    Q
How to mix Drive XLR8 in a 25 gallon sprayer?
I have between 3.5-5 acres of grass that I mow, I plan on spraying my lawn which is covered in crabgrass. I'm not exactly sure on the sq ft of coverage area I will be spraying. I have a 25 gallon tank that I will be spraying with. What would I need to mix for a 25 gallon sprayer to apply a good coverage to get rid of this annoying crabgrass. Also what amount of surfactant would I need to add for the 25 gallon sprayer as well?
    A

Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer is applied at 63 oz in 20 gallons of water to cover 1 acre. It is recommended to mix Drive XLR8 with either Dyneamic Surfactant or Prime Source Duo Stick.

How long can the mixture of Drive XLR8 (3 Tablespoons), DyneAmic (1.5 Tablespoons), and Water (1 Gallon) be left in the tank for reuse? I want to mix the above and use it for spot spraying over crabgrass whenever new crabgrass grows.

You want to make sure to use the diluted solution within 24 hours of mixing. The shelf life in the original bottle is 3 years.

    Q
How much Drive XLR8 for a 40 gallon tank and Super B oil?
How many acres would this cover?
    A

In a 40 gallon tank you would add 64 oz of Drive XLR8 and 10 oz of methylated seed oil surfactant, and this should just about cover 1 acre. Keep in mind that it is most important to use the correct amount of product for the area you are treating, rather than an exact amount of water.

    Q
What is the dilution rate in ounces per gallon sprayed for Drive XLR8?
I use a hose end sprayer so I need the ounces per gallon setting.
    A
The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Drive XLR8 Herbicide is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.45 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.45 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

    Q
How long after applying Drive XLR8 should I wait to add 1/2 inch of water?
    A

It is best to give Drive XLR8 at least 24 hours of dry time after application.  The product label recommends that if it has not rained within 2-7 days after application, you would then irrigate with at least 1/2 inch of water.

    Q
2 applications with Drive XLR8, should I apply each at 1/2 rate?
The label says use no more than 64 oz per acre and that's equivalent to the broadcast rate of 1.45 oz/1000 sq feet. However it also says a sequential application may be needed to control annual grasses that are 2-4 tiller. Should you apply the first application at 1/2 rate then for crabgrass?
    A

The single application maximum rate for Drive XLR8 Herbicide is 1.45 oz per 1000 sq ft, or 64 oz per Acre. The product label gives instructions for split applications depending on the type of annual grass you are treating.  Otherwise the full rate would be used for most applications.

    Q
What is the best time of the year to apply Drive XLR8?
Even with lawn company about 1 July crabgrass starts growing. Now mid August have very thick patches. It seems to be in same places every year. Charlotte nc.
    A

When using Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer for crabgrass, it’s best to apply at either the very young stage or the most mature stage of the crabgrass.  When treating between the 2-4 tiller stage, repeat application may be required.  You should make your applications while temperatures are between 65 and 85 degrees for best results.  You can also use a pre-emergent like Dimension 2EW in the spring and the fall to help prevent it from coming up the following season.
