    Q
How does Dominion 2L kill ants?
I mixed one ounce per gallon and sprayed them but they just walk right through it like nothing at all. I watch a few several minutes but they didn't die. how long does it take?
    A
Dominion  2L does kill ants. The product is specifically designed to be a non-repellent which means the ants will not be able to tell that it is there and will readily walk through treated areas. The product is also designed to have a delayed reaction kill which allows the ants to get back to the colony and spread the insecticide to the other ants before they start to feel the effect of the product. You should see the full effect of using Dominion 2L within 1-3 weeks when you are using as recommended on the product label.

    Q
Label has no specific instructions for ant control. Why do you keep recommending we read the label for ants?
I read threw your Q&A and you keep saying to read the label for use against ants. I read the entire label and it doesn't say anything about killing ants. It just talks about termites, and about 1000 types of beetles. No ants. I wish there was a "guide" of some sort for using against ants. I think I have a good idea from bits and pieces of information I picked up reading the Q&A. I just don't want to miss anything.
    A
The Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is labeled for ants and does indeed provide specific treatment instructions for ants. You can find this information on Page 8 of the product label under "PERIMETER PEST CONTROL". We recommend that you read the product label because it's the law to do so before use. You would mix 0.6 oz. per gallon of water and apply the Dominion 2L as a perimeter treatment, spraying 2 feet up the side of the structure and 2 feet out on the ground. Be sure to spray window frames, door frames, where pipes enter the structure, and any cracks and crevices. If you have any further questions please let us know.

    Q
Why is Dominion 2L not to be used against imported fire ants, harvester, or pharaoh ants?
    A
Dominion 2L is not labeled to treat those ants because of a patent issue with another product. If these ants happen to be on the foundation when you apply the product, it will of course affect them as well. For patent issues though, the manufacturer of Dominion 2L cannot place those ants as a target pest on the label.

    Q
Will Dominion 2L hurt my bees?
I want to use Dominion to kill ants in my trees. I've tried bait but with how much it rains the bait washes away or starts to grow things. Since the Dominion is similar to Termidor and will stay on the tree through the rain, I thought it was my best choice. I wanted to know if it would be safe for my honey bees. Could it kill them or cause their honey to be poisonous?
    A

Dominion 2L contains Imidacloprid which could indeed be harmful to honey bees. According to the Dominion 2L product label ,"This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply this product or allow it to drift to blooming crops or weeds if bees are visiting the treatment area."

You may want to consider using ant bait in a bait station such as the Ant No More Bait Station which can be placed around the base of the infested trees. By placing the bait into the station you will be protecting it from the elements. Ant No More allows you to add two of your own favorite liquid, gel, or granular ant baits. The choice of two different baits ensures greater attraction for all kinds of ants.

    Q
Is Dominion 2L effective if sprayed on brickwork above ground?
In order to form a barrier around the house, does this product have to be sprayed on the ground or trenched?
    A
For ant control, Dominion 2L can just be applied around the perimeter of the home and on the ground around the home since ants walk on top of the ground.  For termite control, you must dig a trench and treat into the ground as outlined in our "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article because termites enter the home from underground.

    Q
Is Dominion 2L safe to be applied in a livestock pasture to treat a large colony and mounds of Cutter Ants? There is an area bout 20ft in circumference I need to treat.
    A

We recommend that you consult with your local agricultural department to see what they recommend for use in livestock pastures for cutter ants. Dominion 2L Termiticide cannot be used in pastures for cutter ants and It does not look like there is much on the market for this use.
