    Q
I did a full trench treatment with Dominion 2L last year. What should I now use as a annual treatment?
Could I use a repellant such as Demon or Bifen or continue with Dominion?
    A
Dominion 2L should only be applied in a trench for a perimeter treatment for termites once every 7 years. Using an insect such as Demon WP or Bifen can be applied to the top of the soil for general insect control monthly on the exterior of the structure and once every 90 days to indoor cracks and crevices.

When using Dominion 2L, you should mix .6 ounces per gallon of water, or 2.4 oz. per 4 gallons of water.  Four gallons of solutions should be applied to every 10 lineal feet in a 6 inch wide by 6 inch deep trench all the way around the foundation of the home. Q
Can Dominion 2L be used to treat potato bugs?
Is it safe to consume harvested potatoes that were treated with Dominion 2L at the time they were planted?
    A
Dominion 2L is not labeled for use on edible plants and any food plants treated with the product should be discarded. There are other products that share the same active ingredient that are formulated for use on edibles such as Imidapro 4SC or Monterey Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic.

    Q
Will Dominion 2L work as a drench treatment against mealy bugs ?
I have several large live oak trees that have become infested with mealy bugs. Is this product effective as a drench systemic treatment for this problem ?
    A
Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can be used to treat for mealy bugs. The label states to use 1.5 fl oz Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate per 100 gallons of water as a foliar spray not a systemic. This would break down to approx. .015 fl oz Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate into 1 gallon water.

    Q
What is the best way to apply Dominion 2L for bagworms on Leland Cypress trees? How much per 5 gallons of water?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is a great product for listed insects as a soil drench. However, for bagworms, a foliar application of a product such as Talstar P would be a better option. It can be applied once monthly. If the bagworms are mature, manually plucking them and soaking in soapy water would be the alternate option.

    Q
Can you use Dominion 2L for outside spider control? I have been using Talstar & we are getting call backs.
What do think, as we like the price of Talstar but time for a change.
    A
Dominion would not be recommended for spider control as you are limited in where you can spray it. A much better option would be something like Equil Lambda 9.7 which will still dry clear like the Talstar, but will hold up to the outdoor elements longer. It also sits on top of the surface better to help give better control of the insects passing by that are harder to kill like spiders. Please keep in mind that you have to treat a wider area than just the foundation of the home to eliminate the spider population, and that it takes time to knock them back to a tolerable level. The main part of your spider elimination will be eliminating all the other insects in the area they are feeding on; the more food sources around the home, the more spiders you will see as this is prime feeding ground. It normally takes spraying once every 1-2 months for a couple of treatments in the beginning to get the problem pushed back enough to be able to back off to every 3 months with your sprays.

    Q
When using Dominion 2L ,what setting would I use for a dial n sprayer for grubs in lawn?
All I see is .46-.6 fl.oz. per 1000 feet ,when using home sprayer, it is a set dial per gallon of water, help me if you can. I hope I'm clear on this, thank you.
    A
You can use .6 fluid oz. Dominion 2L per gallon of water.  For best results, Dominion 2L should be applied prior to egg hatch and applications should be watered in. For more information on the best time to treat in your region, you should contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener.

  • Asked by Carl from Whitesburg ,tennessee

    Q
Can Dominon 2l be used effectively on a pre treatment under a garage concrete slab
    A
Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can be used for a pre-treat application if you have nothing larger to use.  Some of our customers use a 5 gallon bucket and pour the 5 gallons over 50 square foot sections which will be much faster than using a hand pump sprayer which comes out slowly.  It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be.  Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas.  You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured.

    Q
I have a crawl space with concrete foundation walls. Why do you recommend Dominion rather than Termidor SC?
    A
Termidor SC lasts for 10 years or more, but it comes with a hefty price tag that many people can not afford in this economy. We recommend Dominion 2L which last for up to 7 years as a lower cost alternative. Either product will do a great job for you.

    Q
How much Dominion/gal for foliar application to evergreen bushes?
    A
If you want to do a foliar application you will need to use about .45 ML per gallon of water. If you want to do a soil drench you will need 3 to 6 ml of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter. You can use 1 pint - 1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter to mix the product in, depending on the water volume that is easiest for you to work with and can still be accepted by the soil. You can find more information on these treatments by reading the Dominion 2L product label starting on page 8.

    Q
What is the application for whiteflies in potted plants with Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate?
I have a small greenhouse with lots of 2 and 4 inch pots and want to use dominion for whiteflies. I don't know how far the roots space is for these small pots. How much do I use per gallon for these small pits since it's not big enough to use per foot of root space.
    A

Dominion 2L is not labeled for use in containerized plants. We suggest Hi-Yield Systemic Insect Granules instead. That product can be used for containerized ornamental plants in home gardens.

    Q
A couple of days ago I was repainting some baseboard molding and when I pulled back the carpeting I noticed
several winged termites walking around. My question is, would trenching around my house with Dominion still be an effective method to eradicate them, or is it too late for that since they have already established a colony in my house? If so, what method should I use? Thanks
    A
It is never too late to treat your home for termites.  You should do an outside perimeter treatment with Dominion which will take care of any termites that may be in your home if they entered from around the outside perimeter.  In addition to treating the exterior of the home, you should spot treat any termites that you know of directly with the product from a 1 gallon hand pump sprayer.  You would pull the carpet back again and spray the termites directly where they are so it is sure to touch the termites.  You should read our How To Do A Termite Treatment article for instructions on how to perform the outside perimeter treatment.

    Q
Does Dominion 2L Termiticide kill ticks?
How much does one mix per gallon of water as a systemic tree treatment? How often should both questions potential problems be treated for?
    A

No, Dominion 2L is not labeled for ticks in your lawn.

The mixing ratio for a systemic treatment on trees is 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. per inch of the trunk diameter. Be sure to use this in at least 5-10 gallons of water. The amount of product is what is important when treating with Dominion 2L.

  • Asked by Christian from Dutton,va

    Q
After trenching, what type of soil, dirt, etc do I need to fill in?
I understand that the backfill must also be treated with the chemical as it is placed in trench . I need more backfill in the crawlspace trench also . Also , is there a type of mulch that can be used which termites don't like or is it best not to put mulch around the house foundation . Thanks , Chris .
    A
You can use just about any type of fill in dirt. We recommend steering away from the sand as the Dominion 2L will bond better with soil/dirt. As far as using mulch, we do not recommend using any type against the structure as they do attract termites.
