    Q
Is Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate labeled for Crane Flies?
We live on a small lake and the backyard is infested with these things on the walls of our home. The front yard seems to be ok. It is damper in the back yard because of the lake.
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is not labeled for Crane Flies. We would recommend Talstar P to spray the perimeter of the home, bushes, trees, shrubs, etc for control of Crane Flies. Talstar P should be used early to mid season to control the larvae of crane flies. This application should be made between August-February during times when the ground is not frozen. If treatments are made in March-April, they may only provide supression. You can consult with your local cooperative extension office for details on timing of application in your area specifically.

    Q
Why is Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate not labeled for indoor use?
    A

Dominion 2L is not labeled for indoor use as a pest control spray, meaning it is not permitted to apply out in the open indoors.  We are not sure of the exact reasons why the manufacturer has placed this restriction on it.  However, you can use Dominion 2L as a spot treatment indoors if you are treating for termites.  You can spot treat inside for termites by treating inside wall voids or expansion joints since you are not spraying out in the open.

    Q
Can I use Dominion 2L as a soil drench on Elm trees for bark beetles?
My trees are over 60' tall and not practical for spraying.
    A

Dominion 2L would not work for elm bark beetles as it would not reach to the areas of the trees these beetles infest.  Effective treatment involves killing the beetles before they bore into bark in fall and when they first emerge in spring so protecting healthy trees is best. Timing is critical to reach the pests before they're under the protective bark.  You can use a product like Permethrin SFR for this.  There are also articles linked below that can help

    Q
Will Dominion work for the Seagrape Borer? Also, can it be used for thrips?
    A

Dominion 2L is labelled to treat for Thrips on trees and the application rate is 0.1 to 0.4 fl. oz. (3 to 12 mL) per inch of trunk diameter (D.B.H.)

For treating Sea Grape Borers, unfortunately, there have not been any studies in recent years to show that any insecticide is effective on them. The best recommendation for control is pruning and destroying twigs infested with the borers as a method of reducing populations.
