Works great!
By Clint on 09/25/2020
Spot sprayed in my front yard where crab grass came up beside my sod, killed it all within a few days. Blanket sprayed in my back yard that I haven't renovated yet. The backyard mixture had 2-4D mixed in too. Pretty much everything died except my grass and some random goose grass. Excellent product that will stay in my yard maintenance arsenal.....highly recommend if you have crabgrass.

Crabgrass Killer
By Mark on 09/15/2021
Does the job. 3-5 days weeds showed signs of dying. My cool season turf unharmed. The only drawback is, weeks later treated crabgrass shows brown patches in lawn. Will definitely need to treat with pre emergent next Spring. Plan on aeration over-seeding to thicken lawn.

Drive
By Ted on 08/09/2022
Have sprayed crabgrass three times still not dead has barley turnd colors 2 weeks later still the same
Expert response:
We apologize you did not achieve the intended results. Drive works best on young newly emerged weeds, more mature weeds may require repeat application, it can also take up to 6 weeks to completely kill weeds. Drive also requires the use of an MSO surfactant for best results. We would welcome the opportunity to troubleshoot the application to help get you the results you need. Please contact us at your earliest convenience!

Mostly effective
By Mike on 09/02/2022
This has easily been the worst year for crabgrass growth since 1987 here and I was hoping to kill all the unwanted grassy weeds and the clover in the yard as the information indicated would occur with application. The weeds are mostly dead after TWO applications three weeks apart and much of the clover is killed. There is still enough of both left in the yard (or at least partly alive) that I am disappointed. I might use this product again but I would look for something else before doing so. The death progression takes a long time - I would prefer a much faster acting herbicide.

Seems to work
By Marcia on 10/11/2022
I've use this product twice in the last month and it seems to be working on the weeds, crabgrass and other weird grasses in my lawn. I also purchased a surfactant to help the herbicide stick. I will continue using this next spring when it warms up.

Seems to do the Trick
By Ric on 11/08/2022
I used this once with the dye, and that really does make it much easier to see what's been sprayed already. A few days later the crabgrasses started yellowing, then dying after a couple of weeks. I expect another spraying will be required in the spring time.

Kills Bermuda grass
By Kenneth on 04/19/2023
Product states that it can be used on bermuda grasses but unfortunately it's starting to kill my grass but not doing anything to the crabgrass and weeds. I should have known better when it killed my tall fescue as well. I thought maybe I did something wrong, but seeing as how it's doing the same on my bermuda, I'm pretty sure it's this product. Sad, because my yard is so green with multiple patches of dying yellow and brown.
Expert response:
We apologize you did not achieve the intended results. The label does state that Yellow that occurs on bermuda can be reduced by the addition of chelated iron or sprayable soluble nitrogen fertilizer. You also want to avoid applications during spring green up of bermuda as this is when it is most sensitive.
We would welcome the opportunity to troubleshoot the application to help get you the results you need.

Kills your grass
By Kenneth on 04/24/2023
Be careful, this stuff will kill your grass. Said it's safe for bermudagrass, but it's actually killing off my grass and not the crabgrass or other targeted weeds. I wanted this product to work as I tried it on 2 different types of grasses and didn't work on either. Very disappointed with this product. Buyer beware
Expert response:
Drive is labeled safe for bermudagrass when used as directed. The label does state: Yellowing that occurs on bermuda can be reduced by the addition of chelated iron or sprayable soluble nitrogen fertilizer. When treating in the spring, you should avoid any applications during spring green up when the lawn is coming out of dormancy as this is the most sensitive time for bermuda and it could be injured.

Crabgrass Destroyer
By Steve on 09/03/2025
This stuff works wonders. I used to use the Roundup for Lawns and got so so results. One application of this stuff killed every single crabgrass plant in my lawn. Next time I will pair with 24D to help kill broadleaf weeds because I dont' think this killed anything but the crabgrass.

It works
By Binh on 09/23/2025
I used it on Bermuda grass as instructed in combination with Prime Source Duo Stick and it killed crabgrass and other common weeds/grass here in the south just after one application. The grass turned yellow a little bit though.

DRIVE HERBICDE WORKS
By Larry on 07/28/2014
Recently used drive on my lawn, I had some new seeding that I did not use a premerge herbicide. Really nailed the crabgrass, also good activity on the broadleafs. Used crop oil as labeled and watered a few days later. We have been having good rains prior to application.

Killed Clovers
By Chuck on 07/08/2015
I had a lot of clovers coming up and taking over the grass. Doesn't kill the things sprouting from acorns but those aren't as much of a pain to pull. A week later they were back, but it is easier to spot spray or pull some small ones than it is to pull 50 sq feet of clovers. I am in Maryland, used 4 oz per gallon in a backpack sprayer with 1oz per gallon of MSO added. I applied once and then 20 days later. For the second half of the yard I applied once then 18 days later. Grass only browned around where clovers were. A week after the first application there was some browning. A week after the second, clovers were gone.

Drive Kills Crabgrass RIGHT NOW!
By Bernie on 08/16/2015
This is, without any doubt, the best post-emergent crabgrass control I've ever used in my half-century-plus of lawn care. Sprayed from a trailer tank sprayer on my 1 acre lawn, and the extensive crabgrass was completely brown after 48 hours, and after one week, only a sporadic few plants remain. Combined with an early spring pre-emergent, I'm confident my crabgrass problems are over. I initially balked at the price (especially when combined with a surfectant), but the results were well worth the investment. Good product!

Effective but spotty
By Johnson on 08/19/2015
Recently used Drive xlr8 with dyneamic surfactant on later stage crabgrass 5-6+ tillers. with a hand sprayer at the recommended rate of 1 1/2 oz per gallon. Tried to be sure product was well mixed and applied evenly but found very erractic results. Some plants taken out completely others unphased by the product.Have used the granular drive in the past with good consistent results.

Crabgrass control
By Kevin on 08/24/2015
This is the second year in a row I've used Drive xlr8. I use a pull behind sprayer, electric pump tsc 40 gallon. 60 0z of xlr8, pint of southern surfactant and it kills crabgrass. I have sandy soil and was infested. Next year I should be down to a pump sprayer.

This is my second bottle and it is awesome!!!
By John on 08/26/2015
I followed the direction exactly. I even measure in 10' increment and used pesticide flags, electrical flag and gas flags to create 10' lanes in my yard so I would not get overspray on 1 acre of land . After about 3 days it started looking brown...I had lots of crabgrass that I thought was just natural lime color grass. The first round of attack I killed at least 85% but I could see 15 % trying to come back where maybe not enough spray hit it so I just did my second spraying (14 days later) and hopefully will be at a 100% kill rate this time. Will use this again...and I already see in the last few days old grass coming back.

Not impressed so far
By Jason on 08/30/2015
I sprayed drive xlr8 over my lawn a few weeks ago per the mixing instructions and haven't noticed good results. The front lawn I even went over twice during the same application. I've only noticed about 10% of the crab grass turn brown. I plan to re-apply since I have an abundance of this stuff. Poor results may be because the crabgrass is so mature (it was applied in August). I had anticipated better results after reading the reviews.

This kills crabgrass! Period!
By Kellen on 08/31/2015
This stuff is unbelievable. I moved to a home with a terrible yard. Within a few days of spraying (using only a tiny amount of poison), every crabgrass plant in my yard was dead. I did use a professional surfactant, so I can't testify to results without it. I measured the amount of water it took me to spray 1,000 sq ft, and I ended up using about 1oz per gallon, which may have been slightly too much, but no damage was done to my lawn.

Drive herbicide
By Daryl on 09/01/2015
It knocked out my crabgrass. Turned yellow in 2 days and brown in a week. My only complaint being it did not touch my clover but on my next spraying I just added a cheap broadleaf herbicide with the DRIVE. I recommend this product and will be buying more next season.

Has yet to work for me. I had a BAD crabgrass outbreak.
By Stanley on 07/13/2017
In a matter of a week my entire back yard was taken over. I ordered XLR8 thinking it would cure my problem. I only have a gallon sprayer but that just happen to be about the amount I spray while walking 1000 square feet (or so I thought). I mixed the 1.45 ounces as directed with the seed oil and walked my yard spraying 6 days ago. The crabgrass has tuned a ever so slight yellow, but is still mostly green. I used an areal sf calculator app to break down my lawn into 1000 foot section rectangles and it turns out I needed to mix my gallon tank at least 6 times. I only mixed it 3 times originally. So tomorrow I will give it another try and amend my rating.
