    Q
How much Dominion/gal for foliar application to evergreen bushes?
    A
If you want to do a foliar application you will need to use about .45 ML per gallon of water. If you want to do a soil drench you will need 3 to 6 ml of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter. You can use 1 pint - 1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter to mix the product in, depending on the water volume that is easiest for you to work with and can still be accepted by the soil. You can find more information on these treatments by reading the Dominion 2L product label starting on page 8.

    Q
Can Dominon 2l be used effectively on a pre treatment under a garage concrete slab
    A
Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can be used for a pre-treat application if you have nothing larger to use.  Some of our customers use a 5 gallon bucket and pour the 5 gallons over 50 square foot sections which will be much faster than using a hand pump sprayer which comes out slowly.  It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be.  Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas.  You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured.

  • Asked by Roy from Islamorada Fl

    Q
What is the best product for treating Florida White Fly? I have 75 palms and 25 Gumbo Limbo.
I manage a property in Florida Keys. Need to know what is the best product and how much to apply on each tree and how much product do I need.
    A
You will want to use a systemic insecticide such as Dominion 2L to control the whitefly. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Dominion as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion per foot of shrub height or 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter for trees. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per foot of shrub height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per foot of height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) as well. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested.  Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and translocated throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake. We also recommend using a product with an active ingredient that is different than the soil drench for a foliage application while you are waiting for the Dominion to translocate through the palm. Talstar P is the most popular choice for foliage application on ficus for white fly.

    Q
How does Dominion 2L compare to Talstar P for Red Carpenter ants?
I bought Talstar from you and you have a great service. I sprayed once but still find Florida Red Carpenter ants outside. I did perimeters within perimeters to box them in. I looked for their trails and sprayed them. Did area at base of house all around as directed. Dominion 2L is non-repellant so maybe it is a better choice. Carpenter ants are so smart.
    A

Talstar P will kill ants that come in contact with it, but will not eradicate them. Dominion 2L sprayed around the outside perimeter of the structure will. You should mix .6 fluid oz. per gallon of water to treat for carpenter ants. This will give you approximately 1000 sq. feet of treatment. Please see our Carpenter Ant Treatment Guide for more information and tips about treating for carpenter ants.

  • Asked by Chris from Provo, Utah
    10/14/2014
    Q
Can Dominion 2L be injected directly to holes drilled in a live tree?
Some "tree care" products are sold that provide a syringe to inject 5% Imidacloprid directly into the trunk of the tree affected by Bronze birch beetles etc as a way to quickly introduce the product to the insects. Can I dilute your product and use it in the same way?
    A
You can apply Dominion 2L as a drench any where between the base and drip line of the tree. You want to make sure that  you keep the soil moist for up to 7 days after applicaiton to ensure the product will be more quickly soaked into the root system. We do not recommend Injecting Dominion into the live tree. Please follow the product label for instructions.

    Q
How well do I need to mix the solution with water?
For example, do I need to stir or just fill up the 5 gallon bucket half way and add Dominion 2L then add the rest of the water?
    A
It is important to throughly mix the Dominion 2L into the water. You should fill the bucket with 1/3 of the water needed, add appropriate amount of Dominion 2L, stir well, add another 1/3 of water needed and stir, add the rest of the water and stir.
