion 2L also works as an insecticide for turf and ornamental pests. Dominion 2L works as a foliar spray, killing insects on contact, or as a systemic insecticide. As a drenching treatment, Dominion 2L works from the ground up, being absorbed through a plant’s root system and killing insects that feed on that plant, such as aphids and whiteflies, by ingestion.
Subterranean termites, carpenter ants, aphids, adelgids, whiteflies, other turf and ornamental pests

Dominion 2L is a liquid concentrate termiticide and insecticide for use outdoors around residential and commercial structures. As a termiticide, Dominion 2L is extremely popular as a ground treatment, either pre-construction or post-construction trenching for the prevention and treatment of subterranean termites. Dominion 2L has the same ingredient as Premise 2 Termiticide, but at a much lower cost. Indoor applications of Dominion 2L are limited to spot treatments for live termite infestations.
Dominion 2L is also an excellent systemic insecticide for a variety of turf an ornamental pests. Dominion 2L can be applied as a foliar spray on ornamentals and turf, or as a soil drench or injection around trees and shrubs. Dominion 2L can also be used as part of ant management programs to control aphids, scale insects, mealybugs, and other sucking pests on ornamentals to limit the honeydew available as a food source for ant populations.
For subterranean termite control, the purpose of chemical soil treatment is to establish a continuous chemical treated zone (horizontal and/or vertical) between the wood and other cellulose material in the structure and the termite colonies in the soil. Structures containing wells or cisterns within the foundation of the structure can only be treated using the treated backfill method. Using a 0.1% solution (0.6 fl. oz. per gallon of water), use 4 gallons of finished solution per 10 lineal feet of 6 in. by 6 in. trench around the structure. For soil treatments to be covered by concrete slab such as under carports, porches, or basement floors, apply at a rate of 1 gallon or sufficient volume of solution to accurately and uniformly cover 10 square feet.
See our article How to Do a Subterranean Termite Treatment for further details of trenching treatment.
Dominion 2L can be converted to a foam to treat voids or hollow block to create a continuous treated zone or to treat active infestations of subterranean termites in structures at expansion rates of 5:1, 10:1, or 20:1.
* For soil drenching of trees and shrubs, use 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. per inch of trunk diameter or per foot of shrub height and apply through soil injection or soil drench.
Termite treatments around structures and building construction; turfgrass (including sod farms), landscape ornamentals, fruit and nut trees (non-commercial), trees, shrubs, flowers and groundcovers, and interior plantscapes; turfgrass in home lawns, business and office complexes, shopping complexes, multi-family residential complexes, golf courses, airports, cemeteries, parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and sod farms; in and around industrial and commercial buildings and residential areas: trees, shrubs, evergreens, flowers, foliage plants, groundcovers, interior plantscapes; state, national, and private wooded and forested areas (soil injection and soil drench applications); Pome Fruit trees: Apple, Crabapple, Loquat, Mayhaw, Pear, oriental Pear, Quince; Pecan trees; Grapes
Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can only be used indoors for localized treatment of active termite infestations.
Perimeter Pest Control: Treat soil, turf, or ground cover adjacent to the structure where ants are trailing or may find food or harborage. Apply to flower, shrub or ornamental plant beds adjacent to the structure where ants may find food or storage. To control ants tunneling in soil apply a 0.05% to 0.1% solution as a drench or soil injection at intervals to establish a continuous treated zone. Treat along the edge of walls, driveways or other hard surfaces where ants are tunneling beneath the surface. Maximum application is once per month. Do not use against native or imported fire ants, pharaoh, or harvester ants.
Turfgrass: Apply Dominion 2L in sufficient water to provide adequate distribution in the treated area. Use equipment which will produce a uniform, coarse droplet spray, using a low pressure setting to eliminate off target drift. Do not apply through any irrigation equipment. Use 0.46 to 0.6 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet. For chinch bug suppression, apply 0.6 fl. oz. (17 mL) before hatching of the first instar nymphs. For best control, irrigation or rainfall should occur within 24 hours after application to move the active ingredient through the thatch. Avoid mowing are until after irrigation or rainfall.
Foliar applications: Use 1.5 fl. oz. per 100 gal. of water for foliar pests on trees, shrubs, flowers, groundcovers, etc. Begin applications before the onset of high pest populations and reapply as needed. For broadcast applications, use 0.46 to 0.6 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. Use enough water to mix the product and thoroughly apply to the treatment area. Do not use less than 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For best results, irrigate after application to incorporate Dominion 2L into the upper soil level.
Soil drench: For trees, use 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. per inch of trunk diameter (or per foot of shrub height for shrubs). Apply uniformly as a drench around the base of the tree in not less than 10 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Direct application to the root area. Remove plastic or any other barrier that will stop solution from reaching the root zone. For soil injection, Use enough water to mix the product and inject an equal amount of solution in each hole. Use low pressure and sufficient solution for distribution of the liquid into the treatment area. For best control, keep the treated area moist for 7 to 10 days. Do not use less than 4 holes per tree or shrub.

Unsure at this time

I had a major infestation of flying drone termites in my house. I trenched around my entire house 6-8" down and 4-5" away from foundation where I could and drilled a 1/2" hole 18" deep at the stoop and driveway every 10" and applied Dominion 2L at the rate shown for heavy infestation. I still had them in my house 5 days later though not as bad. I then went to the basement and exposed the exterior framing at the foundation and proceed to spray the BoraCare. 1/2 way through this process I found huge piles of dirt and trails a plenty underneath my front door. At this time I saturated the wood using the Dominion 2L. It is now over a week since then (2 weeks since treating outside) and I am still finding one or two termite upstairs everyday.

Dominion 2L Product Review
By Patrick on 04/29/2010
I don't know why the wood adjacent to my bath tub wet-wall was moist? I found no leaks and the plumbing vent to the roof was well sealed. Condensation? The bath drainpipe and water inlets come up through a hole in the slab. The subterranean termite varmints tunneled 10' or 40' under the house slab and surfaced at this point of exposed earth attracted by the moist wood. They swarmed the first warm days in Spring. I treated the exposed earthen area with the Dominion 2L termiticide and then filled it in with sand which is known to obstruct termites. I treated the slab, wood framing, floor and molding with a 2:1 water to Bora-Care mixture. I sprayed Bora-Care down from the attic and drilled holes in the walls where there was no other access. I finished by treating the ground around the house with Dominion 2L. This is my first experience with a termite infestation and my problem appears to have been solved for under $170. I Thank DoMyOwnPestControl.com for providing professional products at fair prices.

Effective
By Lawrence on 06/08/2010
I used this material to treat a very large tree in my yard that was being attacked by termites and large black ants. I previously used products from Home Depot; a complete waste of money. Within one day, I could not find any activity.

Good Value
By Robert on 05/21/2010
I found the process not that difficult. I used a short pickax to dig the trench, and needed 2 containers of Dominion. I found the tech support from the website to be great, but still have to wait a while to see if all termite activity ceases. So far so good, no new mud tubes, and its been 3 weeks since the application.

Dominion 2L works as advertised
By Robert on 06/12/2010
I trenched around my house (using a small pickax) and applied Dominion 2L as directed by the very helpful staff at DoMyOwnPestControl.com. It's a month and a half later, we replaced a threshold that was eaten up, and there doesn't appear to be any signs of termites. This wasn't easy, but it saved a bundle. Also the carpenter ant gel sold on this site is very effective. Thanks again!!

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate should not harm the lawn at that rate. We recommend that you treat with 0.6 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft on future applications per the product label instructions. If you do show signs of damage, you can reach Control Solutions at 281-892-2500 for assistance.

How do you treat around the house with Dominion 2L. Or what is a safe distance from well to house being treated??
It all depends on how far away the well or cistern is away from the property. Here is the verbiage off of the instruction label for Dominion:
TREATMENT AROUND WELLS OR CISTERNS: Do not contaminate wells or cisterns.
Structures With Wells/Cisterns Inside Foundations: Structures that contain wells or cisterns within the foundation of a structure can only be treated using the following techniques:
1. Do not apply within 5 feet of any well or cistern by rodding and/or trenching or by the backfill method. Treat soil between 5 and 10 feet from the well or cistern by the backfill method only. Treatment of soil adjacent to water pipes within 3 feet of grade should only be done by the backfill method.
a) Trench and remove soil to be treated onto heavy plastic sheeting or similar material or into a wheelbarrow.
b) Treat the soil at the rate of 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet per foot of depth of the trench, or 1 gallon per 1.0 cubic feet of soil. Mix thoroughly into the soil taking care to contain the liquid and prevent runoff or spillage.
c) After the treated soil has absorbed the solution, replace the soil into the trench.
Structures With Adjacent Wells/Cisterns and/or Other Water Bodies: Applicators must inspect all structures with nearby water sources such as wells, cisterns, surface ponds, streams, and other bodies of water and evaluate, at a minimum, the treatment recommendations listed below prior to making an application.
1. Prior to treatment, if feasible, expose the water pipes) coming from the well to the structure, if the pipes) enter the structure within 3 feet of grade.
2. Prior to treatment applicators are advised to take precautions to limit the risk of applying the termiticide into subsurface drains that could empty into any bodies of water. These precautions include evaluating whether application of the termiticide to the top of the footer may result in contamination of the subsurface drain. Factors such as depth to the drain system and soil type and degree of compaction should be taken into account in determining the depth of treatment.
3. When appropriate (i.e., on the water side of the structure), the treated backfill technique (described above) can also be used to minimize off-site movement of termiticide.

Dominion 2L would not work for elm bark beetles as it would not reach to the areas of the trees these beetles infest. Effective treatment involves killing the beetles before they bore into bark in fall and when they first emerge in spring so protecting healthy trees is best. Timing is critical to reach the pests before they're under the protective bark. You can use a product like Permethrin SFR for this.
There are also articles linked below that can help:

I previously purchased Dominion 2L and Delta Dust to treat my log home against carpenter ants and carpenter bees. If I spray Dominion 2L on the fascia of my home will it kill the carpenter bees that are hovering around?
Dominion 2L is not a detterent, it is a non-repellent. It is not labeled for carpenter bee control. It can be applied a foot up and a foot out directly up against the structure for crawling insects that forage inside the structure and in the soil trench/drilled holes for termite treatment and protection. Delta Dust can be applied to cracks and crevices, voids and the holes that the bees bored in the wood and/or siding. Please apply a liquid insecticide concentrate to the structure's surface for eradication. I have included an article below that I you will find helpful.

Should each cinder block be drilled into each cavity (2 per block) or should be done every few blocks? Also once drilled how should Dominion 2L be used?

Dominion 2L should only be applied to the exterior of the structure for ants, termites, soil drenches etc for listed uses on the product label. It should not be mixed with Talstar P. Talstar P can be applied quarterly to the interior cracks and crevices and exterior listed areas. Dominion 2L is a non-repellent, but Talstar P is not, so mixing together would not be advised.

I have an active termite infestation 50 feet from my house in old tree stumps. What's the best product to treat that? I also want to protect my house. I have had carpenter ant damage in my add on room. I had that professionally treated, but want to save money and do the rest myself if possible. I haven't found any evidence of termite damage in my house or porch so far. I was thinking of trenching and using Termidor around my house. Is that enough?
You need to get the Dominion into the ground, so you would typically want to drill holes in the tree stump, and around the tree stump into the ground, and then inject the Dominion inside any holes. It will touch the termites that are inside and underneath the stump and eliminate them completely.
Dominion or Termidor could be used in the trench around the house and would be great to do so. Termidor would last longer in the soil, 10 years or more whereas Dominion is about 5-7 years.

Pretty sure most of these concrete stairs are soil/gravel filled (not solid.) Do I treat the soil around the perimeter of the stairs or drill directly into the stairs at the top near the exterior wall of the house? (some are 3-4' high) Also, we have a crawl space so I will be doing the foundation perimeter there, will doing this cover that area enough so I can skip the stairs?
