    Q
Do you know the reasoning behind the manufacturer's product label stating Dominion 2L Termiticide is "Not approved for use in Louisiana for post-construction?"
I'm wondering if this is an EPA thing or if there's something about Louisiana that will cause it to be less effective. Or maybe even something else. I ask because I just had my annual termite renewal (in Louisiana) from a professional company and when I asked what they were using the tech said Dominion.
    A

In Louisiana you are limited due to the high water tables and constant risk of flooding from hurricanes and other weather patterns there is too much risk for most products such as Dominion 2L Termiticide to move and contaminate drinking water or water where aquatic life would be found. Phantom Termiticide is the lowest risk option

    Q
Can Dominion 2L Termiticide be used to treat for chili thrips on roses growing in pots that are 16-24
I read the answer you provided the gentleman with the Jade Tree in a pot. His question and your response were both helpful.
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide is not labeled for use in containerized plants at all, so it could not be applied to your roses in pots. You could use a granule such as Hi-Yield Systemic Granules for containerized plants. For a 16 inch pot, you would apply 1/2 C of granules and apply at the first sign of insect activity and at 8 week intervals during the growing season. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

    Q
Can Cyper be used with Dominion 2L
Does Dominion 2L and Cyper work together or against each other?
    A

You should not mix 2 residual insecticides like Dominion 2L Termiticide and Cyper TC. It is never a good idea to try to mix insecticides unless the label instructions clearly state that you can do so.  Mixing insecticides can cause them to not work properly.

    Q
How should I do a termite treatment around the foundation of my house with Dominion 2L?
    A

To do a termite treatment with Dominion 2L, it is recommended to trench the soil (6”X6” trench against foundation) to apply.  This will provide a 7 year barrier.  Please take a few moments to review our treatment article and videos on How to Perform a Termite Treatment.

    Q
I am trying to eliminate black scale or tulip scale from my young 4 yr old olive tree. Will Dominion 2L work?
They are infesting the new growth leaves and branches of the young tree. Will it affect the olive fruit and make it unedible?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is best applied before scale has become an issue as it takes time to be translocated throughout the plant, up to 8 weeks or so.  It is not labeled for use on any bearing fruit trees though.  Olive trees can be sensitive to neem oil, which is what is commonly used on edibles for disease/insects, so we are not sure that it would be a safe application. We suggest contact a local Master Gardner for recommendations on how to treat this pests on your edible olive trees..

    Q
How do you figure for application of Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate for shrubs?
It says so much for the height, how about the length?
    A

You should measure the height of the shrub (the length is not calculated). The mix rate is 0.1 fl oz to 0.2 fl oz of Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate per foot of shrub height as a drench around the base of the shrubs/bushes in no less than 10 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet. Direct application to the root area is best.

    Q
Will Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate kill carpenter bees?
    A

The Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate label states the following: Localized treatment for carpenter bees: Apply a 0.05% to 0.1% solution as a spray or mist, or sufficient volume of foam, directly into gallery entrance holes. Following treatment, entrance holes may be plugged with small pieces of steel wool or similar material.

A more effective treatment for carpenter bees would be our Carpenter Bee Control Kit.

    Q
Can I mix in Gamma-Cyhalothrin with Dominion 2L for a perimeter roach spray?
I have both of these. Or should I spray them separately?
    A

Dominion 2L is not labeled for a perimeter spray for roaches or other insects except ants and then the listed termite treatments. You can use a gamma-cyhalothrin spray for perimeter roach control, or you could use a combination product such as Temprid FX. Temprid has beta-cyfluthrin and imidacloprid already formulated together, and this is an excellent perimeter spray.

    Q
We have an earth berm home, so the roof on the north side is so low I can't get under to trench
The roof is only a couple feet off the ground, so I can't get under it to dig a trench to pour the termiticide. If I repeat the treatment every year, can I just use it as a soil drench, like I would if I were treating a tree for bugs? I could do that, and maybe scrape a bit of a shallow trench under there to pour into.
    A

If you cannot trench with Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate in an area you would just have to leave that area open as a possible entry or you can use stations in the area as part of prevention.  Applying Dominion as you would a soil drench to a plant would not have the same effect as it would in an actual 6 x 6 trench.  It lasts 5-7 years in the soil so would not be applied once a year for termite prevention.

    Q
If I ran out of Taurus, can I finish a trenching application with Dominion? Can I spray Dominion over Taurus?
    A

There would be no reason to to apply one over the other but if you need to finish with Dominion you can, just be aware if does not last as long in the soil as Taurus.  Dominion lasts 5-7 years versus 10 years or more with Taurus.

    Q
Can Dominion 2L be used to kill Pharaoh ants?
    A

Per the label, Dominion 2L Termiticide can not be used to treat Pharaoh ants. We do carry several ant baits that  are labeled for Pharaoh ants. We recommend you offer both a gel bait such as Advion as well as a granule bait such as Advance 375A.  Offering both baits will ensure the ants have their nutritional needs met and at least one of the baits will be accepted.

  • Asked by Chandra from San Diego,ca

    Q
Will Dominion 2L kill thrips on roses?
Systemically will it reach the rose buds? Those suckers feast on the flowering parts.
    A

The Dominion 2L can be used as a systemic application to roses and other plants for thrips and it would do a great job. If you have a heavy population of them though, you may find that you need to do a foliar application  to the buds while the systemic makes its way through the plant to eliminate them and protect them for the rest of the season. Products like Talstar P are often used in this instance to spray where they are currently damaging the plants and provide residual control for a month or so on the surface. If you use the Dominion, you would apply at the rate of 0.2-0.4 oz per foot of shrub height in roughly 1-2 gallons of water based on your rose bush size.

    Q
Can I mix weed herbicide with Dominion 2L?
Thinking about SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate + Dominion 2L
    A

No, we would not recommend to mix your insecticides like Dominion 2L Termiticide and herbicides like SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate together.  You will need to apply the products separately and if using the same sprayer be sure to triple rinse or use a tank cleaner between products.

    Q
Will dominion 2L kill yellowjackets and/or their nest?
    A
    Dominion 2L

is not labeled to control yellow jackets or their nests. Instead we would recommend a product like Wasp Freeze if you can see the entire nest to spray it at once, or a product like Delta Dust if you can only treat the entry/exit points you see the insects coming and going from in the ground, behind siding, or around a homes foundation/decking.
