    Good product

    By Rob/bob on 12/08/2015

This product seems to be much better in killing Crab Grass than any other I have tried. This would not be my first choice on St Augustine. On Zoysia it's great. The Zoysia is very tolerant of the Drive herbicide, but St Augustine is sensitive. The Crab Grass showed damage after just a few days, and now 10 days later most Crab is brown, and the roots are obviously suffering as well. Most herbicides require several applications to actually kill Crab Grass, but I believe the impact iafter only 10 days is greater than the full impact by the others herbicides I tried. The vigor of Crab Grass makes it a hard weed to control, but Drive is giving a total kill. I happen to have St Augustine invading my Zoyzia from a neighbors property. The Drive is helping on that front as well. Where I sprayed it, the St Augustine is turning red and losing vigor. The over-growing St Augustine is not a big concern to me, but having an easy was to keep it away from my Zoyzia makes it an easy fix for me which I intend to implement.

    Buffalo grass management tool

    By Paul on 09/15/2015

Received product quickly. I have been working / struggling over my buffalo grass patch for three years now but refuse to give up. Drive XLR8 gave me the upper hand, now I am on top. Buffalo is highly tolerant of this product and it performs well on weedy grasses. I have not identified some of these weed grasses but Drive knocked them out along with Korean and japanese clovers. Curious though, some clover patches died quickly and others require 2-4D, and they look like the same plant. Maybe Jap. and Kor. clovers respond differently. I can't tell them apart. Drive nails foxtail grasses quickly. It's now one of my most valuable prairie management tools for buffalo. Can't wait until next year to finally see my pristine buffalo patch.

    Crabgrass Killer Awesome

    By Kelly on 08/16/2017

After reading the reviews and most had great results, so I tried it. I bought XLR8 and Methylated Seed Oil. I live in Utah middle of the state, My grass is Kentucky blue grass maybe a little mixture of other grasses because in small areas the grass turned a lighter green, looks to be recovering. I mix 12 Tablespoons to 4 gallons XLR8 and 8oz Methylated Seed Oil, Temperature was about 90deg. Did not water day before and then I sprayed and did not water for 24hrs after. Sprayed August 10th by August 16th all of the crabgrass is dead, as in BROWN. Before that crabgrass seemed to be growing out of control and very healthy. I did see one or two new starts but just pulled them out and for 4 days nothing. This stuff is amazing, I will be using this on my other properties.

    Buffalo Grass

    By Laura on 05/24/2019

I am using Drive with surfactant to kill off a massive invasion of bindweed in my new buffalo grass lawn. It works great and does not harm the grass at all. One thing you need to get used to, is it does not show results for at least 6-7 days. Just follow the directions, as far as mixing rates, and it will work. My only complaint is it doesn't kill more varieties of weeds. This spring I'm going to add Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone to my mix and see if this gets most of the other weeds. I'm using a pump sprayer and spot treating. One other thing, DoMyOwn customer service is 5-star and they ship fast. Really love these guys.

    Kills crabgrass

    By Bl on 07/07/2015

I didn't think this would be able to kill mature crabgrass right in the middle of summer. I did the recommended mixture for spot spraying in a 2 gallon sprayer and mixed in some MSO. After 3 days, the crabgrass (and barnyardgrass) started to wilt and become red and were on their way out. I had too much of the weeds that I had to apply this again a second time. After 2 weeks of the second application, most of the crabgrass were either brown or dead. I still have a few left here and there so I will just take care of those later, but I'd say 95% of the crabgrass + barnyardgrass was taken care of.

    Crabgrass smarter than me

    By Jason on 08/17/2020

I have used Drive XLR8 along with Duo Stick 3 times over the past 45 days. I have had zero luck. A few sprigs here and there turned purple for a few days but nothing ever turned white and died. First batch was 1.5oz per gallon, nothing happened, second batch was 2.5 oz per gallon and again nothing. Last batch about a week ago was 4oz per gallon and nothing. I have added the correct amount of duo stick for each spraying but zilch. It has been an extremely wet summer for TN so the product has had plenty of moisture to get absorbed into the roots. Guess I have some serious superman crabgrass or I just do not know what I am doing. Time to try a different product because the crabgrass in my yard is taking over the entire yard very quickly.

Drive XLR8 did it in one application.

    By Ed on 07/02/2022

This clover want-a-be known as Oxalis infested my yard last year and was taking over large swaths this year along with the dreaded crabgrass. That was until I treat my entire lawn with Drive XLR8 Herbicide Kit with Surfactant. I have 1.30 acers and used the entire bottle accord to the directions. If anything, it was some what diluted, as the entire bottle was only labeled to treat one acre. Nonetheless, I made with work for the entire plot. Very please with the application and results. Yard looks great and it has stopped the unwanted green monsters from attacking my lawn. This cost me half as much as it would have if I have used the Triple Action Weed n Feed with Crabgrass control granules.

    Thank you!

    By Francis on 06/02/2017

My notes basically said that I purchased Drive XLR8 from you and wanted to tell you how delighted I am with the results of using it. About 80% of my Bermuda lawn was taken over by Torpedo Grass. I discovered that you sell the Drive product made by BASF and wanted to inform you of the outstanding performance of the product. Should you ever need a reference for it's use I am happy to be that resource. I have also written BASF and thanked them for the product. I am guessing that the purchase of this product saved me more than $3000+ which is what it would have cost to replace my lawn. Thank You!

    Fantastic Product and Excellent Service

    By Mario on 08/26/2022

Our 2 year old lawn from a new home construction became infested with White Dutch Clover. It spread fast in many areas of the lawn. I used 2-4-D and that got most of the weeds but only slightly burned the clover. I spray regularly for weeds but couldn't get rid of the clover. These was an amazing kit. I have never used the dye or surfactant before so I was hesitant about it at first. When applying the dye I started very light and needed to use a little more. I was worried about the new driveway as I had light overspray. As it says through the dye fades away in 24-48hrs zero issues. Tractor tires do have a light tint though as I used a pull behind sprayer. The first few days looked like it was working and then continued to see improvements week after week. I am assuming this is the Surfactant shielding the Herbicide and letting it do it's job after rain and sprinklers. To this day about 3 weeks after spraying we feel it's still working as intended. We have an open field full of weeds to the North of us ready for development and another side a bare lawn with patches of weeds. This has been the best product to use in conjunction with 2-4-D on our lawn.

    Great stuff

    By Anonymous on 08/28/2013

In the past I had a lawn control company and have more crabgrass now than ever it seems like. I could have called and they would send someone out to kill everything but I don't like that so I let the lawn service go. I put a premium fertilizer on my lawn a few weeks ago and my Bermuda greened up nice and is very full. I mixed up 1.5 oz of Driver DLR8 along with 0.5 oz of Southern AD Surfactant per gallon of water and used my pump sprayer to spray a fine mist early in the morning with a heavy dew on the grass. About 12 hours later (as is normal this year in the south) the heavens opened up flooding my lawn. I just knew it was not going to work. WRONG! The very next day it looked like the crabgrass was turning yellow, the second day I know it was. Within 4 days the crabgrass was dead. It has been 5 days now and I cut my grass again last night. I can see some yellowing of the Bermuda where I sprayed but I can live with that. Apparently I missed a few spots of grab grass walking around the yard with my sprayer so I will hit it again in a week or two. The same day I sprayed my lawn I sprayed my son's lawn but I did his on dry grass in the sun maybe 4 hours before the rain came. His did not work as good as mine but it did work. I am going to hit his again in the morning dew the next time. I would highly recommend Drive DLR8 w/a surfactant (Southern AG worked great for me.) I have used herbicides before but never with a surfactant. But then again nothing as ever worked this good before either.
